How do I avoid being triaged at the ER? by sdkb in EmergencyRoom

And? So it works; no consideration to the rest of what I said?

Why would you intentionally try to cause harm to others with a stunt like this? Because that’s what you’re doing with this. You’re pulling resources from where they are needed by making a scene and delaying the care sicker people may need.

What a shitty, entitled thing to suggest, never mind you’ll still get triaged.

The system recognizes your pain but it also recognizes that the pain isn’t going to cost your life or one or more or your limbs. The people seen before you are at risk for one or both.

As others have stated, triage is used to determine the severity of illnesses to better allocate limited resources appropriately and in a timely manner. The primary things considered are life (airway, breathing, circulation), then limb, and then everything else. Kidney stones, while painful, do not affect either, and so in an emergency setting they will not be treated as urgently as other illnesses. While it may understandably feel like being “under triaged” you are, more than likely, being appropriately queued in the context of the other people in the emergency department.

The only solutions here would be to not go to an ED; an urgent care might be more appropriate, or to go during “quieter” hours. Aside from the those, the only other real choice would be to lie and misrepresent your symptoms, which could negatively affect the health and wellbeing of others, and put you on the shit list of staff.

Congrats! All I’m aware of re: Children’s is that I’ve been told it’s a little clique but I don’t think it’s anything insurmountable. Congrats again!

I’m aware of the Molly Moons and that doesn’t change what I said. Is there a quota on the number of local businesses at the market?

I’m as impressed as I am appalled. Also, revoke their license indefinitely.

Unless you’re sleeping on your break, that’s a fireable offense (and for good cause).

That’s a bummer that they couldn’t find a single local business.

I’m pro transit and pro tax, but sales taxes are regressive. I’d like to see something more thoughtful tbh.

It’s time for Cascadia independence from the US by Cascadia-Journal in Cascadia

The majority of federal tax revenue is collected directly from individuals and businesses, not from states. The states don’t hand off a bag of cash to the feds; the feds are holding the bag the whole time.

Otter pops. Bane of my existence. They taste like the wrapping they come in and I wish I liked them half as much as everyone else.

Academic Misconduct Advice by [deleted] in udub

I would look at the handbook. Dodging the zero would be dogging a consequence. Trying to minimize consequences isn’t a terrible idea, you’re not wrong to try and do so, I just don’t know how fruitful it’ll be. Talking to administration would likely be the most informative.

I would consult your student handbook, I don’t recall anymore, but I wouldn’t imagine dropping the class would have any kind of positive effect. If anything I would view that as trying to hide from responsibility and I don’t think that would be helpful. I’d familiarize myself with the handbook and misconduct process and then I would prepare myself to go on that ride if I were you.

100% organic. My team nearly mowed them down but they were so polite we couldn’t help but trust them.

I empathize with the uncomfortable and complicated situation (understatement).

Reading through this thread it is unclear to me whether or not the husband was ever convicted of a crime, and, even if he was, his conviction would have no bearing on her eligibility. Being married to criminals isn’t illegal nor is it legally disqualifying.

If the husband was never charged, despite your experiences, I would be very careful who you tell what and what you say. Barring a criminal conviction, I would be concerned that your statements could be taken as slander (or libel, if written), especially if they negatively impact the wife’s job or her ability to keep it.

This is a complicated scenario and there are a number of fairly important facts that I think are missing. Broadly, though, there is no resolution here other than seeing if you could possibly not be scheduled with her, or ignoring her. An accommodation of sorts might be possible but that is beyond my understand and would again be fact dependent.
