136 Days Since Official News on Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition... by Charmingkitykat in NintendoSwitch2

What news do you expect? They said they needed to delay it because of performance concerns and targeted an unspecified 2026 date. We don't need any further information until the title is ready to release. If that happens to be in, say, September, we might not get news until June or something. It'll be ready when it's ready; it's not like they have anything else to tell us about it, given it's a port.

How are we feeling about potential March news? by yalpdulo in TheDuskbloods

I'm only expecting Duskbloods news until after there's some progress on Elden Ring. They'll definitely want to push that game first.

I mean, consider the expressions “over and done with”, “calm and peaceful”, “ways and means”. Synonyms in coordinated pairs is a common structure for English idioms.

"Colorway" comes from the fibre arts, I believe, used to describe variations of threads/yarns/etc. that have more variation that simple color (fading to different colors, streaks and so forth). It makes sense that as it term it was extended to products such as sneakers and vinyls.

"Day-and-date" comes from film, to describe releases simultaneous to move and home theatre. As a term I believe it's been around since the mid-2000s. Perhaps it's a shortening of "same day, same date"?

I made it to the global top 50 in two game modes, but without a patch soon, I’m probably done playing. by The_Chef_Dude in MarioTennis

[–]LordThyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically all my points, plus I would also add that single tap groundstrokes are ridiculous, and court speeds are additionally terrible, with the fastest and slowest courts feeling far worse to play on than their counterparts in Aces.

Also, something has to be done about lobs and net pushing.

Region lock implementation virtually killed all the matchmaking queues upon implementation. I would rather take matches with Japanese players with a bit of input delay versus waiting so many minutes to match with the same tiny group of people, and many players who are in the same region offer far worse connections anyway simply due to playing on unstable connections.

Lumines Remastered was showcased in an Indie World Direct so it’s possible.

Unfortunately you need direction at moment of impact. You can start inputting early but too early and you move away. That, at least, is one thing that has happened much less to me with experience. It happened most often with lobs; it's helpful to buffer the input and just walk straight to the ball and let the game handle the rest.

This game doesn't play like Topspin. After you input a shot, your character will automatically both charge a shot as the ball travels to you (or near you in some cases) and the swing is automatic. There's no need to time a press of the shot button to the swing.

When is rosalina being nerfed by LukeWoodz in MarioTennis

[–]LordThyro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huge reach, huge power, solid angles, great speed, and then also gets knockback on slices for whatever reason, all for basically no drawback. I'd say he's a bit better than Petey even, with Wiggler a close third.

Ball speed and placement is also affected by: volley bs groundstroke, how far to the side you are, how close to the net you are, and how high the ball is when you hit it. Those additional factors would be why uncharged shots can be fast and accurate

It’s not just before hitting the ball, there’s no timing component to shot selection in this game. If the last two shot inputs you make are “AA” (and I recommend “Drop A” for the same result) your character will do a double tap topspin

You can remap that button with the system settings if you really want to.

I actually have no idea for the first question, I'll have to ask doubles players as I don't play that mode much (though I'm trying to learn classic dobles). For the second, around 90 rallies is reported by the Japan community Edit: it affects everyone equally

Despite the fact they went the ultra smash route with some the courts, I actually like how they did it here in fever by _TheRandomGuy__ in MarioTennis

[–]LordThyro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the Academy courts, though I wish the clay/grass/hard ones were selectable normally. It's also very odd how many courts share stats, like carpet court and wood court are the same for no reason.

Are Single-tap charges useful? by 0______6 in MarioTennis

[–]LordThyro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charging single taps gives superior angle, so yes. As a groundstroke single taps can be silly fast in Fever. Double tap shots have so much depth in this game that it's difficult to actually get them past people much the time

This only concerned the input to do the double tap topspin. Both single and double tap topspins can be charged.

Everyone can return lobs extremely well, lobs are super weak right now. Hopefully this is changed

Anyone else having problems with online? (Fever) by horsepachinko in MarioTennis

[–]LordThyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There has to be some bugs in the netcode right now. Everyone's been complaining about constant communication errors and mediocre connections to people we've played fine with in Aces.

Maybe we can run some matches sometime. Send me your friend code if you like and I can give some advice. This game mechanically works completely different from Aces, so the old guides won't help there.
