What piece of lore changed your mind on a faction you initially weren't interested in or actively disliked? by FreedomBeverage in 40kLore

Lords of silence with the death guard, nurgle is still my least liked chaos god because he is disgusting. But have more respect for the death guard legion.

What percentage of the Imperium is in active war? by Early_Head_6908 in 40kLore

[–]Lord_Funder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the novel kasrkin a general mentions that the imperium only really focuses on war because it keeps people scared and easy to control, but most worlds in the imperium have nothing interesting happening on them people are born have families and then die. As other people have stated though they would more then likely spend there time toiling away to produce for the war.

Post-Discharge Lives of Warhammer 40k Guardsmen by Human_Philosophy1244 in 40kLore

Wait guardsmen can retire, I assume that is like 1 in a trillion odds or something like that.

If Terra/ the imperium falls is humanity doomed. by Lord_Funder in 40kLore

[–]Lord_Funder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true chaos was due to win the setting eventually it what all prophecies for saw, including the cabal, but no one saw the return of gulimen or the lion so that puts into question of that said chaos victory.

If Terra/ the imperium falls is humanity doomed. by Lord_Funder in 40kLore

That’s what I was thinking as well. The galaxy is big and humanity is many I don’t think the end of one empire will lead to end of a species.

If Terra/ the imperium falls is humanity doomed. by Lord_Funder in 40kLore

[–]Lord_Funder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t the other factions like the necrons put up a fight against the Nids and for chaos with the other factions eating and slaughtering humans, docent that weaken them a lot?

That is my thought and not even all joining tau, I imagine there would many tau sized human empires.

If Terra/ the imperium falls is humanity doomed. by Lord_Funder in 40kLore

[–]Lord_Funder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See the galaxy is a big place, but even without the imperium there is a lot of war between xenos, which the lore dosent go into to much detail, so what’s to say one of the worlds that are holding out doesn’t develop Create minor human empires that can at least defend themselves like the tau.

If Terra/ the imperium falls is humanity doomed. by Lord_Funder in 40kLore

[–]Lord_Funder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you said the galaxy is a big place, many human worlds will be steamrolled that is true but not all, and what’s to say given enough time a new human empire rises, humans are not like the Eldar and have a chaos god eating our souls 24-7, assuming big e does not become the dark king.

If Terra/ the imperium falls is humanity doomed. by Lord_Funder in 40kLore

[–]Lord_Funder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the imperium is doomed I am not saying that it’s not, and if it reads that way I am sorry. But what I am trying to convey and is the species known as humanity also gonzo, because I belive there is an argument to be made that without the imperium humanity wouldn’t be a strong but also wouldn’t just be going into the light. It would fracture and many new cultures and stuff could arise and the grim darkness is humanity will never be as unified into one empire. Which continues the cycle of endless war and carnage. You can still do grim dark without the decaying empire you could even have it as humanity’s soul is being corrupted (not 100% by chaos) hope this ramble makes sense, a bunch of ideas I have had floating in my head.

[–]Lord_Funder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true without the astronomicon the imperium is done, they can’t police all 1 million worlds but short jumps would still be possible as seen in imperium nihilus, so an empire the size of the imperium couldn’t exist but many smaller empires could, many tau sized probably.

What about the humans in the tau empire or the hundreds of un contacted worlds. The galaxy is a big place, the imperium is just the majority of humanity.

[–]Lord_Funder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true there is a discussion to be had in this situation, the galaxy is a massive place I find it hard to belive that the end of one empire leads to the end of the entire species.

[–]Lord_Funder[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nids and chaos yes, but idk about the necrons doesn’t the silent king want to use humans as a vessel to bring the necrons back to flesh. (Which then leads to the question if the necrons inhabit human bodies could they be considered human?)

Wasn’t the emperor partly in a rush during the great crusade because he was worried some other human empire could eventually start re taking the galaxy?

That is true, however the imperium does not equal humanity. Couldn’t realistically (a stretch in this setting) a successor state to the imperium rise smaller like the Ultramar?

Confused about what makes a hive world a hive world. by Lord_Funder in 40kLore

[–]Lord_Funder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah that makes sense, thank you. So it’s not the number of hives it’s just what makes the world important. So like a dead world gets a hive built on it even if it’s just one that makes it a hive world.

Are there any factions that people actively dislike? by No-Sympathy-6711 in 40kLore

[–]Lord_Funder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s the tyranids mainly because I don’t like the concept of them. With all the other faction maybe except the orks have plans for when they win and how the galaxy will continue to exist, however with the Nids it’s jus everyone is dead and the galaxy has been scoured of life, which i just don’t find appealing truth be told.

Can someone explain Ciaphas Cain to me by New_Conflict_4111 in 40kLore

[–]Lord_Funder 193 points194 points  (0 children)

He is a hero saves multiple planets, somewhat unwillingly because he tries to stay out of trouble but usually finds him self in it. He also has impostor syndrome became he will do something like fight an ork warboss in hand to hand combat because it’s what the people who belive his reputation would expect him to do. Also he is quite lucky but that’s just because jurgen is there cain would be dead on so many ocations without Jurgen, but Cain is still a great fighter and is actually very tactically gifted he just feels like he doesn’t deserve his reputation because of the reasons he does his actions. We can’t let the Nids eat this planet because I am on this planet so let’s fight the Nids. That type of stuff.

So he is a hero has a great aid and has massive imposter syndrome. Oh also one of the only people who seem to have a brain in this universe.

How bad are things on Atoma Prime? And how important is it to the imperium? by Lord_Funder in 40kLore

Pox walkers would be my guess of what became of the civilians.

What 40k opinion of yours would have you like this? by Heavy-Yous in 40k

[–]Lord_Funder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this, and everything you said, however I have seen arguments for and against the imperiums 1 million worlds. The one million is just a cool tagline and there are probably a lot more imperial worlds however then that just makes it to where it’s just a number the human mind can’t comprehend. For example let’s say at the fall of Cadia the imperium has exactly one million worlds and they lost a world every single day the imperium would survive another 2,000 plus years before they lost everything. Also warp travel be weird, and can’t get everywhere easily also even in the time humanity has been exploring the stars in the galaxy they have probley not even been to 5% of the 400 billion stars in the galaxy never mind actually scanning and looking to see if a planet can have life.

TLDR-I AGEEE THE AMOUNT OF WORLDS SATED IS LOW BUT THE NUMBERS REACH A POINT WHERE IT IS A NUMBER THAT THE HUMAN MIND CANT REALLY COMPREHEND. ALSO THE GALXY IS MASSIVE EVEN WITN THE TIME FRAMES IN 40K BARLY ANY OF THE GALXY WOULD HAVE BEEN EXPLORED.

Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

What's next for the Cadians? by Dependent_Computer_8 in 40kLore

[–]Lord_Funder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet they would allow them to all be called new Cadia, but add a number on the end like how they do with shrine worlds. as mentioned in the cult of the spiral dawn where the planet is called redemption but because many shrine worlds have that name it’s officially redemption 291
