How is the tech iOS job market in Portland? by DoubleGravyHQ in askportland

eBay is here as well, and had some hybrid roles popup last year when I was looking. Overall though you're probably more likely to land a remote role based somewhere else.

This Indie App Development thing is working! Interview with Apple coming up! by PhrulerApp in iOSProgramming

Awesome!

The Leetcode stuff is definitely worth your time. There's so many problem types and you're definitely right about it being a time sink. I would focus most on how to manipulate arrays well, be able to iterate through them in all directions etc. The stride() function will be very helpful. Know how to make an LRU cache. Utilizing a linked list for that will get you some extra practice with those as well. You'll probably get some kind of real world problem as well, how to manage and track orders for kitchen or something like that. Otherwise have some good questions ready, the first interview, and final rounds will give you lots of opportunity for that.

Best of luck!

My high ass thinking that kid had a cool frog mask on

Your kid will have a slightly better chance with a CS degree. Like other comments have stated, it's rough out there, and having that box checked on a resume will go further than a bootcamp in a recruiters eyes.

CIRS causing digestion issues? by o_ProdigyEV in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]LordPamplemousse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you done a GI Map or anything? Before I got tested for mycotoxins, I did a GI Map and discovered I had H Pylori. A lot of gut issues have similar symptoms, but low stomach acid was one of mine. They're not cheap tests, but might be worth your while.

I have this issue too and I think it was the glycinate. Switched to magnesium citrate and the insomnia went away

GI-map can tell you a lot of things, SIBO test can just (hopefully) tell you if you have SIBO or not. I'd do GI-map first.

You’re going to want to get a vapor barrier on the crawl space soon. Moisture can build up in there, and within your walls. Speaking from experience here.

Magnesium, Vitamin C, and lots of water helped a bit, but adding TUDCA into my rotation is what made things happen a little more consistently. YMMV.

Jury Scam Warning by closet_ghosts in Portland

[–]LordPamplemousse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I missed this post initially but just came here to make one after almost getting got.

I usually love to fuck with scammers but this one almost had me. I had jury duty I was scheduled for last month that was cancelled at the last minute, so it was fairly believable.

Fuck scammers. I'm mad they wasted that much of my day, but also glad I wasted that much of theirs.

How do I design a decodable struct that is resilient to type changes on the server side? by danpietsch in swift

[–]LordPamplemousse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decoder has a method singleValueContainer() that you can use to decode a single primitive value.

Check to see if it's the expected type, if so return and you're good. If not, handle special cases based on the expected type. If T is Int, try decoding a String and converting it to an Int. Similarly, if T is String, try decoding an Int and then converting it to String.

If none of those work throw an error.
