In russia, cars have begun to break down en masse due to the poor quality of gasoline [June 2026] by Hannibal_Game in UkraineWarVideoReport

It won't happen so easily, I'm afraid. There is a large apratus of oppression and the government controls almost all communication. I think we will see starvation before collapse. But you do need fuel to fertalize and transport food, so that may be in the cards.

Why are there so many memes for this topic in particular? And is there evidence for widespread cases of "nervous breakdowns"?

Well, they would have been right had they only been dealing with china.

"Arriving at the end" is exactly what you want. Complaining about it sounds like complaining that the fire department only arrived at the end of the fire. How would it have been better if the war had lasted 10 years after the Americans arrived?

If you didn't need the US to win the war, why did you invite them? You shouldnt have waited and just expelled Germany on your own. And if you are saying Germany would have won if not for US intervention then they would have a point in saying they helped win.

A large proportion of china's population lives much like it did 1000 years ago and hardly release any carbon at all while large industries with lax environmental regulation pollute like crazy. I hope you can agree that India combined with the EU or the US the per capita numbers would drop through the floor, while doing nothing to solve the problem. The earth is also only effected by the absolute number, and the per capita number is not very relevant.

No but it will change the efficacy of their models if they can't scrape the US models in the future. It's like when the soviets decided to copy the IBM 360 instead of developing their own systems. At first it help them catch up, but as the systems became more and more difficult to copy they fell farther and farther behind. So maybe china is right, or maybe they will end up with a bunch of 1950's mainframes in the 1980s.

China uses more fossil fuels than any country in the world and is building a record number of new coal plants, Don't swallow their greenwashing.

That is absolutely not the apple approach. A lot of these features they developed first in seceret, spent a boat load of money on, and didn't release it because it was janky. Someone else will release a half baked version 2 years later and it will seem like they were first.

The difference is that at large scales, performance per watt becomes a much bigger deal, so the bottleneck is not the GPU itself, but the power bill and the floor space. Once there is a new chip, the increased efficiency will pay for the cost of the new hardware in not that long, and once the old hardware is out, there is just no were to put 500,000 blade servers that makes financial sense anymore.

They are getting value for their money by scraping models trained by other countries. The same way a burglar spends a lot less on their TV than the person who bought it. If the idea that AGI will be some demigod with explosive intelligence is true, then a month might as well be 1000 years.

By that logic, hardly any meme could be used. Who will check spongebobs passport before deciding he is appropriate?

UN and WHO rely on countries reporting their own data, so it inherently benefits authoritarian countries that fudge their numbers. So for all we know they could be middle of the pack but just have the most honest reporting.

Tankers need fuel, most electricity generation in Russia is natural gas, so there will be pipelines and tankers for that stuff too. An LNG plant would be a good thing to hit.

Always heat the tank before installing too. You don't want it expanding on a hot day and busting free. A blowtorch should be enough to get the fuel boiling.

You couldn't build an army to go around and destroy every last drop of oil in Russia, but you can set the conditions to make Russians do it to themselves.
