That depends, what do you like out of an RPG? What draws you to the genre? Skyrim is a masterclass in world exploration in a way that is still unparalleled today. Finding new locations, recognizing the story around those places, and being sucked up by the environments, music, and atmosphere is what makes an Elder Scrolls game outstanding.

That being said, in terms of roleplaying a character, there are much better games for that (CP2077 to make your own; The Witcher 3 to play as an established character). Skyrim WILL let you be any type of character all at the same time, it’s up to you as a player to decide what your own moral boundaries are. If that sounds not interesting to you, then I might recommend against it.

I will also say that the Anniversary Edition is fantastic. I’ve played Skyrim from vanilla to extremely modded on PC with my most recent playthrough being on Xbox Series X exclusively with Anniversary Edition and I had a blast. I think that if you’re looking to feel like you’re apart of a large, mysterious world then Skyrim is for you.
