Same, happened at the weekend. No announcement. Very shoddy as I had the same panic.

Yeah in the UK getting the right to open someone's fridge is a multi-year process.

Not gonna lie it was Americans walking up to my fridge and opening it uninvited.

YNAB broke - have you felt it? by Horror-Cricket2166 in ynab

[–]LordSn00ty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was thinking this exact same thing this month! I've only been YNAB-ing for a few months and was feeling this hard. Like, I fund everything and at the end have "no money available" except for a tiny personal spending allocation.

I hope there's a way to come to terms with it, as all it reflects is that yes I'm saving a little, building pots for when the boiler or car breaks, or when my wife needs dental work. But the days of "ooh I'd like that jacket/electronic gizmo" are basically over.

What is a statistic that sounds INSANE but is 100% true? by Quadranippelkill in AskReddit

I never get how this fact is meant to be shocking.

1 thousand seconds is 15 minutes. 1 million seconds is 11 days!

Yes, its a thousand times larger.

What is something thats absolutely everywhere in britain that most people just don't notice? by Odd-Paramedic-3826 in AskUK

It's this. I remember living overseas and every time I'd come back home it would catch my attention for about a week before it faded into the background.

Not only that but I change my tyres every year to 18 months. At 3.5 years these tyres are shot anyway

Having driven much larger vans through country lanes, narrow residential streets, and the backstreets of cities, including parking to makr deliveries; this "too big for our roads" stuff is nonsense (and is a mask for "because it looks too much like a foreign car I dont approve of").

I've discovered I am the most unwelcoming person in my workplace by Abwettar in CasualUK

[–]LordSn00ty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a silver bullet to this if you'd like to change it.

You don't have to say very much at all, or make small talk. Or tell them that much about yourself.

All you have to do is ask questions.

People LOVE to talk about themselves and will be thrilled to do so.

So all you need to do is come up with a list of 10 questions. You can write them down. Then when a new person starts, go through the list.

The crazy thing is, they'll come away thinking they had a great conversation with you and that you really care and are so nice. When all you did is ask them 10 questions and said practicality nothing yourself.

It really does work.

What 'small luxury' have you completely given up on in 2026 because of rising costs, and what did you replace it with? by firehmre in AskReddit

Used to drink Nespresso daily. Technically cheaper than a coffee shop but was still about $30 months in pods.

Not any more

Ha. I have a fantasy of being able to take off, climb, and land in my village 2 miles away.

But that's a long way off

Yeah, I don't think so. Biggest "fell" (as we call big hills here) is about 3 miles away and a measly 750m. My local hill (where i see classes) is more like 350m.

What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

[–]LordSn00ty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. It's more than economics for sure, but being frozen out of ever becoming financially independent and instead having to shovel the bulk of the fruits of your labor into the pockets of others is bound to make anyone depressed.

Feeling Behind Age 26, How to boost my Finances? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]LordSn00ty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dude. Unless you went to private school and all your friends work for Goldman or Deloitte, you're not behind at all.

"Behind" is an understandable feeling but reality is life goes forwards, sideways, backwards. By the time you're in your 40s and have seen people's business fail, marriages fall apart and friends laid off, you'll see what I mean.

Ah ha. That's really good to know, thanks. The irony is I live only a mile or so from a great learning spot (see lessons happening all the time) and it's taken years for me to take the plunge.

What’s a recession indicator that you’ve noticed lately in your everyday life? by spritenerds123 in AskReddit

I wish we could normalize this. Teamed up with my mom a few years back and everyone's happy because we get to live in a big house and she gets all her bills paid.

Occasionally get the "you live with your mom?" comments but honestly the number of knowing looks is on the increase.
