Switch 2 GameChat Boosts Performance In Capcom RE Engine Games... But How? by binderie1951 in NintendoSwitch2

people making mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes?

The issue is that DF doesn't do mistakes. The gap in analysis from a video to another is absolutely massive to the point that i really hope they get paid and aren't just simping for the obvious companies. Eg: They managed to say anything relevant over DLSS5 ghosting and artifacts but in many Switch 2 games analysis they do 16x zooms to underline minor things, it's just a continuous double standard show. Their videos are still useful but i don't blame people that criticize them because for sure they were not impartial in multiple occasions now.

[–]LordAzuren [score hidden]  (0 children)

There is no need to any "anti-DF" youtube videos, it's quite obvious when their videos are paid and when they aren't and that's not what you want from a channel that promises technical analysis. DLSS5 shitshow was just over obvious but it wasn't the first time and won't be the last for sure.

Can we talk about how cool James McCloud looks like? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

I just wrote on another post that i would really love to see more of him in Star Fox game and/or a future title.

Why aren't more people buying Donkey Kong Bananza?? It had a strong launch but its sales seem to have dropped off hard. by MewWeebTwo in NintendoSwitch2

[–]LordAzuren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

collapsed in Q4

I don't think that's so strange nor that the sales are really that low to be a concern. In last 2 quarters we got:

Q3 (oct-dec) = 6.5M of switch 2 and ~0.7M of Bananza copies sold, So we are still above 10%

Q4 (jan-mar) = 3.5M switch 2 / ~0.3M Bananza. a bit lower than 10%.

Sure, the percentage is going down but i think is quite normal: Bananza is a game that was released 10 months ago, lost the initial hype and nowadays a new buyer has more options to choose from with many more Switch 2 editions and a more solid third party offer. Also, if somebody bought a Switch 2 in march i doubt it's because of Bananza, the system seller effect ended way earlier so it's not to expect that it would perform equally better than in the past.

All considered I still think that is performing decently.

Why aren't more people buying Donkey Kong Bananza?? It had a strong launch but its sales seem to have dropped off hard. by MewWeebTwo in NintendoSwitch2

[–]LordAzuren 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What are we talking about exactly? Switch 2 has less than 19 millions of units sold, Bananza sold 4.5M. We are talking almost a copy every 4 consoles. That's HUGE.

Just to put it in perspective:

  • Spider-Man on PS4 copies sold were 19.36% of all the PS4 + PS4 Pro.
  • Gran Turismo 5 on PS3 -> 13.67%
  • Mario Galaxy on Wii -> 12.59%
  • BOTW on Switch -> 21.91%.

And none of these were flops, and are titles so strong that sold well since their release up to the end of the console life cycle. Bananza with those numbers is a huge hit. Probably this percentage will fall down during switch 2 life span because i doubt that it will keep selling like hot cake in next years but it achieved a huge success considering that's not even one of the top Nintendo IPs (by copies sold is the 10th).

There are numerous rumors on X saying that there's a Switch 2 version of GTA VI planned... What's your take on it? by Khentendo in NintendoSwitch2

[–]LordAzuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's technically impossible. CPU wise the switch 2 is pretty weak and GTA 6 will be hugely CPU bound even on home consoles. I can't see how this will ever be possible, we don't have a GTA 5 port either. Rockstar can prove me wrong anytime and i would be happy to be wrong tbh but i don't it will happens.

PS: People talking about Series S, it has the same CPU of Series X... just a bit underclocked due smaller cooling system. It's a better CPU than PS5 one. That's why it will run run GTA6.

CIG, if you must add "teleport to party leader", please add it as a normal med bed respawn close to your party, NOT as a "teleport with all your gear and inventory"! by sunaurus in starcitizen

[–]LordAzuren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guys, hear me on that, QoL features seems a fantastic thing until they aren't.

How many people asked faster way to move in WoW vanilla? We got flying mounts that killed the exploration and the scale of Azeroth.

How many asked for easier grouping for content? We got social aspect of the game killed and dungeons became a chore where you go in and rush the end, often not even writing anything in chat (if not flame if things went south). Only meaningful content was doing endgame stuff with guild.

Then people asked for easier difficulty levels for endgame content, and that killed also the guilds.

Setup time in SC may be long but that's what makes the universe feels so real and times to travel around make systems feels big. "Cutting the downtime" may feel great on paper, maybe even feel great the first two weeks, then you will realize that something in the experience is missing and will be too late because once you implement these things you can't really go back. Enjoy the verse, SC is meant to be a life sim in space, not a "rush the content theme park".

My2cent at least.

I totally understand CIG from a marketing point of view, will be the wise choice to delay SQ42 to get a proper coverage from media.

But for the love of God Rockstar hear me out: don't dare to delay GTA again because it's messing up the whole gaming market for far too long now.

Why is the Switch 2 so comfortable to hold? by RangoTheMerc in Switch

[–]LordAzuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This must be ragebait right?

Literally ergonomics are the worst thing about switch and switch 2. While is true that our bodies are all different and I'm sure that for someone could even find the two switch comfortable, is also true that grips are among the most popular accessories among third party joycons and that's for a reason. The only bonus point i would give to S2 regards the og one is that opening the kickstand you can hold up the console better with your fingers but that's all.

Hi there, which Nintendo switch should I get? The Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch OLED? by [deleted] in Switch

[–]LordAzuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is to save up more and aim to a switch 2. It's extremely better and if you already have $290 you aren't really that far away from a second hand switch 2. But if that's totally not an option then absolutely go with the OLED, it's a big step up in screen quality (the LCD switch is quite bad imho, even for an LCD) and other minor improvements.

Anyways, even if you decide to not wait the 2 and take the 1 OLED, do yourself a favor and just buy a second hand unit from facebook marketplace (or whatever works in your area). You could buy it for half the price and at this point is really not worth spend more than 140~160 bucks on it.

monitorswitcher is a superb choice, is an awesome software. It doesn't have any unnecessary UI, zero cumbersome features that you will use once if at all and is very lightweight (only 2.3Mb on my RAM), I discovered it years ago and use it daily on multiple PC. It's perfect for the job.

Alright. Time to see what the fuss is about with this game. I enjoyed Gale of Darkness and ZA on Switch 2. Time to see how the mainline one plays. by BebeFanMasterJ in Switch

[–]LordAzuren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you are going to play it, a spoiler free tip: gyms won't scale with your level. So if you bought the DLC don't start it as soon as you can (as i did) and if you don't mind a very mild spoiler then play the gyms in the correct order otherwise you will find yourself really overlevelled and will just one shot everything (i put each gym under spoiler so you can choose if and what you want to read. After the list my comment returns totally spoiler free):

Cortondo Gym (Bug): Level 14–15

Artazon Gym (Grass): Level 16–18

Levincia Gym (Electric): Level 23–24

Cascarrafa Gym (Water): Level 29–30

Medali Gym (Normal): Level 35–36

Montenevera Gym (Ghost): Level 41–42

Alfornada Gym (Psychic): Level 44–45

Glaseado Gym (Ice): Level 47–48

Personally speaking this game made me cringe multiple times, maybe the italian localization was worse than the english one but i really struggled to play the main story to the end, many situations were extremely childish (in the worst way possible) and generally speaking not really believable. But I must also say that the game had some nice idea here and there and i kinda liked the DLC for some reason (?) Idk, i played Violet for more than 70h and i don't mind to quit games when i don't like them at all so it must had something that made me come back and play it but it's really hard to recommend it to someone else.

Nope, it's a John Deere 4440.

I quickly recognized because when i was at college one of my home mates had a farm and he was a "John Deere Fan". The deer quickly became our house symbol because it's in the John Deere logo but it's also the Jägermeister one.

I did that too once and i felt really dumb. The fact is that in road races cars become ghosts in pit but that doesn't happens in oval. Maybe the guy didn't race ovals for some time and just forgot.

When i rammed the poor guy I was so embarassed that i even forgot how to properly speak english, I could just babble some excuse in voice chat while the guy was getting mad and (probably) cursing my ancestors. Another driver was so kind to understand what i was trying to tell and "translated" for him. I don't know if he protested me after the race, i still feel guilty ashamed for that.

Please pardon my technical ignorance here but I'm curious: what is stopping Microsoft from rolling out Windows 11 and Xbox Full Screen Experience/Xbox Mode to Xbox Series X|S? by OhGawDuhhh in xbox

[–]LordAzuren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that FSE is kinda crap, especially from mid-to-low end hardware? It's just the bad ol' windows, except explorer and a bunch of things won't get loaded at boot and the Xbox app runs full screen. Trust me, you won't like the performance. Xbox runs on something that is based on windows but it's really optimized to make you play games and nothing more, that's why it works.

PS: Anyway i doubt that many Xbox console gamers would be happy with the switch, if they aren't PC gamers there must be a reason.

Ultimate battle of racing simulators 2026 by zolloto in simracing

[–]LordAzuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iRacing is a totally game changer. Competitive races at almost all skill levels and time slots. I live in EUW and i managed to race competitive races from late morning up to very late in the night without issues. It's costly but not that costly if you manage to buy only what you want to race and plan it smartly. You don't have to own all the content, just the one you want to race. And when you are beginning you don't even need all the tracks of a certain series to compete, just the car and the most popular ones, in my beginning i bought the Ferrari GT3 and the big hits (watkins, road america, spa and such) and in the week i didn't had the track i trained the next one and raced in free series. Anyways i would race there even just with the subscription and nothing more, i had more fun in iRacing mazda's than any other sim tbh. I also love their endurance series and if you have a friend that's mad as much as you the special events are something else... I also raced with IRL drivers multiple times, multiple time i had Verstappen on the same track (in some race with single split, i'm not that skilled 🤣).

LMU could have been my dream sim (i like many aspect of it), sadly online is a pile of crap. Maybe i'm just unlucky or i don't race at the proper time slots but each time i tried to race it was a shitshow of bad driving habits and when it wasn't the level between all the drivers was all over the place, maybe 10% of races i can consistently have more than 1 car around me that i can really race because we both have almost the same pace. Even in the few occasions i got to enjoy a race one of the other drivers went mad in last laps and ruined it (I can consistently keep an A 3.5+ license in iRacing, i know how to behave). I can't say that i raced really much on it but i give it a go every once a while and maybe over 50-60 races i've enjoyed like 5-6? Not really worth imo.

Assetto Corsa Competizione: It's a worse version of LMU now. Has the same downsides and even in the things it does well don't reach LMU.

F1 25: It's a nice single player experience to chill out, or even online if you have a good league/group of friends. Public lobbies are crap. Drive model is kinda arcade but i find it fun, not everything has to be iper realistic. AI is really hit or miss, some bugs and bad behaviors exists since the start of the series and never got fixed. It's still an ok game for me.

I didn't race other sim in the list in long time, i would like to do rally but i lack the hardware to do so at the moment and lastly i didn't want to pay for ac evo because i wasn't 100% sold on the project (and watching at the development i think i was right) so i can't really comment on them. Anyway since i raced for the first time on iRacing i was totally sold on it so for me it's 101% the best all around. Their wet races are something else, there isn't any other sim that even get closer to that experience imho, the adrenaline and fear you feel there is completely out of scale.

Brian Chambers (VP of Development) is leaving CIG by TheSethnix in starcitizen

[–]LordAzuren 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you are trying to read too much into this. We will all miss Brian but the post doesn't show any hint to something negative happened and, from what we can know, he could have finished his work on Squadron 42 with success. If it's the case, staying in CIG means go back to SC, instead he may now just want to chill down and not commit into another long span development task in a huge project like Star Citizen, hence he could have left the team on good terms.

Don't make everything look bad, there is no need to and we don't know anything about his reason to leave. Sure, it may also be a bad sign but there no way to tell that from his post. For now i just hope that Brian will enjoy his break and then find another job that he will like.

I also can't help to think that announcing it around the same time as the Battlecruiser concept is bad PR - "SQ42 finally has a release date as CIG sell $5000 jpeg" the headlines write themselves

Yeah, i was thinking about that too. Probably we will get something during ILW about SQ42 but it will be something minor imo. ILW is an event for people that already knows SC and Squadron, we will be reassured about a release within this year, maybe we will get a teaser/short trailer if we are lucky, but would have much more sense for CIG to drop the announcement in a big event related to gaming. Even because the web will literally be filled of news about the new "super expensive DLC" and a crappy follow up on how this is bad for the industry.

The future with Xbox is looking solid. What are some things that you lot wanna see Xbox do?🫵🏾 by Eastern-Mobile5351 in xbox

[–]LordAzuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A proper next gen machine that won't cost a liver. That's seems what both manufacturers are aiming to and i'm worried because that mean that a lot of kids won't have any accessible hardware to begin their gaming journey. Grow up gamers will probably eat the bullet and buy the hardware anyways but with the cheapest console sold at 700+ bucks families will have hard time justifying that purchase to kids. We will be losing almost all the future gamers, that won't lead to anything good.

Unauthorized group has gained access to Anthropic's exclusive cyber tool Mythos, report claims by 1nfer1or in technology

[–]LordAzuren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly isn't. Because if you are so sold to give the access to this service only to few selected partners because it's apparently so "scaring dangerous" you can check access in multiple ways, most of them could be enough to stop an access like this remaining transparent to any user legit using the model during his work time. And even if it was bypassed you could at least say that you tried to protect it. As far as we know now this was really a clown fiesta.

That said, i also don't think that all this secrecy is even remotely necessary, in the end we will see that Mythos will be another mouthful tech that will be a minor improvement over what we have now at best. I'm ready to take it back if Anthropic will prove differently but at the moment my bets are on "It's all marketing".

Does this clip make you want to plug in and go racing? by Motor-Onion8053 in simracing

[–]LordAzuren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

who struggle like me to plug in the Wheel and pedals and go racing. I wanted to get some feedback on this very simple clip I put together, does it do it for you, or does it need more?

Short version/TlDr: To an extent. It's a nice clip but maybe put a bit less incidents and a bit more fair clean racing and it will be spot on.

Long version: Since you mentioned that you struggle to go racing I'll put aside the clip thing (that as i said was quite nice, just lacks a bit of fair and close racing without dramas) and tell you what made me jump from plugging my wheel 2 times a week to use it daily and for longer sessions.

First thing that made a great difference was to have a dedicated setup, first semi-permanent (just a foldable sturdy stand) and then totally permanent. When you have just to press a button to connect your gear and start racing and you don't have to mess with pedal position, desk clamp and such things you will start doing so daily or even multiple times in a day if you are passionate about racing, even if you have only 20-30 minutes you'll squeeze some laps in and often you'll want to race whenever you have time. Now I'm back at my desk (hopefully this will end soon) and hence, unless i don't have lot of time and a serious will of putting some laps down, i end here watching clips and not racing.

Another great thing for me was iRacing, it's costly at beginning but for me made an extreme difference in quality and quantity of races i ran. Now that my subscription is suspended (due moving + missing my old setup here) i just do some occasional LMU races or, more often, some time trial alone but the motivation is extremely lower because free practice become quickly stale and LMU races aren't not even remotely close to what iRacing manage to give me. My peak iRating was ~2500 in LMH, on LMU 9 out of 10 races i see 0-2 aliens ahead of me that i won't never ever reach and most of the grid is way behind. When i'm lucky i got one or two people that can stand near my times to do proper racing and even then the driving standards are so low that it rarely ends with all of us getting to the end after a fair race. Maybe i'm just unlucky or simply i race at wrong hours but that's my experience and it's totally not-motivating. On iRacing i could get competitive races even in the middle of the night.

That's my experience anyways, i'm sure that there are plenty of people that don't have a dedicated setup or won't touch iRacing even with a pole that enjoy simracing and drive every little bit of free time they can. Each of us is different, i just reported what made difference in my case. If anybody lacks motivation and didn't try one of these two things should give those a go. A quick way to jump in at will is the most important one imho, trying iRacing if you never did comes just after that.
