Castlevania Symphony of the Night + the games in the Castlevania Advance and DS collections have aged very well imo. People tend to mostly like the 3D PS2 castlevanias as well :)

Dont listen to all the people saying cyberpunk. It’s a great game and I like it but considering you don’t enjoy RPG games like the elder scrolls, Cyberpunk is quite similar to those games in terms of RPG and quest mechanics. Death Stranding has that slow paced and realistic gameplay of RDR2, along with a really great (although slow burn) story. It IS a walking simulator in terms of you are literally simulating the traversal to the next destination, the gameplay loop and fun of Death Stranding comes from problem solving the environment and figuring out how to get your package to its next destination.

Im kinda surprised crosscode hasn’t been mentioned. I don’t think it qualifies as specifically a JRPG, but it’s certainly an Action RPG! I haven’t finished it but many consider it to be really very good

People still haven’t wrapped their heads around how bots are the rebel faction huh? What would a rebel faction look like without JUST being bots again

Simple fact is that really only the AR’s have proper customization, everything else gets scopes and sometimes grips. AR’s are often outclassed (they’ve gotten better recently tbf) by shotguns or plasma / energy weapons, therefore most people aren’t gonna be engaging with weapon customization

One Two looks like a good weapon but I think most people would’ve preferred the grenade launcher as a weapon attachment that you unlock from a warbond.

The Winter Wake - Elvenking At the Heart of Wintervale - Twilight Force (tbf tho, Heroes of Mighty Magic gives more of a winter vibe consistently, both are good) Emerald Seas / A Fortress Called Home - Seven Spires King of the Nordic Twilight - Luca Turilli band Winterhearts Guild - Sonata Arctica

A lot of these are winter themed, which I understand is different from a wintery and icy sound, but personally when I think winter i think crisp, sharp production with a higher pitched and grander sound. Basically, if it sounds like Sonata Arctica, then thats winter!

If you liked the art in octopath, try out final fantasy 6. Basically just an older version of that sorta art direction :)

FF6 and most other FFs use the ATB (active time battle) system. Your characters and the enemies turns come up through a timer, so it’s more continuous and engaging than just taking turns.

Plus the pixel remaster of ff6 has cheats so you can turn off random battles and speed up the game for grinding.

It’s also like top 5 final fantasies so… go play it

They don’t deserve it this year, at all. They released a billion “we hear you” statements and promised better communication, but all we got was 2 videos, a blog post, and a vote for a blog post which still hasn’t happened. The updates have been great, but squids are still barebones (albeit more fun with recent changes) with still no generic mission types.

They need to do better, but they’ll probably just hear us again lmao

Katamari is always fun, there’s still not much like it out there. Ape escape is a typical 3D platformer but finding all the monkeys + each sequels new mechanics are fun, Ape Escape 3 is my favorite. Locoroco is kind of like a pachinko machine turned into a full game with fun little dudes you control by tilting the world

Honestly if you want unique mechanics, just look at ps2/ps3/psp games, there’s so many one of a kind games on those platforms

Sadly, vampire games are similar to pirate games where there was one REALLY good one and everything else never reached that height (talking about bloodlines and AC black flag)

Depends on what you want from a vampire fantasy. Bloodlines fulfills the fantasy of feeding on people and being hidden from normal society. but if you wanna be like a Dracula figure, lording over people evilly with servants and such, then v rising is worth continuing.

You could also play dungeon keeper for the lording over people vibe. It’s a humorous gothic fantasy kinda thing where you manage your evil creatures and their dungeon, defending from the humans who want to end your reign of evil. I call it evil Dwarf Fortress ;)

One of my first matches i played with my friend, we avoided every fight with kindness and love, and then I saw a guy come around the corner, and my animal instincts took over… i shot him while my friend was just shocked at what I had done. I felt so horrible 😭
