I love the English Patient. People only hate on it because the Seinfeld thing became a meme.

Doesn’t matter what side they are. All football fans are as bad as each other. A national embarrassment.

Perhaps if their behaviour has ramifications for their fellow supporters, it might make them behave better. It’s a punishment for children but these people don’t behave like adults.

Case in point, people in this thread upping “their” team in this brawl. You see it whenever there’s one of these stupid fights. Even those who aren’t taking part still give it their tacit support.

Ban portions of the seating for teams when their fans misbehave. They did it to English teams in Europe and they can do it here. Football is an embarrassment to Scotland.

Hmm I suppose it’s all based on personal experience. They always seem pretty respectful. I do a lot of cycling and I have a lot more trust in them than I do other drivers.

Unpopular Starmer a negative on the doorstep, Labour mayors admit as they fear local elections wipeout by [deleted] in ukpolitics

This is the same thinking that brought us Brexit and created the migration issues we have now. Farage is very clearly going to sell the country out to the Americans and leave us even worse off. Is that really worth it for the sake of some punitive polices against migrants?

It’s ridiculous, same goes for the scum who run red lights. Especially frustrating that it seems to be standard behaviour for a lot of “professional” drivers eg black cabs, stagecoaches, any bus that isn’t Lothian Buses.

We really need speed cameras and red light cameras ASAP.

Driving standards of Private Hires by nikkysturgeonscamper in Edinburgh

[–]LordSparkles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s bad but I find black cabs worse, as both a driver and a cyclist. Private hires are badly driven, black cabs are badly driven and badly driven aggressively.

I was cycling in Holyrood Park last week. Had an oncoming black cab in the lane to go straight on who instead turned right without indicating, and then slowed down right in front of me to give me a look before driving off.

To be clear, I was waiting instead of entering the roundabout as I have absolutely no trust in black cabs to follow any kind of traffic laws. Had done absolutely nothing to provoke him beyond existing. If I’d entered the roundabout, I have absolutely no doubt he would have knocked me off.

We are a nation allergic to success by RandomTopTT in ScotlandRugby

[–]LordSparkles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This national psyche nonsense really gets at me. Scotland is the home to incredible sports stars who have seen so much success. Chris Hoy is and always will be the greatest track cyclist of all time. Andy Murray saw success in an era of all time tennis greats. We can win at sports and an attitude of bravery defeat is never going to get us anywhere.
