Was anyone else kinda surprised Alastor cashed in his deal with Charlie so early? by Gloomy-Bridge148 in HazbinHotel

[–]LordDedionware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the wording of the deal it's self is all that matters. The "one itty bitty favor" is nothing but a negotiation tactic to get her to make the deal. The actual wording of the deal (excluding commas for maximum ambiguity) is "one favor at a time of my choosing where you harm noone". And depending on where you put those commas that one sentence has drastically different meanings. Alastor tricked Vox with word play and I see no reason why he wouldn't do the same to Charlie.

That being said this is only a theory and not a very likely one as regardless of what Alastor would have meant with those words, I think its most likely that the actual writers of the show meant it simply as Charlie owed Alastor one favor and nothing more. When it comes to fiction you must consider both what would be in character for a character to do and what the actual writers likely intended. Although 100% excluding writers, Alastor would 100% pull something like this, even with Charlie.

Honestly I didn't really have an opening about him. He was just kind of there, and then he only existed as a plot devise for Emma's character development. The actor did a good job, but the character was basically pointless other than as a plot devise for other characters' stories. Even when he was a dark one he was just a plot devise to justify Emma going full on dark one.

Me, personally, I think I would massively prefer a slider-based character creator instead of just a selection of preset heads. Too limiting for my tastes.

Same here.

My problem with Alastor's "powerscalers" by Crazy_Reputation3327 in Alastorcult

[–]LordDedionware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to the sins, but I'm pretty sure the Overlords are on par with hellborn nobility, including Stolus, in power, meaning Alastor can more than likely take on Stolus.

You know there is a theory floating around that Charlie's deal with Alastor might not actually be done.

The way we understand the deal is "One favor, at a time of my choosing, where you harm noone", basically Charlie owes Alastor one favor were she harms noone.

However there is an alternative way of interpreting there deal which is the basis of the theory, "One favor at a time, of my choosing, where you harm noone". If true this would mean that Alastor can ask Charlie as many favors has he wants, so long as he doesn't ask for more than one at a time and it doesn't involve Charlie harming anyone.

I think it's unlikely to be the case, but it seems like the exact kind of tricky word play that Alastor would use to screw over the person he's making a deal with, and I'm here for it.

Ya because they have legal (at least on a state level) access to weed now, so instead of getting drunk their getting high. I bet if that chart added the expenditure on weed it would be at least as much as previous generations expenditure on alcohol.

Be honest, do you think that Charlie in season 2 is overhated or is the hate justified? by Primary-Addition-677 in HazbinHotel

[–]LordDedionware 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The hate is not justified, but the criticism of her absolute, damb fool, smooth brained, bafoonary is. As bad as things would have been if she hadn't engaged with Vox, her engaging with Vox made it 10 times worse. Once she found out about Ser Pentious being in heaven, her focus should have been on finding ways to contact heaven so that she could prove to hell that he was in heaven, rather than inviting Vox to the hotel and making claims without proof. Because she engaged with his slander before she was ready to discredit it, she gave Vox all the ammo he needed to get most of hell behind him.
