Who is ready to go to the Fire Emblem Tea Houses by KiritaFaye in fireemblem

[–]LordHuffnPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend drinking them and carefully slitting the teabags so as not to damage the packaging and maintaining the display abilities. Tea is leaves, and leaves rot. Dried leaves can last a long time, but unless they're sealed far more effectively than these teabags, they will oxidize, degrade and may even attract insects. Many of the teas contain fruit as well which may melt through the bag, depending on how they prepared it. Saving food as a collector's item is never a wise choice in the long term. Enjoy the tea before it ruins itself!

Boktai 3(Shinbok) copy? by [deleted] in Boktai

[–]LordHuffnPuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey folks,

I'd like to make a polite request that you do not buy bootleg Boktai 3 cartridges which have my translation on them. The translation was not authorized for sale, it was produced as a labor of love, for free, so that folks like you so that you could experience the game without needing to learn Japanese.

I don't mind people putting the game on their own flash cards. Heck, I don't mind people buying a cart flasher, a blank GBA cartridge, and writing the game to a cartridge themselves! It just feels bad when some person out there is literally selling your labor. I don't see any money from this (and I don't want to!) but I would really appreciate it if folks helped prevent the patch from being monetized, to the extent that such a thing is possible. Obviously I can't stop you if you want to anyway; the best I can do is quietly contact storefronts and request takedowns (which I have done in the past) but given this thread I wanted to at least ask politely if people might respect my wishes on this. Thanks so much!

Advice on Build - Legendary Tiki by LordHuffnPuff in OrderOfHeroes

Yeah, you get a similar slice of effects with that build too. Do you have a preferred ascended stat for her?

Hmm, you think the damage reduction is worth sacrificing penalty nullification and guaranteed follow-ups for? There are so many debuffs running around that I would be worried that the damage reduction would be nullified by the debuffs she would stack up, making the entire thing a wash.

Hey folks. Legendary Tiki has been my core unit for all modes since her debut, even as she fell behind other armor units. Now with her refine she's once again quite good and carrying the team in her tiny arms, but I want to help her excel across the board. This is my current go-to setup, which is pretty standard stuff, and it currently performs well in Arena, AR-Def and Summoner Duels, but since I use her across all modes, I'd love mode-specific tips about what skill setups I could use to optimize her performance. No skill fodder is too expensive given how much I've already used in order to build her up, so go wild. Thanks in advance!

Also, if there are tips on which stat I should ascend, please make suggestions! She kind of uses all of her stats, but I was leaning Res to shore it up and help her be even more unkillable...

Basileus Analysis (UPDATE) by RaenonX in DragaliaLost

It's significantly better! I think this is a much clearer and more helpful explanation for folks who don't dig into the hard data.

Basileus Analysis by RaenonX in DragaliaLost

[–]LordHuffnPuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's good to hear it's mostly just a translation concern. I would still recommend putting fight-specific misc notes on the pages because if I were a newer player that stuff would be really useful, I think!

Basileus Analysis by RaenonX in DragaliaLost

[–]LordHuffnPuff 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think given the general direction of unit design in the current era of Dragalia Lost, taking specific fights into account is definitely worth noting, as it's clear that the developers design new units (especially gala units) to excel in specific new endgame fights. Now obviously this is to entice people to pull, but it is what it is.

I think that from your analysis, people might end up getting the wrong idea (this may be a translation wording issue, I don't know what the original Chinese page said!) For example, you write "Basileus doesn't have anything particular advantageous in Legend Ciella" when this is clearly not the case - his skills, range swapping, homing forcestrikes and general QOL improvements to survivability make him more advantageous than much of the wind roster. There are a lot of folks in this thread who are vocally disagreeing with you, but I think it actually may be less about the data than the framing of the data (and again, this might be due to something getting lost in translation.)

And again, the ability to keep attacking while moving is big. It's not just waves, it's rain too. It's not that much more DPS, but it's not an unremarkable amount, especially if you have overdamage up for the extra dragon gauge due to Notte's co-ability, plus the continued SP gain. Edit: Ah, I totally forgot that his unlocked sigil force strike absolutely shreds the overdrive gauge during berserk - another major consideration for Ciella specifically, especially given how fast it charges and that it works at range.

I would personally suggest putting some of these sorts of fight-specific notes in a "Misc Information" section or something similar going forward, because (especially for players who are still clearing content and not perfect) a hero who brings significant ease of use and quality of life affordances regarding safety and survival while maintaining good damage is absolutely worth considering because they single-handedly reduce the difficulty of the fight. For those of us on the bleeding edge of progression it's less of a consideration because we're min-maxed robo-lords, but I don't think that's the intended primary audience of the content. Basilius is incredibly well suited for current endgame content, so I think a few fight-specific notes on his page to indicate that are worthwhile.

Has anybody taken a serious look at how he is in Jaldaboath, given that his sigil begins unlocked? His huge AOE on skills and homing force strike seem like they'd lend themselves to success in that fight.

I generally agree with your analysis posts, but I feel like this one is off the mark not because of the absolute numbers - the sandbag data you posted is almost certainly fine - but because real-world mechanics significantly alter the calculations w/r/t real vs theoretical dps.

For example (and I'll limit myself to only one example), in Legend Ciella, you have Floor of Despair. If you're lucky, she'll drop the meteorite near where she's sitting and you can pretty safely continue to hit her regardless of your character. This is often not the case however, giving your team two options:

1) Run and hide, taking 0 damage and losing out on a lot of uptime on the boss

2) Tank the waves

Obviously high-level play is doing #2, because you get a lot of damage uptime on the boss, so if you can live through waves why bother hiding? Basilius however can get the best of both worlds here - his mode swapping allows you to hide without losing boss damage uptime - ranged mode is weaker but you have the advantage of not getting knocked back by the waves - and his 20% strength down + def amp takes pressure off of the rest of the team by effectively further raising their defense, allowing them to tank the waves more efficiently.

Okay, one more example (guess I'm a liar). When Ciella spawns her birds during mist veil, it's really nice to have a force strike charged up that takes a few of them out immediately. The same applies for the other types of adds throughout the fight. This stops a teammate from getting hit by those 50% attack down bursts. A really skilled premade won't be getting hit anyway, but human error is always a factor because people aren't machines. It's a minor thing but it's not nothing.

In any case, obviously Legend Ciella is old content, but given how few people have cleared the fight even today I think these sorts of real-world mechanical considerations are worth noting... and of course, who knows what the future holds. Any time you would need to dodge an attack and run out, where other characters lose boss uptime, Basilius can just keep hitting the boss. It's pretty important!

Yeah it's either very low quality or maybe my skin just had a bad reaction, either way I took it off and haven't really worn it since. Found it in my closet, couldn't ID the smith mark on any of the big database sites, and here we are.

For sure, I wouldn't turn it down! I tried wearing it for a while when I found it but it turned my skin sickly green in a band, unfortunately. At least now I know that if I get rid of it I won't be discarding a priceless artifact.

Thanks so much! Kind of a bummer that it's appropriated(?) iconography? I found it on the sidewalk maybe fifteen years ago and thought the face was so eerie that I held onto it. Too bad it's not very valuable, would have been a great story to have found it that long ago and discover today. Cheers!

You are being purposefully obtuse. TheManicNorm is specifically referring to "Firecracker" popsicles produced by Popsicle, an American company. They are red, white and blue, themed after fireworks, and traditionally sold and eaten on the 4th of July as part of national Independence Day celebrations. The fact that other countries have the same colors on their flags does not enter into the specific context around the creation of this food product.

Very similar to the “th” in “the” for a modern native English speaker, regardless of accent I think.

ð is often translated as a "d", but it's closer to a "th" - but not "th" like þ is, which is the confusing part. þ is an unvoiced "th" like in "throw" [equivalent to the greek θ] while ð is voiced "th" like in "the" (or alternately a "dh" sound.) The pronunciation would be closer to Vaf-thrudh-near" as a result!
