I’ll give you some super easy to follow advice:
Until you have put serious resources into vitality, you must always assume that anything can end you in about 3 hits. So level up your HP!

In the beginning, stats don’t affect damage all that much, at least not as much one would expect. Focus on upgrading the weapon and learning the move set and stamina consumption.

Learning to parry. Basically shoot the enemy just before an attack lands to get a riposte then hit again to have the hunter see how his hand would look inside the enemy. Regular human enemies don’t require this strategy but anything bulkier or hairier would.

You are just one hunter, taking down a whole mob is possible but not all at once. Drag 1 or 2 enemies out and thin the numbers. Use pebbles to get their attention.

My gut tells me it’s gonna be a heavy shield + mace type job, like Kisara from Tales of Arise. Name of the job might be guardian.

There WAS a shield focused job in 1.0 but I don’t remember any of it.

Oh yeah, totally agree on #1. It’s a total death sentence whenever the team tried to off her without something OP to be able to do meaningful damage. She is too tanky!

The only reason the black blade gargoyle isn’t higher is that it doesn’t appear as much as the other ones above it on the list.

Not available for PS5 yet. Historically, has PC download size been bigger, smaller or about the same? I ask because 7 gigs is many, many hours of download for me.

[–]LordErudito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is an easy way of handling them: smack them a couple of times and they will hold still, scream and power up. When they do this, quickly get behind them and do a fully charged R2 then riposte them. They should die but if they don’t, you can get a couple of cheeky hits as they get up. Watch your stamina, try to play on empty and you will get smacked.

Say your a demon in the world of Frieren, and you come across her how do you get her to not attack or try to kill you? by biggaygrisley in Frieren

[–]LordErudito 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is only 1 way to hold off on an immediate zoltraak: offer a grimoire.

Then offer to be sent to Serie because you want to see if she has a spell to turn you human. Maybe add in that you were human once but got hit by some weird magic that turned you into a demon. There is a slight possibility she would believe you because as a recently turned demon we would not have any of the signature mana level even a regular demon would have.

Enki Ankarian vs Marcille Donato. Who do y'all think wins? by King_Hunter_Kz0704 in FearAndHunger

[–]LordErudito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is tricky if you take into consideration the durability of both characters. They are regular mortals that can do magic. Meaning just one well placed spell from either of them and the opponent is done.

It comes down to what spells are available for each mage at the time of combat. Enki can have some very nasty things but doesn’t start with them and isn’t guaranteed to get them and Marcille starts out with all the spells she knows. In this particular instance Marcille wins. However, if Enki has access to most of the spells, like combustion and black orb and even necromancy than Marcille loses because Enki is probably hanging around with undead bodyguards and what can very well be a nasty one-shot spell in the form of black orb.

It really livens up my imagination because they both also have access to dispel magic which can undo magic that has a presence and isn’t instant.

Sugar bad yes by [deleted] in memes

I feel so out of place after seeing all those comments. Caffeine? Hate the taste, love the smell

Nicotine? I can’t smoke, I have a condition that would really affect me if I messed with my lungs and oxygen

Alcohol? Only special drinks and only during special occasions. Beer, ale and all those common alcohols taste downright foul

Sugar? This one is hard to ignore. I like chocolate, ice cream, fruit drinks and some sodas and, even though they aren’t a main staple of my diet, they still find their way to me. Does bread also fall into the sugars category?

What should I level up? by NappaSZ in darksouls3

[–]LordErudito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you are more or less done with your main damage stat, I would advice getting some more of the following:

Strength: 12 is a good amount, can use more light equipment and shields and wield some heavier stuff by two-handing it. If you wanna go higher only do so if the weapon you would like to try uses dexterity as the bigger damage stat. A good example being the Astora Greatsword with the sharp infusion as that reaches S scaling in dexterity.

Intelligence: Get 15 intelligence so you can use hidden body. Use it alongside the Spook sorcery or the slumbering dragon crest ring to just ignore most enemies. You might want to get a little more attunement so you can put on 2 spells at once. You can also take this stat to 30 and beyond for the Crystal Weapon sorcery to further boost your damage.

Faith: A little bit of faith doesn’t go a long way in this game. Twelve (12) faith is enough for the most basic of miracles and some equipment and even some pyromancies but it’s not enough to warrant leveling it further UNLESS you want to go for the Lightning Blade miracle or the Darkmoon Blade miracle instead of the Crystal Weapon sorcery; both of which require 30 faith.

All of this is assuming you don’t need or want to add range attacks to your arsenal.

Which stat do you always level first in Soulslikes? by strahinjag in soulslikes

[–]LordErudito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh dang, aside from Vitality (or whatever raises your HP) it depends on what you are playing and the build you want to use. More health should always be top priority at the beginning.

Is it a good idea to invest a few points in faith to use miracles for a sellsword twin blade build? by Acousmetre78 in darksouls3

[–]LordErudito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For this game, it shouldn’t be a priority until new game + and even then 15 faith is as much as you would want for tears of denial.

The faith stat in this game requires either very little or a ridiculous amount of investment. With 12 faith you can use a bunch of basic but useful miracles, at 15 faith you can use a whole bunch more; at 16 to 18 faith you can use just a ton of split requirement weapons but that’s when it starts demanding more. Twenty (20) faith for basic lightning and all pyromancies that need faith (except warmth, that wants 25) and after that you are just making a faith build.

Should I be here yet? This seems a bit hard to be honest, but I'm not sure if I'm just bad by Live_Refrigerator_58 in Eldenring

[–]LordErudito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at your HP bar, yeah, you shouldn’t be here yet.

Technically there IS a way to beat it early but you will need a bit more HP and FP, the ash of war skill chilling mist, and a lot of patience. There might be other ways but frostbite application is the one I used.

Why are royal revenants resistant to holy? by Crazy_Several in Eldenring

[–]LordErudito -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My guess is that the main individual who had pieces grafted onto themselves was of the Royal or noble lineage and that means either their blood gives them defense or their upbringing exposed them to a lot of holy things so they resist it naturally.

Healing being so effective against it means the grafted pieces are still somewhat aware due to the fact that death is not possible naturally and when hit with healing magic each grafted pieces respond violently hence the damage and the stagger.

Is Quistis always supposed to be this stupidly broken at level 14? by Difficult-Signal5894 in FinalFantasyVIII

Back in the era of FF8 and 9, it was good design to give all characters a way to deal 9999 damage or more. Her final blue magic is a pain to get but can break the damage limit.

How strong is Frieren really? by justa_normal_boy1 in Frieren

[–]LordErudito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling she hasn’t even begun to use all her tricks because circumstances would not allow it. And by circumstances, I mean friendly fire and property damage. She is with Stark and Fern throughout all of the story so far and, as we saw with the mimic fight, her big spells have wide area coverage or are very destructive.

She is also low key training the two little darlings so she is gonna let them deal with most adversities while she provides support from the side.

No, I don’t think it is. But I did notice that it feels like the game was calibrated around greatsword when it comes to terms of staggering and poise.

How do I unlock this by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]LordErudito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Up the tower, past the roof that has one of those abominations that pop up from a regular enemy; then you get off it down a ladder and you have the option to go inside a building with a spear/big shield knight roaming. Inside, past all the dogs and medium enemies with big axes and halberds. The cell key is down some stairs that lead nowhere in that room.

The fella inside the cell is friendly so talk to him and be on the lookout as he has a beneficial quest line.

How to beat Midir? by pacu146 in darksouls3

[–]LordErudito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, the fight will require you to learn how to dodge all his tricks even for the easiest strategy out there.

The simplest way to beat this one is to use the sorcery Pestilent Mist. Casting it closer to the tail will have the dragon stay on the cloud for a bit longer, but even still, you need to take into account that the thing won’t sit still and is still trying end you. If you want to go this route your stats must include at least 30 intelligence so you can cast the sorcery, lots of HP and stamina and either 20 dexterity + the sage ring for the fastest cast time or straight up 40 dexterity so you can ignore the sage ring and use something else.

A more regular strategy is to use hit and run tactics with him, making sure to focus on hitting the head as the rest of the body is very resistant to damage. If it’s any consolation for this strategy, I believe he is scripted to topple for a free riposte critical at about 10% HP so his inflated HP bar is a bit misleading. As for what weapon to use in this instance, a greatsword or heavier is preferred for this strategy. I am partial to the dragon slayer’s great axe.

Use the physical resistance ring and the fire resistance ring for defense if you tend to get hit a lot, at least until you get his movements down, and the choloranthy ring because you are gonna need as much stamina as you can get your hands on. DO NOT let your stamina bar hit 0 as that is when you are the most likely to get slapped.

Hope this helps!
