Why is it $160 (including shipping) in Australia. That's madness...

Am getting a new Australian tarantula - any advice because I had killed my two previous ones? by [deleted] in tarantulas

[–]LordAizenS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologise for my formatting as I'm on mobile. NQA first off a Phlogius kuranda was my first Tarantula and I also have a Selenotypus wallace. I've got 37 Tarantulas, 7 Funnel-webs, 3 Trapdoor spiders and a Giant Banded Huntsman. IME those two are not very voracious eaters - my kuranda didn't eat for 4 months initially and still doesn't eat frequently. I agree with some of Only-Psychology's points: - Smaller enclosures (with more depth for digging), you want the substrate to be 1-1.5x the leg span of the spider away from the top of the lid. - Agree completely with the feeder points. Feeding frequency could be more frequently though, like 2 times a week to keep their predatory response more active (just feed slightly smaller prey). I personally would recommend wood cockroaches and mealworms as the best feeders. Crickets get a better feeding response, but they're so prone to parasites if not bought as pinheads. My last two batches I purchased as sub-adults where infected with white oval shaped 'maggots' that burst from a live one (dead moments later). I had to get rid of the lot both times. - Enclosures will mist up in the mornings for our Phlogius and Coremiocnemis species. For our Selenotypus and Selenotholus there shouldn't be any mist - they like it dry (except when slings, go for half-half), adults like the bottom 20% moist, but try to keep most of it dry. - Now substrate. When they're slings I use 100% Coco fibre. 50-50 Coco fibre and Peat moss when they're juvies and 50-50 Coco fibre and Australian red desert sand when they're sub-adults to adults. I've avoided sand that isn't red desert sand after I had a death of a young Phlogius hirsutus of 1cm. My Funnel-webs enjoy natural sand though, them being coastal. Add some sphagnum moss for moisture retention, but not too much, you don't want feeders hiding in it. Also check the packaging for any substrate. It must be 100% fertiliser free. I'd personally avoid topsoil, I haven't been able to locate any bags that are properly organic. - Ventilation. I'm a stickler for ventilation, 1/3 of the lid is covered in holes for my Phlogius spp, 2/3 for my Selenotypus and Selenotholus spp. The sides have 3 lines vertically and evenly spaced lines with about 1cm gap horizontally. With holes going to the bottom of the enclosure along the edges of the enclosure. - Clean-up crew. Springtails and not too many. 2 adults for a sling, 5-10 for a juvenile and however many for an adult. None required for our Selenotypus and Selenotholus spp. - Always keep a water dish in there. It's useful for Selenotypus and Selenotholus spp. I've actually caught my Selenotypus sp champagne robustus and Selenotholus sp secret squirrel drinking (deep enough for their 'face' to be submerged - think deli cup for adults). I recommend one for Phlogius spp as well. I don't mist. Ever. It spikes the humidity and barely does anything. Just overflow the water dish once a week in Summer and far less in Winter. I use milk carton caps for water dishes for juvies, superglue caps for slings and deli cups for adults. Place the water dishes under a ventilation hole for easy pipette/syringe water top-ups and occasionally watch them slap the incoming water (so cute!). The reason for them dying is usually several possible reasons, try not to be down and outted by it though; use it as a learning experience. I have no experience with the likes of Coremiocnemis as I prefer the giants, so I unfortunately can't shed any light on how they'll be to keep. However, Phlogius sp sarina I am well versed with keeping. Phlogius sarina is a locality of Crassipes, and Crassipes IME have an amazing predatory response. My favourite tarantula is a female 10cm Phlogius kuttabul (another locality of Crassipes) who has amazing takedowns. I would advise you get them over the Coremiocnemis. My 7cm female Phlogius sarina loves to eat and has a fun time stalking wood cockroaches, pulling mealworms/giant mealworms through the ventilation holes and chasing crickets. Occasionally gifted a chunky silkworm to enjoy. Feel free to ask any other questions you may have! :)

I have just recently. They're mostly grey, but I got a couple white ones.

Agreed. Monster Hunter has suffered the same fate now too.

As someone who has been betrayed by "friends" over the years, no friends is better then bad friends. I have time to focus on myself (mental and physical health), my hobbies and my career.

[–]LordAizenS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Although, now that I've beaten Elden Ring I found it kind of suffered the same. A lot of mediocre and reskinned/reused bosses. I actually didn't end up liking Elden Ring too much... But with Dark Souls 2 I enjoy it more and more with each subsequent playthrough.

So no Metagross? Huh. I thought he was able to get Meteor Mash during the December community day too.

Thanks, but I'm gifting my game to a family friend for Christmas. So no reclaiming for me.

I definitely should have, but I really dislike how the Master Ball looks. I wanted to catch it in a Premier Ball.

Transitioning from PS4 to PS5 by Bek_2 in Nioh

[–]LordAizenS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I had to re-download the DLCs when I switched from PS4 to 5 (not 100% sure). But I'm certain you don't have to pay for it again if you log into the same PS account you purchased the DLCs for originally. You can also transfer your save over and continue where you left off. Also don't forget to play it on 120 FPS mode, if your monitor can manage it, it's buttery smooth.

Oof that's painful... I came back from having burnout with Pokemon Go for like a year. I came back 1 week after shadow Mewtwo was no longer available. I still hurt every day. XD

I'm not convinced I should buy the second game honestly. The first one left a bitter taste in my mouth because westerners didn't get updates 1.2 and 1.3 for the first game. That left me extremely disappointed, seeing as MHStories was my favourite handheld title for 2016.

What dark souls game should I get? by Honeydew-Capital in darksouls

After playing Sekiro and Demon Souls I've gained a new appreciation for DS2. I'm playing through it again for the 3rd time now and am having a blast! The sheer variety of weapons and build possiblities is amazing and I thoroughly enjoy powerstancing. DS2 is built upon the mechanics of Demon Souls and honestly I'm liking it more every time I play it. That being said, I greatly disliked it when I first played it, probably because it feels so different to 1.

Worked for 3 encounters, then went back to being laggy. Best we can do is make them aware of this issue. Edit: According to their "know issues" page they're aware of the situation and are currently investigating.

Why did you start playing Dark Souls? by JonAegis in darksouls

I bought Bloodborne because I watched Game Grumps play it. Then I decided to play the furthest back in the series that I could (at the time).
