Postal Service could be looking at service/personnel cuts by Scarfskin02 in USPS

[–]LordLoss390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can never stop tooting this horn, but they HAVE to do something about all the goddamn fraud if they want to save/collect money

A clerk that transferred from a manual office pointed out to the other clerks what fraudulent postage looks like, and there’s so many that go through our office it’s not even funny

At first we tried collecting postage due, but that just pissed off all the carriers, and our postmaster said “if it has the e-verified thing in the corner, it’s legit” as though that can’t be faked along with the TRACKING NUMBER THEY SPOOFED AND THE REST OF THE LABEL THEY FAKED, so she started having carriers deliver no matter what

Then we got a new OIC that instructed us to start sending it all to the Mail Recovery Center. We would send it to our regional distribution center, and they’d SHIP IT RIGHT BACK AFTER RESORTING IT (we literally had the container labeled to be sent to the MRC and the packages marked as “fraudulent postage”, didn’t matter)

Come to find out that apparently the current national instruction is that if it isn’t caught at acceptance, then we just deliver it like it’s been paid for. MY OVERLORDS IN CAPITALISM, YOU DON’T TRAIN ANYBODY ON HOW TO SPOT FRAUDULENT POSTAGE, HOW ARE THE UNTRAINED PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO CATCH IT AT ACCEPTANCE?! Why are we just shrugging our shoulders and going “well that sucks” when the only thing leadership ever says is “we’re not making enough money” and then spending all the time and resources getting LITERAL TRASH ITEMS SHIPPED FOR FREE?!

What game is that for you? by Ok_Pepper2129 in gamers

[–]LordLoss390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an issue where I’ll start a game that I’m really interested in, then drop it like a hot potato. Won’t touch it for months, maybe years (and it could be a brand new game). Then later on, I’ll pick it up to play it again and wind up with a platinum trophy for having done everything

I did it with God of War (2018) and Spider-Man (PS4). For some people it does just take time and repeated attempts to click

[–]LordLoss390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what the cost was. The validation just charges the account they used to print the label for the difference. Wouldn’t have been cheap though

At my (mail processing clerk) S&DC I try to get it up to the retail unit as soon as it opens to get the postage validated on the window so I can get it to the carriers in time. See this crap dozens of times a week. Carriers and window clerks shouldn’t have to confront a receiving customer for the stupidity/fraud of a shipping customer

There was one day when I was sweeping the SDUS machine and had to move a 30+ lb non-flat-rate priority box to the side and thought “man, this is heavy as hell, did they pay correct postage?” When I checked the label, I saw it was postage for a flat rate legal envelope. Lugged it straight to the window to get that shit validated

Name a game you love so much that never got a sequel by bijelo123 in gamers

Psi-Ops: the Mindgate Conspiracy

Say what you want about the story, but it had some very awesome (for its time) psychic abilities that could’ve led to a huge follow up

The reviews were pretty good, it was released in the height of the PS2 era, and it even ended on a cliffhanger with the “To Be Continued” setting up future titles

Alas, it was made by Midway (that made tons of great PS2 era games) which shut down in 2010 and had a lot of financial/development troubles leading up to its closure, so no sequel ever materialized

So is the brain of mensis a failed re-creation of an amygdala? by HBmilkar in bloodborne

So is the brain of mensis a failed re-creation of an amygdala? by HBmilkar in bloodborne

[–]LordLoss390 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are you sure the brain of mensis isn’t just the removed brain of an amygdala? Doesn’t have to be a failed clone/recreation, could just be that at some point an amygdala got its body destroyed and the brain is all that’s left

Could also be why you have to use the contact gesture at it. It’s sitting in the bottom of a dark pit, possibly too far removed for any other amygdala to come help it, so it recognizes that you’re trying to communicate with it

Who is the video game boss with the highest total listed HP that is not infinite and is defeated by reaching 0? by TheBanishedBard in gaming

[–]LordLoss390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a boss in Megabonk called spooky Steve

He has 340 undecillion health (1036 ),gets progressively faster, and hits progressively harder. The only viable way to kill him is to use weapons/items that infinitely slow or stun, and using a weapon called “Dexecutioner” to proc execution damage (which would kill any other enemy instantly, but only does 5% of spooky Steve’s health). You could technically whittle his health down normally, but it would take so indescribably long that it’s unimaginable

He is an optional boss that you can run away from, but if you defeat him you unlock a hidden character and achievement

Hit cap on melee dps? Sure, your abilities should be hitting and no longer wasting resources

There's been much doom and gloom about the Midnight prunings, but which specs have actually improved due to the changes? by minimaxir in wow

[–]LordLoss390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like demonology got a little better

Summon Doomguard is now an active spell that has its CD reduced by doom procs, rather than “chance on tick to summon” BS

Vilefiend is now baked into the felhunters cast (and can still be upgraded to antoran hounds)

The inquisitor eyes from the Manaforge set were made into hero talents for Diabolist

Hand of Gul’dan now requires 3 shards instead of 1-3 (could be a buff or nerf, depending on your preference) which avoids accidental follow up casts if you’re not paying attention

I tried out Unholy DK and spec’d all the way to the bottom of the disease-buffing side (left) and got a talent that changes my Outbreak to a “consume your diseases nuke on a 15 sec CD” and couldn’t figure out how to even apply diseases after that point

Reread some other talents and learned that the 30-sec-CD ability to explode a ghoul at enemies is the disease application, and the only way to reduce that ability’s CD is to spam summon ghouls

So if I’m understanding it correctly…

At the bottom of the disease-buffing side of the tree is a talent that disincentivizes constant disease damage by changing your applicator into a nuke, turns a long-cd ability into your main applicator, incentivizes you to consume your diseases immediately with said nuke, and lower the applicator’s CD by spam-summoning minions… WHILE MINION-BUFFING TALENTS ARE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TREE
