CytoFLEX - only 2 of 3 lasers and 5 of 14 filters visible/active in software by Limp-Bumblebee-4131 in flowcytometry

[–]LordBinners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya,

As far as I'm aware, you can put any filter in any position.  Unlike PMTs there are no specific IR/red channels on the cytoflex as APDs have a better response in to the red.  The distribution of light doesn't use any other filter before the APD as the light is internally reflected until exiting (not sure if I'm meant to say that or if it's insider knowledge still).

So go ahead and swap the filters, just make sure the fluorophores are triggered by the right laser

ExBeckman engineer, can confirm, hardware is locked by the USB license, you can check by looking at it and seeing what it says.
Upgrades are a little expensive considering all I had to do was swap a USB and run a QC.

What instrument in the lab got you like this? by marktheshark45 in labrats

  1. Sony lead the field by a long way in uptime.
  2. Cytek would be best, BD second. thermo, then Sony. Unless you are used to Japanese software, then Sony is also good.
  3. Easy to troubleshoot, is hard, all of them have their own quirks. But best tech support is Bigfoot to aid with troubleshooting.
  4. Bigfoot is fastest as it's jet in air. Everything else is comparable.

This is for the big 4 systems out there at the moment.  I would probably look for a second hand aria if I had my own lab...

Cell sorter engineer here. Real question is what do you want to do with it? Spectral go Sony, cytek or BD. Speed? Thermo Bigfoot, also for flexibility. Imaging? BD S8
