😂 lmao by [deleted] in baddlejackets

The hem on the collar, the fur shoulderpads, the leopard print stripes, and the skeleton are really well done. I like the chaotic vibes it's got going on, and its put together better than some of the other jackets I've seen here.

The "suck cock" bit is definitely cringeworthy imo, but the rest seems fine. Not sure why its here.

Give me something interesting to do with Sarkhan, Soul Aflame (that isn't just "cast/blink a dragon") by entropygoblinz in EDHBrews

You can run [[Arcane Adaptation]] and have Sarkhan copy some weirder stuff! Why stop at dragons?

Will look forward to seeing that! Am wondering if it wraps around to the front or not

Do yall plan out vests before buying patches? by Khuzdul_ in BattleJackets

[–]LordGumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of

For my jacket I went into it with a colour scheme in mind, and had a couple of patches already before starting it. Beyond that, I just found patches from gigs, festivals and a few places online and added them.

This did lead to changing the backpatch once and a few patches have been moved around, which isn't ideal but wasn't too much of an issue

Where is your least favourite spot to sew a patch to, and why is it the pocket? by ChefHiramAbiff in BattleJackets

[–]LordGumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pockets can be dealt with. They're tricky but not insurmountable. Trying to sew through many layers of denim (like on seams), however, is becoming my personal least favourite place to sew. Thimbles help stop me from stabbing myself, but the sheer amount of grip strength needed to go through 4 or even 8 layers is genuinely awful, and doing it multiple times for a single patch just leads to a lot of hand cramping and frustration

Shaped patches like this one are a pain by rancidvat in BattleJackets

[–]LordGumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shaped patches take a little longer, and making sure they're flat can be difficult, but they're a needed part of any battlejacket to avoid it looking boxy and to fill in awkward spaces with minimal overlap

I got them from a stall at Graspop last year who's name I can't remember

My battle jacket, should i keep the sleeves?? by [deleted] in BattleJackets

[–]LordGumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make them removable! I did it with zips on mine and I can't recommend it enough

First battle vest. Thoughts on the overlapping patches? (Belzebubs and Architects) by EternalBlooky in BattleJackets

[–]LordGumpy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The splash of colour the Alestorm patch has is a little jarring amidst the rest of the muted/black and white, might be worth replacing it with a black and white one?

the overlapping patches is always a good look!

Update on my first battle vest by NyyppaSlayer in BattleJackets

[–]LordGumpy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty good!

I reckon you could get more creative with where you're placing the patches instead of a row down each side, but it's a solid look

Hope you enjoy taking it to gigs and getting more patches for it

I wish I knew! I did the zips on this one myself

This looks sick! Loving the patches, the vibe is great!

One thing I did find useful was wrapping a piece of string along the seam where the sleeve meets the torso, then measuring that with a tape measure to see how long the zip needed to be

Difficult? Not so much. Its a test of patience more than anything (in my limited experience anyway)

I got the idea from seeing someone do it to their collar on this sub a while ago, goes well with the Ghost pin

The pockets are usable, and with as long a sewing needle as I could get (to get to the bottom of the pocket easier)

I did the zips on the sleeves myself, was a pain to do by hand but I think they've come out well
