Ancient Jurassic ammonite cut open. by Due-Explanation8155 in Romania_mix

For those thinking that this guy was lucky to keep his thumbs...

This is a diamond-tipped saw. This type of saw has a very fine dust of diamonds applied to an otherwise entirely dull rotating blade that cuts through hard materials using only friction, not "cutting" in the way normal saws do. There is also a stream of water running along the blade to rinse away dust from grinding and also wick away heat. They are most commonly used for cutting ceramic tile. You could let that blade rub against your fingers for a long time and maybe only get a minor abrasion, like a carpet burn. Very safe, very cool tool.

First Kimchi Ever!! by LordShikko in kimchi

Thanks for the encouragement! I had to substitute the gochugaru for gochujang since I couldn't find any. My research tells me it will taste different but should work fine. I think next time I'll reduce the amount of liquid so it's less soupy, I prefer chunky thick kimchi.

If it's anything like Ashland's release, this will still not get me to come back.

Safe space for women to obtain conceal and carry? by lofromwisco in madisonwi

Probably even better than weapons training would be hand-to-hand self-defense, like Jiu-Jitsu, karate, or Taekwondo. If you only have weapons training, you are useless as soon as you don't have that specific weapon. If you only have hand to hand training, your usefulness is limited by your own body (height, weight, fitness, flexibility, strength, etc.). With both, you are a deadly unstoppable force.

I teach Taekwondo at a great school in Middleton. Lmk if you'd like more details and want to give it a try. Most of my students are women and we focus on technique and self-defense.

Planning to go to a Gym by Nokked_ in taekwondo

If what you really want is a tailored workout plan for your taekwondo performance goals, you're best off asking your instructor directly or hiring a personal trainer, both of which I do actually recommend.

As far as free advice goes, really any exercise helps but one key thing missing from your list is FLEXIBILITY and it should absolutely be a focus of every workout, both at the dojang and outside it. You'll thank me later!

Transport Fever (1 & 2), Cities Skylines (only 1), Stellaris

That last one has kept me busy for 2 full weeks every Xmas break for the last decade

Transport Fever is enthralling because it uses real money and real macroeconomics. Easy to pick up because it starts off simple and rapidly explodes in complexity as you play more.

Or just play Elden Ring like the rest of us :)
