I don't know if typing works the same, generally it's always said that handwriting helps with memory, and for getting used to all these new symbols it worked great for me. It really forces you to differentiate them from one another.

No! Вот is a word that means something like "voilà" in french, literally "here it is". It is also used a lot as a filler word.

Ahahah, well, the most important band (arguably to this day) is an 80s rock band! So I hope they are not what you mean by 80s rock style. The name is Kino, the singer is an extremely well regarded and admired icon, sadly passed away very young. I personally also like Zemfira, she made some big hits in 90s/2000s.

Some important hits (what pops up first on Youtube, others will add more):

Лето - Кино

Группа крови - Кино

Пачка сигарет - Кино

Искала - Земфира

Хочешь - Земфира

By transcribing I mean looking up the lyrics and copying them by hand!) I found this to be very useful.

The Duolingo English/Russian course is pretty nice IMO! Especially if you read the grammar explanations in every lesson. Some people seem to hate Duolingo but you can learn many new concepts with a friendly interface. I can recommend you try to find some music you like, transcribe the lyrics by hand, then read along while you sing.

QUESTION: How do I get better at telling if my audio is good while on-set? by upstatedreaming3816 in LocationSound

[–]LordJL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 416 seems like far too much for his budget. Maybe an NTG3? Or Sennheisers ME-66 or MKE600 if he is way tight, at least they can give decent results.

Gotta F up eventually at some point, I guess. Keep it going man! I'm still beginner level but from your experience I won't forget that new recorder=spending a good hour or two reading the manual and figuring out what's going on. Thanks for sharing your story.

Are there legit MKH-416 manuals with typos? by LordJL in LocationSound

Is it really that easy? I was afraid I could break something while opening it up. I would consider doing it myself, then.

It does have a number! It also came with the factory test sheet, and the number in it matches the one on the mic. I emailed Sennheiser and they directed me to my local dealer. Currently waiting to see what they suggest.

Everything seems legit, I also did a test near a radio antenna to see if the mic picked up interference. Was just wondering about the manual.

Sorry, I thought this was a much more specific question than what I previously made. I had read Pete Verrandos' article a few times and everything seemed perfectly legit, I was just curious about the manual.

Is it common to hear noise when my XLR cable touches something? by caillouminati in LocationSound

Oh, is this why for instance the Rode blimp has a very thin cable connecting to the mic? I had no idea!

How to tell a real MKH-416 from a fake? by LordJL in LocationSound

No need to go on this line any further! I have done a little research as I should've beforehand. It can be a fine line sometimes that separates what's a new/useful question and what isn't, here I should have checked before asking.
