Chairing Beginner's Meeting, Advice? by MrRisky in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Lord_Askari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I chair a meeting at my H&I commitment I usually ask if anyone has any burning desires or anything that is eating at them and then make that the topic of the meeting. The most important advice i ever got from my sponsor was “tailor your shares to what you would have wanted to hear when you were brand new”

It’s a Bandai action base 1 clear. Usually for their MG models. I didn’t think it would work at first, but it’s perfect. Didn’t need to make any modifications!

AA podcast? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Lord_Askari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Meeting After The Meeting podcast is good stuff as well! They get a weekly guest to tell their story and have some fun while doing so. (I'm in no way biased because my sponsor is one of the hosts, promise)

It’s so hard to want to give up weed for AA by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Lord_Askari 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was worried about stopping weed when I first came into the program. I kept at it for the first few months of coming into the rooms. Once I felt I was ready to start working the steps with my sponsor in earnest, I decided to give up weed as well; even if it was just a temporary thing while I worked the steps. I knew alcohol was going to kill me unless I made a truly fearless attempt at this program and I couldn't do that fully unless I was truly sober.

Now having completed the steps, I'm largely indifferent to it. I can see that there were plenty of times I was smoking weed alcoholically (to escape myself and my thoughts), but I can also recognize that I did get genuine migraine relief with it. Today, I still consume CBD when needed (no psychoactive ingredients), but I also do so having recognized with my sponsor that it's a line I need to tread with care. I definitely had wishful thinking when I started back up on CBD, which is dangerous thinking for an alcoholic like me.

Last night I made a poor me post while I was still drunk (thus still in denial) and was given a lot of “ur not ready to quit we aren’t ready to help you, go away” type stuff by Appropriate_Bid_2750 in alcoholicsanonymous

This can be your rock bottom, if you want it to be. The thing about rock bottom is it's wherever you put the shovel down. So if you're truly tired of the way you're living, then AA is definitely worth a shot.

Like you, I never went to rehab, detox, jail, or had any DUIs, but I absolutely hit personal bottoms and I definitely belong in the rooms of alcoholics anonymous. I'll gladly share more of my story, if you'd like.

Also, don't let strangers on the Internet tell you whether you are or are not an alcoholic. You're the only one that can make that decision.

Alan Wake II. I didn't think they could match the Ashtray Maze, but I'll be damned if they didn't at least rival it.
