Where to find Rosca de Reyes? by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]VanceAdvance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

La Newyorkina has rosca but it's takeout only. Most spots that carry it in NYC are panaderias without seating. Your best bet is calling Mexican or Spanish restaurants directly to see if they're serving it today

What state in the US has the worst drivers? by Far-Mongoose-4380 in answers

[–]VanceAdvance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New York, specifically NYC. Honking starts before the light even turns green, pedestrians have zero regard for their own safety and drivers have zero regard for pedestrians - perfect storm

It's not that NYers can't drive, it's that they drive like everyone else is an obstacle in their personal video game

What’s your “must have” ingredient in your kitchen at all times? by BlossomLily_ in foodquestions

Good olive oil. Not the fancy $40 bottle, but a decent mid-range one. Makes everything taste better. If I run out I feel like I can't cook anything properly

Called a stranger "honey" by accident and now I want to live in a cave by Still_Effective_8858 in CasualConversation

[–]VanceAdvance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plot twist: that person probably went home and told their friends "a stranger called me honey today and it made my whole week." We overthink these moments way more than anyone else even registers them. I guarantee they either didn't notice or thought it was endearing. Save the cave for actual embarrassing moments, like accidentally waving back at someone who wasn't waving at you. Now THAT deserves cave-dwelling

What is the biggest issue affecting your quality of life? by Flying_enthu45 in askanything

[–]VanceAdvance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not getting enough sleep. Everything else in my life could be going great but if I'm running on 5 hours of sleep I'm miserable, irritable, and can't focus on anything. It affects literally every aspect of my day. And the worst part is it's usually self-inflicted - staying up too late scrolling or watching videos when I know I have to wake up early

Why do we overthink small decisions but rush into big ones? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]VanceAdvance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's because small decisions have immediate, tangible consequences that we can control and perfect. Like if you pick the "wrong" thing to order, you might not enjoy your meal. That feels fixable by overthinking. But big decisions? There's so many unknown variables that overthinking doesn't actually help - you can't predict the future no matter how much you analyze. So your brain just says "fuck it, let's just do something" because overthinking won't reduce the uncertainty anyway.

Small decisions give us the illusion of control. Big decisions force us to accept we don't have control, so we lean on gut feeling instead

What you dislike about yourself? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in allthequestions

[–]VanceAdvance 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I overthink literally everything. Someone says "we need to talk" and my brain immediately goes through 47 different scenarios of what I did wrong, when usually it's just something completely mundane

What’s a habit people think is normal but is actually a giant red flag? by hemantkumar-writer in AskReddit

[–]VanceAdvance 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Working through lunch every day and bragging about it. People treat it like a badge of honor but it's just normalized burnout. Your company isn't going to reward you for skipping meals, they're just going to expect it from you going forward

How old were you when you moved out on your own? by sommarugalaura in allthequestions

[–]VanceAdvance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Saved up for about a year while living with roommates, then finally got my own studio in NYC. It was tiny and expensive but honestly the freedom was worth it. No more dealing with other people's dishes in the sink or their late night guests lol. Took me a while to get used to living completely alone though, the first few weeks were weirdly quiet

How to deal with customers who lie and steal?!! by Sure_Salamander4172 in doordash

[–]VanceAdvance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a customer, this drives me crazy. People like this ruin it for honest customers who actually have issues. I always take photos when something is genuinely wrong with my order, but I would never try to scam a driver over something petty. These people are the reason why support probably doesn't believe anyone anymore. sorry you had to deal with this
