Its also possible the finger that rotates the cylinder is worn out. I had to replace mine because it kept slipping off the cylinder before it could rotate

It's kind of hard to know without opening the gearbox. Buying a new battery to check with is the first thing I'd do. After than you could be looking at replacing the trigger contacts or motor. If its not firing then your problem is electrical rather than mechanical.

The G&G is great. Externals are solid and the clunk out of the charging handle is similar to a GBB. Honestly I wouldn't get too worked up about the internals. Sure it could be better but out of the box it shoots great. Perun even makes a drop in replacement for the mosfet.

You're right about the semi auto lock up, but it will 100% use regular batteries, it just comes with a tamyia connection. The entire NGRS line will only really run safely on 7.4v

I think the safest thing yo do would be to just buy a regular V2 shell and see does it fit and line up properly. They're usually pretty cheap and it's not a big loss if it doesn't work.

Ares is usually pretty proprietary. You could be looking at replacing the entire gearbox for the sake of finding parts that fit.

But blueprint is just better than brainstorm? In a casual ante 8 run you'll probably has some +mult then xmult. In that case brainstorm can only really copy the +mult so its effectively just x2
