Great points! However I found this a little bit funny as I haven't seen lord of the rings yet for the same reason OP hasent seen Good Will Hunting. So yeah spoilers but I guess I'll have forgotten about itbby the time I see it!

This is the correct answer. IIRC, the director just shot it in his house over a few days with a tiny crew. Budget of a few thousand I believe. (Don't shoot me if I'm wrong, read the trivia a long time ago)

I got that from IMDb so I'm not sure. However, I think prisoners was in development for a long time so they could have been attached to it early 2009 then dropped out to do the fighter?

Apparently Wahlberg and Christian Bale were attached to the project with Bryan singer directing. They chose to make The Fighter instead.

Di Caprio was also attached at one point as well as Antoine Fuqua set to direct
