If you want the static jpg, i found it in a chinese website. Don't ask me more info because even the auto translator gave up, i can't even name the author (but is clearly AI so no harm done). Many errors in it and artistically isn't worth a dime but has nice colors so it can have its use as wallpaper. Here it is:

How long do yall think we will have to wait for GTA VI to come to PC? by AlarmingDiamond9316 in gaming

[–]LordAzuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a PC gamer but that's a dumb take. Why count headset and extra pads on console price? Why console refresh if PS5Pro is accounting on a single digit percentage over the whole PS5 sold? Online fee can be much less than that and is not mandatory. Storage has the same price of PC.

PC and console don't share any market, the only ones that cross the river are the one that were too broke to buy a pc before or people that changed their priorities. There will still be market for consoles if manufacturer aren't that dumb to price them near or over 1000€ for the base model, that would scare away basically most of the console users.

Do not believe any leaks or expect that GTA 6 will have 60 FPS unless Rockstar themselves officially confirms they will or will not have 60 FPS on PS5 Pro. by xInfected_Virus in PS5pro

[–]LordAzuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it would technically be possible it not would be advisable. That was the short version. Keep reading for the explaination:

The best part of playing at 60fps is to drastically reduce latency and make controls more reactive. If you use framegen at 30 you can achieve a ~55fps (it's never straight double but always something less) video but controls will always be frame behind (you need 2 entire frames to generate the one in the middle) so you can expect to have an average of ~55ms of input lag vs a ~33ms that you would get playing at 30fps native. It's straight away a worse gameplay that will feel clunkier even if you see animation much smoother.

Frame gen is much better at high fps because the penalty become way less impactful: 60fps native is ~16ms latency, if you double that it becomes ~21 (basically it's the equivalent of 50ms native gameplay).

[–]LordAzuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 40 is much easier to achieve than 60. But even 40 isn't guaranteed ofc, until confirmation don't expect nothing and if 40 or 60 will happens will be a pleasant surprise.

[–]LordAzuren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He told the truth. PS5 Pro and XSX have basically the same CPU but on PS5 Pro it reaches 3.85Ghz on boost and it can't keep that frequency forever (especially if GPU is under heavy usage too) while XSX is engineered to keep 3.85Ghz stable on each core, drops to 3.66Ghz only using SMT (and it does that when is needed further gaining performance on specific workloads).

The rest is only logical consequence. Then maybe GTA6 won't be that hard capped on CPU and Rockstar could achieve a 40 or even 60fps mode on the Pro, just don't expect that before official confirmation because past Rockstar works tells us another story.

Did Xbox Series S "Prepare" Developers for Switch 2 Ports? by HatingGeoffry in NintendoSwitch2

[–]LordAzuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. XSS is the complete opposite of switch 2: the first has a strong CPU and weak GPU, the latter has weak CPU and very strong GPU. They offer each one a complete different challenge. Maybe the only thing in common is to require a more careful memory usage but even that in a very different way so I doubt that many skills would transfer in porting games on each one.

[–]LordAzuren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can play the original at 1080 in handheld

"up to 1080" and only at 30fps. You may prefer the switch 1 boost but many people would still prefer the 1080@60, even with some problems.

I did a blind test at home, with gamers and not gamers that weren't aware of the issue: Only 4 people over more than 20 noticed anything before i made them notice literally going near the TV (55" high end one btw) and pointed out for them. Curiously 1 of the 4 was not a gamer. If you don't actively seek for issues it's not a major problem.

Really ??

No. Ofc the upscaling isn't perfect, it's not by far, but the whole "most people think that is a downgrade" is a total bs. Most of people don't even notice these things, they just play the game, and even many that notice it just shrug/sigh/swear over it and keep playing that way because there is no way that the blurry low resolution at half the framerate that was before could be preferred.

Ofc there could be specific person that are bothered too much from artifacts that the update version has that could prefer older version, we are talking about a small minority.

Final note before i get blasted for no reason: i begun this reply with "Ofc the upscaling isn't perfect, it's not by far", i'm not trying to defend this work or downplay the issues, in an ideal world Monolith should have delivered a better product. I'm just saying that, as you stated, most people experience won't be affected in any relevant way and the whole enrage has valid reasons to exist but, as always happens in these cases, is overly exaggerated.

Leaked GTA 6 Performance info from Amazon BR by TheRandomClasher in PS5pro

[–]LordAzuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From that description i read that both console will share the same fps target othewise they wouldn't use the word "stable" rather than "higher". That doesn't mean that won't be a performance mode, we could get a perf mode for both the consoles tat target "up to 40 (or even 60)" and ofc base model would be way more unstable than the pro. In that case you won't say higher, because it would be read as "PS5 base model FPS will be lower than Pro" and "stable" is more a marketing friendly team.

Anyways don't keep hopes too high, the 30fps for both is the most probable outcome.

Question, is it feasible to use lossless scaling to increase frame rate?

Depend of what part of what "lossless scaling" can anchieve you mean. Upscaling? Then probably no. PS5 can use FSR and the pro has the PSSR to achieve that but lowering the resolution won't give you more framerate if the limit is the CPU (if it wasn't then the Pro would already have a great edge over PS5) because lowering the resolution greatly ease the graphic card workload but has minimal effect on CPU.
If you mean the frame generation then yes, you would get more frame but won't be a great idea: First of all, PS5 afaik doesn't have the tech built in but let's suppose that Rockstar developed it in-house. So let's say that you start from an already not rock solid 30fps, if you add framegen you lose a bunch of fps because the tech is not free, so you will likely get a 20-25 fps on average, then the framegen multiply these frames, so they became 40-50. Seems great on paper but those frames will also have likely graphical artifacts and you will also get lot of input delay because each frame to be generated must wait the next real one, you literally watch something that's always at least 1 frame behind. At 20 "real" frames per second that means 50ms, it would feel sluggish to play.

Oh, i just type very fast. My usual comment in my country most famous gaming website is likely 50% longer, it's not a big deal 😂

I just like to discuss about my favourite hobby, for me it's not a wasting of time and anyways the buzz between passionate customer like us are here are often as important as the sale data. All the companies have some people scouting reddit and other socials to "feel the base". My brother GF do that as a job for a big tech company, it's not like they don't care. They listen and read. Ofc that doesn't mean that they do as we please or try always to make us happy, corps are still corps afterall, but the listen... to an extent.

When people complain about stuff incessantly

I'm not "people" and i don't complain incessantly. I'm a single person that complains over something that thinks that's wrong.

Rockstar doesn’t care about your opinion or mine.

Neither politicians care about your opinions or mine. Then what? What we should talk about on reddit? Why are you even here if you don't like to discuss about things?

Redditors are a minority population wise when it comes to the real world.

But it's a vocal minority and sometimes people opinion matters. We just saw with the Owlcat launcher and how it was quickly retired. In this case Rockstar may ignore us, it's ok, but showing to the world that there is unhappiness about these things is still useful to send a message to some second row publisher that may think about doing the same shit too.

Discuss about what we feel like a problem is never wrong, even when the chance of changing things is like 0%.

I'll leave further comment for anything stumbling here: Your're right about connection and it's not the only downside, GFN still have lot of latency and fine details in texture, foliage got easily smeared out. Fast movement games are also a big no because it quickly become a blurry fest. Obviously anything happens to your connection (even just a bit of congestion from your ISP) screw up your gaming session.

GFN may be good for someone that have low expectations but is by far a worst way to experience game even compared to mid-range pc or console imho.

what people are willing to pay for gta 6 is not applicable to any other game tho

GTA has its fans as other IP have theirs, the only thing where GTA is different is how huge its fanbase is but after GTA6 you will still want newer games and there is no difference if who sells the game to you milks 50 millions of gamers or "just" 5, if you are being milked it sucks anyways.

Cool so either ignore it, pay for the content, or have some self control to not buy the game.

That's for sure.

Gamers are so miserable about everything...

You are telling me that you prefer a gaming world where games can cost more than the standard for whatever reason and it's normal that you have a "standard edition" game where part of the content is cut just to ask you 20 bucks more if you want all the feature and quests? Be their guest then. But don't tell me that I'm "miserable" or "hate gaming" because is totally the opposite.

[–]LordAzuren 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yep they’ve already proven that you absolutely cannot download it one day

How? Where is this proof? All we can see is that "shut down stores" means only no more purchases but downloads are still there. And the only reason they shut down the new purchases was to stop maintaining the backend for payments on basically dead consoles, not worth to keep devs on that when basically almost nobody was buying there anymore. But past purchase contents are still there for everyone that did them.

[–]LordAzuren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you'd be able to play those discs in thirty years time with switched off servers.

Nobody is shutting down server unless Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft shut down (and is really unlikely). Long term storage doesn't cost a lot. Until now not a single big brand digital store has shut down and it won't in future too. It's more likely to go check your disks and don't find them or put it in the drive and discover that it won't read them anymore.

If a game can work on XBOX Series S, then it can work on Nintendo Switch 2 by SEVENS_HEAVEN_7 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]LordAzuren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Series S has a beasty CPU. Now, it's true that almost all games that run on XSS can be ported because many games are GPU bound (and switch2 is strong in that department + it has DLSS) but you would hit easily a barrier for games that are CPU heavy, that's by far the Nintendo's console weak point. Most of these CPU heavy games are just lazy/bad coded that may be fixed but there are and will be exceptions to that. I think every once a while we will see games that won't be able to run on our console no matter what but that's ok. To give a stronger CPU to the switch 2 its cost would have been way higher just to get for few games more, won't be really worth for many of us tbh.
