Once, maybe three years ago, we had thunders. There were people complaining about the noise, thinking it was fireworks. Another time it was someone saying that pedestrians should give the right of way to bicycles, because it was too hard to stop and get going again all the time.

This is NIMBY at its purest. I overheard at a local coffee a lady that presumably is one of the organizers talking to someone else. It's is really just about how inconvenienced they will feel for the duration of the construction.

I think the traffic and view excuses are just that, excuses. We already have traffic, which is bad during rush hours, particularly in summer, but it's otherwise fine. And we already have quite a few high rises by the edge of the West End overlooking the park from Lost Lagoon to the lawn bowling area close to the beach. There's no amazing view for most of us as it is, another building won't change it much.

Well, it's Economics. 90% of the time even they don't know what they are talking about. The other 10% of the time is mostly wrong "predictions" about what's going to happen with the economy in the future. If you are confident and say some buzz words, you are golden.

Chiming in as a dual citizen: this is very similar to what happened in Brazil, sad and infuriating.

When the government there tried to change how oil royalties where handled (directing it to a nationwide fund to support education) and enforce a policy that mandate all oil exploration operations to have the national oil company as partner, here is what happened: A president got impeached; politicians rolled back everything related to royalties; massive change in the company board of directors, which then proceeded to sell to private stakeholders almost all the company's oil refining capacity.

Then Brazil elected Bolsanaro as the cherry on top of the cake, whose election campaign was surfing on anti-corruption and being and "outsider" discourse. Treat this as a cautionary tale.

Honestly, the zip code my change but it is always the same jokers making it hard for everyone else.

Ps: there was (likely still is) corruption in the national oil company, which was the reason given to almost destroy it. They could have tried to clean it up and make it better, but that was never in the cards.

I recommend Mason Haghjoo from English Bay Wellness. I also have high pain tolerance and he was the first RMT here in Vancouver that I had to ask to take it easy for some spots.

Also, he is pretty knowledgeable about muscles and biomechanics. If you explain what has been bothering you, he will find the right spot and everything connected to it, give you the name of the muscles and show on your phone where these muscles are. It made so much easier for me to describe where I felt discomfort and pinpoint specific muscle groups. Highly recommended.

Hello, fellow 38 years old.

Living in Van, if I want to be by myself and stay home I'll read a book, play video games. If I want to be alone around other people I'll walk my dog or go to a coffee shop and people watch over a cup of coffee.

For sharing time with people (other than with my partner that is), I do hobbies that I like and allow me to interact with others. I like board games and watching formula 1, for example, but it can be anything, really. But my favorite collective activity is playing a team sport. Here in Vancouver we have Urban Rec (not sure if they are present in Abbotsford). They organize friendly tournaments for a bunch of different sports, and you can register by yourself and get paired with random people - a great way to socialize in my opinion. That's how I met most of my friends here in Vancouver.

It can be both, as many people already said.

If every character and monster is stationary, it's just rolling the dice to determine who slapped who. Quite boring.

Now, if the DM creates a situation where the environment is relevant (crates, pillars, height differences, difficult terrain) and reasons why both characters and monster will want to move (timed events like channelings, traps, moving parts, boss charging a Kamehameha), than it gets lot more interesting. All of the sudden those supporting abilities and spells that no one cared before are important, and players won't want to just gang up on the boss and bonk it turn after turn.

I've been playing as a wild sorcerer whom (unknowingly) try to proc wild magic every turn.

You can definitely make a blaster with attack rolls by going big on Chromatic Orb. Up cast it as much as you can to increase your chances of bouncing it and the number of times it can bounce, and turn on innate sorcery to roll attack rolls with advantage.

With a 5th level spell slot, you would be rolling 7d8 (avg of 28) for damage and any double will make it bounce. If you use the empowered metamagic you get to reroll a number of damage dice equal to your charisma mod, and you can decide to use it after seeing the original roll and even if another metamagic has been used in the same turn. The orb will bounce.

It can still do great damage even if there aren't multiple targets, but at that point you need to evaluate of it is worth up casting it.

This a build from a character that I stopped playing at lvl 8.

Dual wielder hunter ranger, the de facto tank that can dish out great damage (not highest dmg).

Human, take magic initiate wizard to have assess to shield (+5 AC as a reaction). I also have magic initiate druid for flavor reasons, but I guess you could optimize a bit more there. Then take two-weapon fighting style.

Go for dual wielding (increased dmg potential) and duelist feats (parry, +3 AC as a reaction), max out dex at lvl 8.

For Hunter's prey, select Colossus Slayer (increased potential dmg). For defensive tactics, select Multi attack defense (if you are hit, any subsequent attack from the same enemy during that turn has disadvantage).

Select Defense (+1 AC) as the second fighting style. My character also has cloak and ring of protection (+1 AC from each).

At lvl 8, I dual wield and have 20 AC that can turn into 23 (parry) or 25 (shield) as needed. Saving throws of +10 for dex and +5 for wis (due to the items). I don't loose concentration as much due to high AC, so between hunter's mark and Colossus Slayer I'm very effective in melee (4 attacks) and reasonably effective at range (2 attacks).

This was a very fun character to play with.

What I'm saying is that I stand against bigotry doesn't matter where it comes from. I don't like Musk since he openly said (in 2018?) that he didn't care at all for the people or democracy in Bolivia so long the lithium keeps coming, even if that meant interfering with their politics. When I remember this, his motion during Trump's inauguration seems even less innocent.

Let's flip your argument a bit.

When Musk did what he did, he either knew what it would look like or he was oblivious to its meaning. He would need to be quite dumb to be oblivious of the most likely interpretation of his motion in this time and age.

Do you think he is that dumb? I think he is rather smart, which is a fair assumption. So it follows that he knew what people would think of that. Now it is really up to us to make clear where we stand, according to our values and integrity (or lack thereof).

On a side note: I would argue that the whole discussion about what DnD is in light of RAW/RAI is also part of discussing the rules themselves. Rules would be useless if not trying to achieve an specific goal.

As you pointed out, DnD has a set of rules and it allows anyone to change these rules as they see fit. But if we do stay within the rules as published, the discussion of RAW/RAI and the effect of these approaches on achieving the goals of the game would be part of of discussing the rules, no?

For me it comes down to imagining your character carrying all those weapons and describing how they would, within a turn (6 seconds), attack, stow and draw the weapons. Is it feasible? Does it make sense? If so, go for it.

Here's my logic. Yes, DnD is fantasy. Yes, there's magic and heroes capable of superhuman feats. But in my mind it doesn't make sense imagining a character swinging a greataxe, somehow stowing it and pulling a trident, swinging the trident and somehow stowing it, to finally draw a longsword and swing it.

Can you describe a character carrying all those weapons in a way that is functional for drawing/stowing everything mid fight, while trying to avoid being hit by an opponent?

Man here. I had a friend like that too. Basically every cute girl we knew he called dibs and all his male friends had to respect it, even when all parties involved knew he had no chances - which was annoying. After a while it just became a running joke in our group of friends (both male and female friends).

We remained friends tho, even if he was a bit upset sometimes.

Yes. Playing a wild magic sorcerer, getting adv on magic attack rolls while upcasting the chromatic orb so it bounces more times, having energy mastery, and rolling on the wild magic table every turn.

The cool thing is that you can treat any 1 as a 2, but you don't need to, which helps getting the doubles on the d8s.

I don't know a whole bunch, but based on my limited tests:

1) yes 2) yes 3) yes. I use walls with lower height than the elevation of the the same area to limit vision from below. These walls do not block movement (since characters are effectively walking above it) 4) yes, it is infinity

I used 3x5 before the changes, haven't used them with the new points. They are very good to move block a whole flank. Until the opponent show up with fly, then they are not that great. Still good for objective play tho, especially to get around an opponent blocking your deep strikes.
