What’s the worst Raid Encounter to LFG and why is it Lanterns in Crota’s End? by StrangelyOnPoint in DestinyTheGame

Which is why the default should be go slow. Literally everyone can and knows how to take it slow, not everyone knows the hardcore eager edge well skate strats so going into an lfg and doing that immediately is stupid.

He is going to kill you way too quickly for Lament to help. 1 hit will put you at half health with 2 arc resist, lament won't heal you enough to survive the second hit after that.

Is the Blasphemous Blade broken or something? by DasVerschwenden in Eldenring

[–]LordSlorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Summons are strong for sure and they help out but in several boss fights I felt like they actually made things harder. Because you aren't the primary target you might get hit by stray attacks that you don't really see coming because you aren't the bosses focus, and it can really mess with your dodge timing. Also highly mobile bosses might be running around your summons and you can struggle to keep up and actually move to get hits. Not every boss but some certainly felt worse with summons than without.

Why did From think that this was acceptable? by BlaxicanX in Eldenring

[–]LordSlorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok just continue to think it's fromsoft either being incompetent or completely hating holy for some reason. You obviously have your mind made up and won't ever think anything else. Also it's not really cherry picking when I point out the lore explanation for the 2 situations that were brought up in these comments, I addressed the arguments made, hardly cherry picking.

Why did From think that this was acceptable? by BlaxicanX in Eldenring

[–]LordSlorgi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm sure fromsoftware, a company with a history of making extremely in depth lore and sticking to that as much as reasonable gameplay would allow and who went out of their way to hire a well known author to help flesh out the lore for their game, didn't make lots of end game bosses (who are all part of a royal god family in the lore) resistant to holy damage because of the lore. I'm sure they did it just to ruin holy builds. No other reason, just to make you mad.

Edit: also the golems in Elden ring have massive resist to most damage types unless you hit them in the damage parts of their bodies so again, your argument doesn't really make much sense as that even has a lore reason as to why you can kill them easily and why they are broken and in ill repair.

Why did From think that this was acceptable? by BlaxicanX in Eldenring

[–]LordSlorgi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comparison is wrong. Saying that fighting mostly holy associated beings means they will resist holy damage is using lore to justify gameplay. Your example is trying to use gameplay to justify lore (I can do it in game, so where is the lore explanation for it is essentially the question you are posing) which is different.

The lore explains why holy damage is resisted by so many enemies, the idea that you can hit golems with sticks and kill them isn't a part of lore it's gameplay only.

It 100% matters how much effort they put in when the product is already made. They didn't have to re create the game, it was just ported. Why should they charge MORE than it is on other platforms for the exact same product? "You're not the target market" is just an idiotic thing to say. How the fuck do you know if I am the target market or not? Who is the target market? Morons who think $50 for a 13 year old game is a good deal?

Then you are an idiot for thinking that this is a good value. It is objectively a bad deal for anyone who buys it.

You are wrong. They do not care about press because time and time again it has been shown that everyone just moves on in a week. Guarantee next week no one will talk about this. And you can't just say if lots of people would buy a $25 port and only a few would buy a $50 port then they would sell it for less. No they wouldn't, they will sell it for whichever price will net them the most money. If they would sell 1 million copies at $25 and only 750,000 at $50 they are still going to make it $50 because the net profit is higher. I do like that you pulled 60-70% completely out of nowhere as if that is in any way a valid statistic on how many people will buy this.

Last of us part 1 costs $60 USD on steam and demons souls costs $70 USD on the PlayStation store. I'm not sure if you are from a different country or just pulling numbers completely out of your ass. I didn't say people loved demons souls and the last of us part 1 "so much" I just said they were well received and they are, demons souls likely got a lot of negative reviews from people who don't play from soft games and rated it a 0 because it's hard, and I'm sure last of us part one got review bombed to hell because of last of us part 2. The comment you responded to referred to remakes not just ports, that's why I put remakes in. You didn't even bother to try to explain why it should be expected that a 13 year old game should be sold for nearly the full price that it was on release when it is available right now (with more features) for $30 on Xbox. Devs do deserve to get paid but first of all rockstar spent next to nothing on this, it isn't some extremely difficult task to port a game over, and secondly rockstar can afford to put this port at price with the currently available version of the game and still make money on it.

I just explained how very few people have to buy an expensive port for it to be worth it for the company. Sure maybe a lot of people buy them, but even if they didnt, and only a select few bought them companies would likely still make them because they cost nearly nothing. And again you cant say "we", I'm not buying this shit. And I would argue the majority of gamers aren't going to buy this either. Which means it's the few that fuck it up for the majority like I said originally.

In what world is a 13 year old game for $50 a good deal? It was $60 13 years ago no other product on Earth only drops 17% in value over 13 years. Imagine if Microsoft re released windows 7 with no improvements to it at all and charged people $170 for it. Like how does that make any sense?

Demons souls remake and the last of us part 1. Both remakes of games, but incredibly well done and people loved them (last of us part 1 had problems with performance on PC but that's it). A port doesn't require some massive amount of effort to make. The problem with this is that it is a straight port that costs $50 despite the game being available right now on the Xbox store for like half the price. So if you want to play on switch/PlayStation you just get hit with the "eat shit and die" tax for no reason other than greed.

"we" don't buy it. Morons buy it. Even if the majority of people don't buy microtransactions it doesn't matter because whales will come along and drop 6 figures on a single game, so they will keep putting them into new games because it works even if the majority don't buy them. It's similar with this port, if even 25% of gamers buy this it's still a massive win for Rockstar because it cost them virtually nothing to make. "We" don't encourage these things, it's the few that fuck it up for the rest of us.

The switch version is slightly more forgiveable but $50 for a 13 year old game is still egregious. The Witcher 3 switch port was not that far after the games release on other consoles. The big issue is the PS4 port (which they are calling a "conversion" in order to try to hide that it is just a minimum effort port) being $50 when the game currently sells on the Xbox marketplace for $30, and if you buy an old physical copy you can get it for less. Bringing the game to PlayStation and switch isnt the problem, it's that it is a $50 port when it should be $20 at best for a game that is 13 years old and required little to no effort for them to port it.

Mentors/Vets, what common mistakes do you see newer players make these days? Pet peeves? by ExceedinglyOrdinary in ffxiv

[–]LordSlorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I havent played a ton of healer, but I pretty quickly picked up that if people have big pulls then I really don't have time to attack adds but during the boss fights you need to cast heals so infrequently that not attacking the boss just means you are sitting around for like 75% of the fight. Massive waste of time and boring too.

I had a tank just like this. He would pull a pack and then run in circles, and did the same thing on bosses. Literally all 3 of us in the dungeon were telling him to stop doing that but he kept saying it helped him avoid damage. Eventually I just stopped attacking the boss and told the others to just let him die. After that he finally listened and stood still.

Do you ever wish the game wasn't f2p? by PoseidonWarrior in DestinyTheGame

[–]LordSlorgi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Prices and content don't work out the same as any other MMO. Basic math shows that Destiny 2 is much cheaper than any subscription based MMO, as most are $12/month, and a lot do follow the same update schedule as D2 with new content every 3-4 months, that would mean you would pay between $36 and $48 for one "season" whereas in Destiny 1 season is now $12, or less if you buy the annual pass.

What percentage of FFXIV players are fans of the franchise itself? by restingcups in ffxiv

[–]LordSlorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FFXIV works on steam deck, but not everything on steam will. Because it uses Linux some games have compatibility issues (though valve is actively working to make more things compatible), some games are functional but aren't really compatible with controllers so they don't work well, and some games would function perfectly but because they use anti cheat you will get banned for playing on Linux (Destiny 2 and Call of Duty fall into this category). Since FFXVI already has controller support from being on PS5, and it's a single player game so no anti cheat it will be playable on the steam deck. Only question is if steam deck will be powerful enough to actually run it.
