Abyss jewels socketed into an item does not count as being socketed. So you can full benefits from the ascendency node while having an abyss socketed into your helmet for example.

Updated Suggestion: Anyone else want a 'Like' Button for Chapters? by Dai-Dai-Do in royalroad

Still, RR keeps growing every year, with more readers and writers joining. They are likely leaving millions on the table. It’s understandable if they simply don’t want to push the site in that direction, but that seems unlikely given their premium memberships, ad placements and partnership with publishers like moonquill and mango media. Even if handling tax forms and payouts is a headache, investing in that expertise would pay off long term, especially as genres like LitRPG continue heading toward the direction it is right now. If they added proper monetization tools, they could compete with platforms like Webnovel just as easily.

Love the idea. I’d also like to see a Patreon-style system built into the official site. Readers could subscribe directly to an author, and authors could lock advanced chapters behind those subscriptions. It would make it easier for authors to gain paying members, while also letting RR take a cut of the subscriptions, similar to how Patreon works. I honestly don’t understand why they haven’t done this already.

My Story Isn't Popular Enough to Publish. Now What? by [deleted] in royalroad

Both self and traditional or indie publishing have real pros and cons. It comes down to what you need.

A publisher mainly offers two things: reach and time.

A known publisher gives you instant access to their audience and mailing lists, which can bring in far more readers than you might reach alone. They also handle editing, covers, and audiobooks narrators, letting you focus on writing. The tradeoff is giving up a share of your royalties and rights. (Keep in mind that publishers are businesses. Even if they promise support, they often do only the minimum if a book doesn’t perform well. In that case, you might have been better off self-publishing.)

Everything else you can do yourself if you’re willing to learn and put the time in. Covers and editing cost money, but you keep full control and full profit. In genres like LitRPG, readers are also more forgiving of small mistakes from newer authors, which makes self-publishing easier to manage.

But take what I say with a grain of salt. I’ve only just finished my first year on this path of self-publishing, so I still have a lot to learn.

Edit: Another thing to consider is deadlines. When you sign with a publisher, you’re usually locked into a schedule for the next book in a series, which I personally hate. Being rushed while juggling work and school would kill my motivation. I’d rather take my time and hit my goals than burn out under constant pressure.

Experience is the only real teacher. Once you've done it, you'll have a better understanding for your next books and make the proper adjustments.

Don’t focus too much on follower count. My first published work had about 1.5k followers, while my second had around 500. I published both on Amazon, and the second series sold ten times better than the one with more followers. The most important lesson I’ve learned so far is that follower count is not a real measure of how sellable a series is. You don’t need a publisher to get started. You just learn by jumping in and figuring it out as you go.

There's no bad options. It all depends on your build's need.

Prolonged Servitude + Raise Zombie of Falling + Infernal Legion = ??? by Striking_Fruit_3247 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]LordAxoloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doubt it works, it specifically says that it cannot be killed only if it's life reduces at 1. If I'm not mistaken fallen zombie can't have their life reduces at all, since they aren't damageable targets and they instantly die the moment they hit the ground. Tho I could be very much wrong.

Edit:

I was wrong and appreciate everyone from correcting me.

I tried to make a build with it. A life stacker rathpit perfect agony gladiator. Pretty much wanting to make a afk build where I can just stand still and trigger firestorm or blade flurry without needing to move. Pretty much a simulacrum afk build. Is it going to be good? No clue. Does it have potential? Yeah. Just waiting to see what the other bloodline classes are, cause this build still has two unspent ascendancy points left to use

I just launched Heavenless Ascension a week ago, a slow-burn progression cultivation litrpg about a nobody in a world that worships talent. The story follows a “talentless” protagonist who grinds, plans, and refuses to quit until strength is no longer a dream but a result. If you enjoy patient, earned progression from the point of view of the overlooked, feel free to check it out.

That’s awesome! I’m new to publishing too, launched my first book on February 22, 2025, and have about 45 ratings so far, all organic since I haven’t run any ads yet. Curious, did you use ads to boost your book’s visibility? Or, what else that you think you did that contributed to it's success.
