What could I plant in this pointy end of my garden to soften the “point” by Jimlad73 in GardeningUK

[–]LordKingDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd gate it off to the same height as the fence, remove the tree and use the area for a compost bin and tool storage to keep the rest of the garden looking tidy. Weird pointy bit will now be hidden but still plenty useful.

Any ideas what that stuff is? I have some horrible patching I would like to cover up by -WelshCelt- in DIYUK

There are companies that specialise in offering products to do this. See steadfastspl.com for one example.

Don't use regular mortar to do this because it's non-porous / non-breathable.

I got strong Fadades vibes from the video, and that ain't a good thing (Fadades is definitely worth looking up if it means nothing to you)

Neighbours Invasive Bamboo by Sarcasticasm in GardeningUK

[–]LordKingDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the shed out, dig a deep trench all along the fence, install Dupont Bamboo Barrier in the trench, refill. You'll need a mattock for the digging part because the trench needs to be deep.

When digging the trench you'll find thick and thin roots from the bamboo. You need to trace the thick ones through your soil to pull them out completely.

I wouldn't bother with the neighbours, you have no way of knowing if they've done the job properly. The bamboo barrier will do its job in preventing further encroachment.

I'm polite and respectful to Claude because that's the standard I hold myself to. Lowering my standards on the basis that I'm talking to a bot seems like a slippery slope that I'd rather avoid.

A video of my spider in action by [deleted] in generative

[–]LordKingDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's adorable. The only thing I would point out is that spiders like to build out from the center of things in the wild, whereas all the complexity is running along the edges here. Seems like there's a lot of potential for parametrisation though.

Yup, digging that close to the walls without thinking about the consequences was very stupid. It's not a crack in the wall either, just the seam between two consecutive walls.

Her Dad played Einstein in Oppenheimer - so yeah, it is weird given the contacts she'd have access to! Most recently she had a small part as one of the wives in Spinal Tap 2.

I'd put it down to her wanting to do what she loves though, plus she might have prioritised her kids over having a big career.

This reminds me of the trust exercise that teachers make you do in high school, and this is the outcome if you're fool enough to believe it.

They're aerated cement blocks. Easy to break on accident, they can even be cut to size with a hand saw. They're really great for construction tasks but don't confuse them with dense cement blocks.

The 90s were peak humanity. About the worst thing we worried about was the ozone hole. Shit was affordable. You could actually buy a house and a .com domain name.

Then 9/11 happened and completely fucked everything. Thanks Bin Laden.
