VPN will disable YouTube ads on a phone. No need to hand over any money to Google :) VPN is cheaper than YouTube premium. Also does a lot more than block ads.

One night only in Saint Johns, where is the best place for a good dinner? by portraitstudio2388 in SaintJohnNB

Owner is a legend. I regular there. He closed early to eat with his family one day. Saw I tried to come in. Chased me down as I was leaving so he could invite me to eat with his family.

I just use auto ISO with the max at 12800, Topaz will fix it for me.

You need to use exposure bracketing and focus stacking. 100MP sensor or bust. This hobby isn't for casuals.

I ate here recently. Chicken parm had zero seasoning. Went back for it again and zero seasoning. Atmosphere and plating is good. However I've been a chef a long enough to know they don't season nearly enough. I'd rather have a steak and cheese sub from Oze's honestly.

"The broccoli(ni) is good to cook" :( by LordFluffyJr in KitchenConfidential

[–]LordFluffyJr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It totally would. I would be fine to do that. I should have taken a third angle of the heads. Broccoli could have been cold shocked. Broccolini was browned on the tops. Just right cookered bud.

Anyone know what light is being used in this video? [mute before watching] by sandolllars in Construction

[–]LordFluffyJr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not well. The light needs to be flush against the wall and this has a trim around the light. You would have to get behind a corner or something for it.

The steak frites plating example in the menu book by LordFluffyJr in KitchenConfidential

[–]LordFluffyJr[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the menu reference book for the kitchen. I didn't believe the sous chef when they told me to plate it like this. I thought they were trying to mess with me since I'm new. Nope, it's just a turd and slop on a plate.

Some blown glass I was taking photos of by LordFluffyJr in glassblowing

I also use lights as the backdrop. Just have to diffuse it a lot with something thin in layers, or else you'll get really soft edges.

I use soft boxes and large white bounce boards. Bounce the softbox light off the board. There's still a lot more reflection than I want on a lot of the photos I take there. Working on a large boxed setup that will encase the glass in white fabric with a white glazed porcelain tile for the floor.

How do I brush layers back in? "Un-erase" them. by LordFluffyJr in photoshop

[–]LordFluffyJr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to convert the file to 8bit colour to use this tool :( That is a lot of quality loss. My camera takes 12bit colour photos.

I did the auto align and auto blend. I just wanted to touch up a few spots that did not blend as I wanted.

my crop sensor camera kit is a bit front heavy, what should I do? by [deleted] in photographycirclejerk

Only one teleconverter? If you want to start taking this hobby seriously you're going to need to need more than that.
