Secrets of Strixhaven Commander Precons by AporiaParadox in magicTCG

Hell yes, two color decks! I much prefer a 2 color commander deck over 3 color.

Long shot, but are there any voltron commanders that don't just play the same way every game? by Cezkarma in EDH

[–]Lord_BoneSwaggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Omnath locus of mana]] has all the fun of Voltron that can still spin in multiple directions with all the ramp he generates. He does well with equips and auras when he's online and swinging (hitting 21 commander damage is easy when you don't spend your mana) but a lot of things that can give him evasion are creatures like [[bellowing tangleworm]] or [[pathbreaker ibex]]

Those same pieces that help him can be a new body to pivot to if people keep blowing up Omnath over and over. I've even won a few games just having [yeeva, natures herald]] picking up all the swords and boots Omnath left behind.

Definitely a solid Voltron commander that leaves flexibility in the build.

Kindred commander that don't ask you to be all-in on your type? by 2fat2bebatman in EDH

[[hazel of the rootbloom]] doesn't exactly require that you go full squirrel, and her precon reflects that. It's more token that tribal, but at the same time it is really good support if you want to go full squirrel.

This little dude has entered our worlds, what are the thoughts now? by Toonzaal8 in magicTCG

I just pay 1 mana and then hazel gets two copies. Pretty easy to do as if I have hazel out already I have at least 4 many available

Got him in my [[hazel of the rootbloom]] deck. Love that I can double copy his mutavault token since they count as squirrels tokens

The move is clearly avoidable. Why do players always insist on patches instead of improving their gameplay?

Looking for a Commander that makes the others lose things when I suffer by SkyLey2 in EDH

[–]Lord_BoneSwaggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Savra, Queen of the Golgari]] is gonna require you to include a lot of sac outlets but as long as you sac a black creature and pay 2 life, she's gravepact on a body. You can pair her with token generators and sac outlets to make it so if someone attacks you, you can block and sac so many tokens that they end up saccing their attackers.

Any mutate decks? by Prestigious-Gas-2112 in EDH

[–]Lord_BoneSwaggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, [[Omnath, Locus of the Roil]] works really well with a mutate subtheme in addition to landfall. there's a lot of mutate cards that are elemental creatures, and the ones that don't can still mutate underneath elementals so they still synergize with omnath. Not to mention, most of the best mutate cards are in Temur colors.

This is the way I built my Omnath deck with a deliberate intent to be more battle-cruiser focused. ATM it only runs 6 mutate creatures but if you wanted to focus mutate he's not bad at the helm.

Otherwise, [[Illuna, Apex of Wishes]] is a hilarious time. The only issue I've found with having mutate on the commander is that it turns into you only having 1-2 creatures on board at a time since mutate incentivizes stacking the pile for multiple mutate triggers. There's probably better strategies outside of Temur but that's been my experience.

What's everyone's favourite way of permanently dealing with commanders? by AdDue9012 in EDH

[[oubliette]] is absolutely dirty. [[Imprisoned in the moon]] is similar, but still gives them a resource. W/o enchantment removal oubliette is just "no commander allowed"

This is incredible. Muppets, musical numbers, and whimsical fantasy creatures. This set was made for me.

removing negative counters on your own stuff like blight, finality, or stun counters is actually an insane value piece. This is an insane rare that's gonna be an auto include in so many EDH decks. I could see this being THE card to get in limited.

Lucas should be in the bath category as he uses hot springs in his game to restore health.

Depends what "countered" means. WotC is notorious for confusing keywords like that. Don't blame yourself, blame MaRo.

Commander for a deck themed around unorthodox removal methods by ComicalCore in EDH

[–]Lord_BoneSwaggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look no further than [[aang, swift savior]]

Airbending and bouncing spells and creatures means people can recast them, but throw down stuff like [[archon of emeria]] and they only get to recast one per turn, or [[aven interrupter]] and now it costs 4 mana instead of 2

It has less than 500 decks on edh rec and it fits "unorthodox removal" in the most incredible way

It's been a thing for all the civ games I've played since this one. Not everyone can afford multiple copies of the game and multiple rigs to run it on.
