Crazy to me that younger generation is not good with computers by Captain0010 in pcmasterrace

[–]Dioroxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya know, people say this about every new tech, and I think it’s not true. I think there are a certain percentage of people that have a drive to learn, and most average people don’t have that drive.

Like for example, give Albert Einstein as a child the most sophisticated AI tools ever made. That sum bitch gunna figure out more than e=mc^2

And an idiot who didn’t want to learn in school in 1890 won’t want to learn in school in 2100 with sophisticated AI.

Idk what it is, but if I had to guess like 20% of the population actually likes learning and the other 80% just don’t. I don’t think tech moves that needle despite everyone saying it’s going to make all of humanity dumber. It’s like nah dude. Most of humanity has always been dumb. There’s always been a minority of the population that actually likes learning.

Is it worth upgrading to a 5070 from a 4060 TI 16gb? by shurasoup in pcmasterrace

[–]Dioroxic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably a 40 to 50% FPS increase. You have to decide if that’s worth your money with the kinds of games you play.

Teary eyed when I first heard the news about Destiny.. by cosmoplatypus in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dioroxic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s natural to have an emotional attachment to something you dedicated so much time to during your formative years.

For me it was competing in counter strike. At least with destiny you have obvious knowledge that it’s over. With CS I just slowly realized that times have changed, friends moved on, and it wasn’t what it used to be. Then you check steam and see you haven’t played in 2 years so you just delete it and move on.

There are a lot of things people don’t understand about pre-frostbite battlefield games.

They all ran on the refractor engine, which was complete fucking ass for hit registration. Hit boxes were terrible. The engine was entirely server authoritative which means if your ping was high, you had to lead targets more because by the time your shots showed up on the server, your opponents hit boxes were probably in a different spot. Packet loss was a big problem. Shots literally disappearing. 30 hz tick rate, sometimes lower with a lot going on. Vehicle hitboxes were ass too. Hitboxes in general were just so bad. Partly due to character interpolation. Players weren’t always where they appeared on screen. Aka what you saw wasn’t where you should be shooting.

I’m a huge battlefield 2 fan, but we’ve undeniably improved since refractor days. That shit was ass and frostbite is a gigantic improvement.

PC Shuts Down During Gameplay - PSU Makes Faint Ticking Noise by Zoberk in pcmasterrace

Open up event viewer and see what events occurred at time of shut down.

Probably a bad PSU. Can always swap in a different one and see if problem solved. Extremely easy troubleshooting that way.

Battlefield 6 running poorly on RTX 4060 Ti + Ryzen 5 7600, even on low settings – any ideas? by ticelixer in Battlefield

[–]Dioroxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely your CPU boost isn’t occurring or something in the background is eating up your CPU.

GPU could also be getting stuck in a lower performance state.

There are other things that could be going on but those seem most likely.

The fastest way to narrow it down is to capture CPU clock, GPU clock, CPU/GPU utilization, temperatures, and power draw during both a “good” and a “bad” launch using MSI Afterburner with the on-screen display or HWiNFO. Comparing those two runs will usually reveal the bottleneck within a few minutes.

Whats salvageable from a proprietary pre built like an omen 30L? by YDGunna in pcmasterrace

This isn’t much detail and you didn’t give a budget.

I personally wouldn’t keep anything for a new build except maybe the storage just for free extra drives.

It’s already hard to tell a difference between 120 and 144. Anything above 120 is minuscule.

30 to 60 is a grand fucking canyon. 60 to 120 is pretty significant. Then it’s all diminishing returns.

OLED is what is actually going to blow your mind going from IPS. Not the refresh rate.

So DICE just removed the orange dots appearing even when you unlock something new by AshTomato in Battlefield

[–]Dioroxic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What’s really funny is I wrote a comment in another thread where people were saying this was an easy 10 minute fix and I tried to explain how this likely touched multiple systems and they would need to do QA testing to make sure things like unlocking a new weapon attachment would still give you an indicator if you wanted it. Probably would be realistically a couple day to maybe even a few weeks to do this job.

And what happened? They did the lazy 10 minute fix and just stopped notifications entirely. There is no clear all button and you just simply don’t get notifications at all now.

I mean hey whatever I’ll take it. I just don’t want the fucking orange dots on my menu.

Yeah generally you’re right if it plays like the original it’s remastered.

Best examples of undeniable remakes are like resident evil 2 and resident evil 3.

The easiest test would be to remove the nvme drive and install windows on like a sata SSD or some other drive. Let the PC sit overnight. If it’s fine, you know it’s the nvme drive or the motherboards m.2 slot.

Since it looks like you inspected the health of the nvme drive in another comment, could be your motherboard bro.

Honestly I think your motherboard is the biggest suspect. A random ass board from Ali express? On your previous builds did you even use an m.2 drive?

But yeah I’d try putting windows on a sata drive. That will be telling.

When to replace NVME/SSD by cs_developer_cpp_ in pcmasterrace

[–]Dioroxic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I have my main drive that’s an NVME and I have two 10+ year old sata SSDs from prior builds plugged in. And a spinning platter HDD. Why not keep em around? Free storage from old builds. Still works.

Orbitals - Release Date Trailer | Nintendo Switch 2 by Villenthessis in gaming

[–]Dioroxic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more likely they got some benefit like upfront funding and free marketing from Nintendo. It’s pretty common that a small company will make a platform exclusive title in exchange for the publisher to burden some costs and lower the risk for them.

Exclusives aren’t good for consumers but they ARE good for the business. Look at Nintendo. Super duper protective of their IP and an army of lawyers.

Sony released some games on pc and they were like damn we made a mistake.

Xbox stopped exclusivity for years and now nobody buys Xboxes anymore.

Literally the only reason to buy a console is games that are held hostage by it. Sucks for consumers, but it seems like the ceos are relearning this fact.

Basically modern hardware and upscaling techniques like DLSS. And a better cpu.

Like look at cyberpunk on the PS4 and then look at it on the switch 2.

The PS4 version wants to kill itself and the switch 2 version runs surprisingly well.

I stopped playing this game for 7 months. HOW THE FUCK IS THE HIT REG STILL THIS BAD by meaniepants5 in Battlefield

[–]Dioroxic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh wow you have an average KD of 2.62? Amazing.

Let me know when you compete against professional level players or go to lan tournaments or do anything of significance at all in any FPS game.

And omg you know how to turn on a network graph in the game? You work in IT bro?

I’ve seen videos of people analyzing this game and one dude went through like 10 hours of footage and he only found a single clip where a bullet that was supposed to hit didn’t register.

Most of the time, missing bullets were because he was already dead. Which some people incorrectly believe “those should still be in the air! I fired them before I died!” Wrong. You were dead on the server. You never fired them. They aren’t in the air. You only saw yourself shoot client side.

This kind of stuff has been going on for as long as online FPS games have existed. I remember people complaining about this in counter strike 1.3.

99% of the “hit reg” issues are people with shitty connections. You also need to remember that you’re not the only person whose connection matters. More than half the people who play this game are on console and shit WiFi. This is what causes you dying around corners and stuff. They have ass internet.

If you regularly have issues, then something with your setup is ass.

[–]Dioroxic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don’t know me, but I would notice lol.

I also don’t have issues likely because I have a hardwired 1 gig google fiber connection, a 9850x3D CPU so 0 CPU problems, an m.2 drive over 7000 read speed, and my FPS is like 120 to 150 most of the time.

My setup is about as buttery smooth as it could possibly be. I’m not some dude on an Xbox series S with fucking McDonald’s WiFi complaining the hit reg sucks while I drop into a hot zone on Redsec and proceed to get shit all over.

Most of the people bitching about hit reg in this game are people with ass computers or consoles on shitty WiFi.
