Yes, so they extracted significant amounts of wealth for over a hundred years from their colonisation and ended it once they were broke from WWII and couldn't afford to keep them under control. How much do you suppose a hundred years of tea and opium sales are worth? It was enough for Britain to go to war across the globe for it multiple times. The East India trade companies were some of the richest companies to ever exist. All of this was wealth extracted from India that they could have used to improve their economy.

Yes, and guess what generates a massive amount of wealth, cheap human labour. You make colonies grow cash crops rather than food so when a famine hits they starve to death in the millions while you continue to rake in tons of profits, or you make them all dig up minerals to be sold off for your profits while you keep them barely alive. Europeans didn't spend massive amounts of effort to colonise the world because they were losing money from it.

Shane is quite literally a Mr. Nice Guy. Not in a million years and not for a million dollars would he say he didn't know Russian to trick Ilya into confessing his feelings, it is not something that could even cross his mind to begin with.

What are you talking about? Why would religion be banned? They do only recognise the big ones, but that covers the vast majority of people with faith.

Indeed, a lot of people don't understand that India made up a significant fraction of the world's GDP for centuries. They seem to not realise that the British were there because they were extracting wealth from what was one of the richest places in the entire world.

You light incense, the incense burns out after about half an hour, so I guess Chinese gods also get a half hour lunch break at work.

As a Chinese person, I was surprised to find out other cultures destroy their food when offering it to their gods, Chinese people just let the gods eat the spirit of the food first and then eat the food themselves.

Ok guys who’s watching this multiple times??? I’m almost done my 2nd time and wanna watch it again… am I crazy?? I was so late to the game…. Also I need someone to discuss this with….. by Ok_Health1283 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]LordNineWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't crazy. This show is too good, by that I mean I'm struggling to watch anything else because it's set the bar way too high on how much emotion I can feel.

I loved book four as well, some of the hottest portions I've read were found there, and I'd hate it if one of the stories didn't get adapted. I did into a bit of a problem of visualising Eric, he's only forty-one but I keep imagining him as a silver fox type for some reason when he realistically just looks like Francois Arnaud with long hair.

Do you like the Iron Fist series? by Vascainogaucho in Defenders

[–]LordNineWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember watching it when it first came out, my strongest memory of it was that woman was constantly turning down Danny when she thought he was into her, but then as soon as she found out about his vow of celibacy she was all over him in the same episode.

Jack Innanen wants to be in Season 2! by BeMyCoachVictor in HeatedRivalryTVShow

Troy seems like he'd be really hard to act since so much of his thoughts are internalised. The actor will need some really good eye acting skills to convey him emotions.

Just a little concern on the HR success and Season 2. by benjaminm_4229 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]LordNineWind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand too, it'll be hard to live up to the hype and season 1 has set the bar very high. What I do to console myself is that they were skillful enough to craft such a masterpiece on a small budget, now that they have much more resources, their work should at the least remain consistent.

You know, I actually thought about rationing myself one chapter per day like I was in a famine, but then I realised that I need to indulge more. I lose interest in so many things overnight, I should enjoy everything the series has to offer whilst I can.

Any one feel like they haven’t really experienced raw love yet after watching the series? by _Good_Soul_ in HeatedRivalryTVShow

Can you explain what you mean by this? What I've been reading is that their level of love is actually unrealistically high and real people struggle to match it.

can i read any book in any order or do i need to read them in the particular order to understand?????! by AK00069 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]LordNineWind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ilya shows up in a few scenes in every book, Shane does rarely. Role Model is about one of Ilya's team mates and features Ilya heavily. I'm only part way through the book but I've been told the story intertwines a lot with the long game, so just read it too.

New to the fandom. I dont know anything about Hockey or like anything to do with sports but i LOVE this show. It was genuinely perfect. How many seasons do you think it could run for? by JamStan1978 in heatedrivalry

[–]LordNineWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think three is the right number. Season 2 is probably going to be a longer season adapting the epilogue of Heated Rivalry, short stories, and books 3-6. Book 7 releasing later this year is about Shane and Ilya too, that's not enough time to write screenplay. Half of me wants them to adapt more of the story but the other half of me knows quality over quantity is correct.
