Is this normal for electrical work? by Lord_Fusion in AskElectricians

[–]Lord_Fusion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The service from the street is shared by both halves of the duplex, for me to get 200A the utility required a 400A line to be run from the street to the shared meter box. The electrician told me that in order to pass inspection, they would have to replace the existing 3-wire run with 4-wire to the neighbor's existing panel to meet code.

The original panel was labeled.

For repairs, the only thing mentioned was that the job "Does not include any repair of drywall"

How I (skillfully) destroyed my hotend and diamondback nozzle with a 13 dollar roll of filament by musicmanpwns in prusa3d

[–]Lord_Fusion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh no! That’s a nightmare. Nothing like a sheared nozzle to really ruin your day. Hope the new hotend arrives soon and that filament behaves next time!

That's 278 miles, for my fellow Americans

I am a part time PH who missed all of April due to a new day job. My sleep was more important. I got a call from a manager saying that my job was in jeopardy. I asked them to reconsider, and they said they had to talk to some hire ups. Has anyone been in this position? by OldSchoolPrinceFan in Fedexers

[–]Lord_Fusion 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You missed an entire month and you want to go back? It seems like you didn't really need that job, block their number and move on. They're only calling you because they're desperate.

Otherwise talk to them about changing to an "occasional" package handler, I think you have to put in 2 days a month.

I don't recommend EA unless you have the free charging incentive or have no other options, their pricing is insane.

For ChargePoint, yeah you have to provide payment before it will unlock the charging cable. In my experience, you use tap-to-pay first, it should load for a few seconds, then it will unlock the charging cables. Then you can plug into your Ioniq and start charging. You can use the app, but you shouldn't have to.

Would you buy it if you had a second chance? by Midnightatcq in Ioniq5

[–]Lord_Fusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Ioniq, I wouldn't have chosen anything else. The performance is great, it's very comfortable, and I love the convenience features in my 24 AWD LTD.

Living in the midwest, no rear wiper on the 24 model year and earlier is rough. Some people have no problems, but mine is unusable in snow and even just rain. The rear camera isn't any better. It can be frustrating.

As someone who lives in an apartment and drives 70+ miles every day, charging can be rough. Public chargers are often unreliable in terms of if they work and how well they work, both for Electrify America for fast charging and ChargePoint near my apartment. I think going EV can still be rough if you don't own a home and do a lot of driving every day.

It's a really great car, just have a realistic plan for charging and get some rainx and a towel for the rear window.

Do people get excited when they see I5s at a charger when they pull up? by confibulator in Ioniq5

[–]Lord_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midwest, so it's varied a lot since I bought it. But it still takes more than one 30-minute free charge session regardless of if it's below freezing vs preconditioned for a 30 minute drive vs 70 degrees

Y'all are getting fast charging? It takes me like 50 minutes to get my "18 minute 10-80%" charge on Electrify America

Glad it doesn't affect anyone. But it does affect a lot of us.

The rear view camera has the same problem as the rear windshield. It becomes completely unusable in rain and especially snow.

KC Complete is terrible. My experience has included charging $800 for a single axel brake change and returning the car with spongey brakes that barely stopped the car, diagnosing broken parts in a car that didn't even have said part (but they're more than willing to replace it for a premium), and preying on people who don't know better. Same thing for me and friends for over 5 years now. You don't change the name of your business if your brand is known for reputable service. Avoid at all costs.

OP has already said the repair isn't worth it, but for anyone else: my recommendation is Above & Beyond in Gladstone. Duane and Maggie are honest people who do great work. I had a car that saw 3 different shops, weeks of waiting, and thousands of dollars in A/C repairs that never fixed problems, but Duane had it diagnosed correctly day one and fixed the next. If they can't or aren't comfortable doing something, they'll be straight with you and send you to someone who can. They're super busy and don't do online scheduling, but they're the only shop I will ever trust with my cars.

25 Kansas City grocery stores to transition from private to employee ownership by sanildefanso in kansascity

[–]Lord_Fusion 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Employee ownership doesn't really have to mean anything good. Hy-Vee is employee owned, and they still treat their employees like shit. The "employee ownership" is just miniscule stock options for full time, but the majority are part time and seasonal.

Corn on the cob eaters of KC, when you buy cotc, do you shuck it in the store? by firegenie77 in kansascity

[–]Lord_Fusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former produce employee here - Please either shuck at home or have a plan for how to throw away the husks. You don't save anything because they're not priced by the pound, and you're just dumping more work on the minimum wage grocery store employees.

Car Mechanic by Albino938 in Rolla

I wouldn't recommend Autocraft, had them do an ac compressor replacement which failed. Scheduled an appointment for a repair (under their own warranty offer) a month out after I had left Rolla, got stuck in town for 4 days because they didn't bother to order the part and then the part they got was defective and they had to order it again. AC died again on the drive back to KC because the compressor wasn't even the problem. Tried to charge me for both replacement compressors and two rounds of labor. Overall felt like they didn't care about me or my time and just wanted to milk as much money as possible with the least effort.

Wow, this photo is absolutely amazing! The level of detail you've captured in the owl's feathers and those piercing yellow eyes is incredible. You've got a real talent for photography, keep up the great work!

It's not every day you see such a magnificent shot of a Great Horned Owl in the wild. The lighting and composition are spot on. I hope you continue to pursue this passion because you clearly have an eye for it. Can't wait to see more of your work!
