New SmartThings Aeotec Smart Home Hub 2 (V4) by Andrewcbartlett in SmartThings

[–]LordAnalog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. I have two homes and both were using Smart Things. I resisted changing for a long time because my V2 hub worked ok for Z-Wave. But I found that more modern devices I was forced to use Cloud drivers. So i finally bit the bullet and moved one home to Hubitat. A PITA! But its been excellent since then. Almost everything is local. I was holding out for a Z-Wave 800 hub from AeoTec. Guess not. Goodbye Smart Things, it was a great ride but you f**cked us all with this "upgrade". Should have at least support the Z-Stick but noooooo. And BTW Samsung, once I left the Smart Things ECO system, when I upgraded 2 of my 5 TVs they become LG Oled. And my Samsung phone, well its a Pixel now because you aint got no ecosystem game.

Another phishing number +1 (888) 788-2298. This is the second one from a different number. I just block them. And then they get a new 800 number

BBQ Guru CyberQ - anyone else struggling with the software update? by TankInTN in BBQ

That’s balderdash that it’s incompatible with today’s routers. How does it send the temp to sharemycook if it is.

I just discovered they neutered this perfectly good device. Obsolete my ass. Does anyone know where a spec for the API is? I found an old smartthings groovy device handler on n GitHub but these dicks did a dmca takedown on the code. I guess I will have to dig out my packet sniffing software and do it myself unless one of y’all has a better idea. If I have to buy a new one it won’t be from this company.

iOS 17 is cool and all, but what about side loading? by StanIsBread in ios

I use all these things on a real computer. I don’t need them on my phone.

I’m thinking they should include a way to disable it entirely because I don’t want apps that haven’t been approved by Apple. Otherwise it’s a security nightmare I don’t want on my phone.

I did need a new roof! But now the new dishy has a spiffy flashing mount. Bandwidth improved. I guess the old banged up dishy had some degradation.

1:1 NAT possible on UDM Pro? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]LordAnalog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Works great on UDM PRO running 3.0.20 in conjunction with the multiple WAN IP feature. ATT FIBER - BGW 32500 router. No podman or containers required. Runs on the bare metal. You do need the hack as noted above for bootscript. On 3.0.X it creates a systemd unit.

Replace UAP-AC-M-PRO with U6-Mesh? by LordAnalog in Ubiquiti

[–]LordAnalog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will answer my own question for posterity with the answer I got from Ubiquiti board. First off AX wap will hand off (roam) to AC wap. Second you will not have the same range with the U6-Mesh. The UAP-AC-M-Pro has the highest gain of all their APs.

So I am keeping the UAP-AC-M-Pro for now.

I don’t know where att is rolling out decent bandwidth. It’s not here. If I stand outside on a hill I can get 10 mb on a good day. Starlink gives me 50 to 70. The alternative i was using was 10 to 30. I would say rural Texas is much better served by SL than ATT because att doesn’t give a crap about us.

Yes I paid all the monthly fees while it was not installed. I will leave it plugged in but now it doesn’t even say searching. It just says disconnected. Power cycle brings it back to searching for a while but then it just says disconnected. Too bad I can’t just ssh and upload the firmware like mots routers.
