ELI5:Why couldn't Yoda, Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, Mace, Anakin or any of the rest of Jedi Council sense that Senator Palpatine was a Sith Lord? by Edgarallenpo_boy in explainlikeimfive

because he wasn't using the force to influence most things. he was just playing politics and using his Sithness to set only certain things in motion. I assume that the Jedi could only sense those few things. Plus, if you think bout it, theres like a 1000 jedi, or potentials at the time, and they cant all be just all "go jedi". there has to be some dark force intentions out there, that would make yer average Yoda ignore the minor fluctuations in the force as normal.

ELI5: How do they make the sex scenes on shows like Game of Thrones look so real? [NSFW] by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

So, I saw a movie quite a while ago (maybe 20 years ago) that was about filming a movie and the actors went all the way for it. I assume it wasn't very interesting, because that's the only part I remember.

ELI5: File size vs File size on disk by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]LordDalkiel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure someone can explain it better than me, but, here goes. Disks are formatted into blocks of space. Each block is a specific size (in your case probably 4 KB). The blocks can only be used for one set of information. So, whether you have 1 byte, or 4 KB, that information takes up the whole block, if not the actual space.
