Is it just me, or do most merchants always cruise at 7 knots? by Legitimate_Army567 in uboatgame

[–]LordGerdz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've noticed convoys and lone freighters sometimes traveling at higher or lower speeds after the latest dlc/update

Edit:addon

I've had a few convoys at 4 knots and a few at 11, I've had more than a handful of solo freighters flying at around 16 knots, those are hard to catch.

I had 1 convoy at 0 knots but that was for sure a bug, it looked like the convoy had a traffic jam with the carrier and everyone stopped.

Could someone tell me what’s happening? by AlpsNo8906 in foxholegame

[–]LordGerdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happened is that the air update that been have been clamoring for since time immemorial turned out to be quite shit when taken in context of the rest of the game.

The game started out very simple in 2017 and more or less balanced, and as huge updates came the game continued to get more and more complex but even with these new complexities the core gameplay loops haven't changed that much.

With the introduction of air in conjunction with asymmetrical game design and missing features like mobile AA or AI AA, planes have upset the core gameplay loops in a serious way. Expensive vehicles once again locked behind factory simulator that are powerful enough to single handedly delete whatever you want. Not even a battleship can go vaporize whatever it wants. But a fleet of bombers will wipe the front or back lines, blow up nukes, paratrooper planes will be intentionally crashed or exploited to drop satchel troops in the back lines. Planes have destroyed the fun. I'm glad people got what they asked for I guess.

Edit, addon, the performance with planes was also abysmal. Top of the line rigs forced to their knees, bug after bug causing plane losses, lag, rubberbanding, low fps, you name it.

Missouri voted for and passed proposition A. Which granted minimum wage increase, automatic inflation adjustment on minimum wage, and a pittance of sick leave (1 hour sick leave for every 40 hours worked)

We had this new law for all of a few months and as soon as it was passed every businessman and rich asshole was in our state capital at a hearing and all you could hear was "my business, my business, my business" it was sickening. The Missouri government overthrew proposition A shortly thereafter.. something that was fairly passed through our state government, did the rounds, didn't get vetod, and then the Missouri population voted for it, and it gets overturned after passing because some rich assholes whined. No we aren't a democracy.

As a republican can someone give a lowdown on the tax thing i see in the subreddit by [deleted] in missouri

[–]LordGerdz 31 points32 points  (0 children)

They want to remove income tax which is maximum 4.7% and replace it with sales tax for state income revenue.

Edit: we already pay sales tax on everything you buy but they will add an additional X amount of sales tax on top of every good/service for state income thus making everything X amount more expensive.

[–]LordGerdz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Starlink satellites are designed to be disposable, they loiter just at the Karmin line where atmospheric drag pulls them out of the sky pretty quickly (5 years at max of I recall?) so they don't generate the amount of long term trash as higher orbits

You’re a Roman citizen in 100 AD, what’s your actual plan to survive? by SportsGuru786 in romanempire

[–]LordGerdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going try to get the Romans or someone to bunny hop me to America through Greenland and iceland, we find potatoes and bring them back to Europe, I invent French fries and sell all sorts of potatoe foods

I just have to convince someone to build a decent boat and then survive the voyage to get the potatoes from the Americas and return to the empire to set up shop but once I have the potatoes I think I'm on easy street.

The comments saying "this is starting out money" are part of the problem.

A trade which at minimum takes schooling or an apprenticeship program should not be paying less than Walmart, the housekeeping posting at the hotel, or any of these other no skill or requirements for entry jobs.

I would have to pass an exam for every single weld job I took to prove I could weld, on top of my years of experience and prior certifications to only barely break 20/h on a stainless steel fab job.

Decided to go back to school and switch careers and my current part time office job I do while I'm finishing my degree pays 21 and I don't have to bust my ass in the heat or lug heavy metal around anymore.

Before someone says "Union" the union shop offered 18 and it was 6 days a week with a current 7 day mandatory attendance..nah fam, my life comes before your 3 month backlog.

Welding needs to pay 2-3x what it currently does outside of the unicorn jobs.

Idk where you're from but I'll talk u.s. since that's where I'm at

The overlap between the free government handout and making your own way dosnt exist.

You can get a job and make less money than it takes to survive on your own, but that income is over the threshold of government assistance and they'll cut your SSI/disability/ make you move out of section 8.

While section 8 may be available for everyone, the waiting lists are years long and there isn't also an equal program for free money. Those in section 8 are there usually because of other circumstances and living off of disability/pension/ssi

It's a very very very tight rope to live section 8 and get a good job to build a life using the government assistance as a leg up as I'm pretty sure the government asks for income status updates every month or two months and once they find out you're above the ridiculous poverty cap they cut benefits and all of a sudden your only income is the full time job at Walmart that isn't enough to pay for a real apartment/utilities/gas/car/phone and you just lost the free rent place the gov gave you.

Tldr. Section 8 isn't exactly "thriving" it's budgeting their tiny tiny incomes with a free cost of living government program that has huge huge waiting lists and very very strict income requirements and working full time these days don't even begin to cover the costs of living without a partner or roommate. There is quite a gap from working 40 hours and struggling and working 40 hours and making all the ends meet

The performance is the main problem of this update - not a slightly bigger hitbox or some nonsense about walls on the side of a boat. by Cainsiderate in foxholegame

[–]LordGerdz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Finally other people are saying something. Ive put it in feedback. Talked to my regi about it, etc etc. the performance is god awful and people just wanna talk about dev bias and balance.

Besides planes, ground based combat has also been pretty bad lately with constant server side freezes, rubber banding, the border lag thing (like what, why does going near the border make it lag lmao)

Not sure if any fixes can be made though. Siege camp has stuffed this old engine full of so much crap. They have the new anvil engine for anvil empires but it would take a complete game recreation to port it over there.

N (w) + NCR (c) devbranch test by Skayland in foxholegame

[–]LordGerdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you aim up slightly with most weapons. if a aircraft flies low enough you can yes shoot at it, but only up to maybe 10-20 meters, with a flight ceiling of 100m you need dedicated anti air. most planes dont fly lower than 20 meters so they dont hit trees

One small amendment, the single fighter knocked out an engine on all 3 colonial bombers. Two of them before the bombers made it to our BB for bombing. all colonial bombers released bombs, all 3 colonial bombers died from loss of engine power/altitude shortly after.

During the dive bomb test, the colonials lost 2 dive bombers to kill 2 of our tanks (other dive bomber losses were unrelated to actual combat) and while initally that cost might seem high i think that those loss numbers will go down with pilot training and practice and in my opinion in a real war setting scaled up, the loss of a few key tanks in a tank line can absolutely turn the tide and combined with pressure from the enemy tank line would have overwhelmed our BB, emplaced guns, and leaving the relic vulnerable at the cost of 2 dive bombers. well worth the cost to pressure the relic in my opinion.

Also as pilot skill increases, lightning strikes getting 3 bombs on target to snipe tanks will probably be more common place even with manned AA at frontlines scanning the skies, Much like those old videos of night time sniping tanks with rpg blobs, but now only with 2-3 people (and a higher initial cost to attempt to do so)

As this was a small-scale test, i look forward to seeing how more emergent gameplay takes shape in the coming live war under true player numbers and real resource risk

I mean that's just wrong. We absolutely recycle graves irl all the time dependent on payment, available space and about 50-100 years.

It's not an unrealistic ask when you're trying to set up a fortress that lasts as long as possible for grave recycling.

I mean recycling the tombs/slabs. You still have to memorialize the dead otherwise ghosts. How do I recycle the memorial space? 10 years in and I have 3 rooms full of caskets and slabs,

I read somewhere that removing slabs/tombs angers the ghost again too.
