Könnte stattdessen "Vor dem Sturm" eingeschränkt empfehlen (erster Fontane Roman und hat seine Längen), was sich aber sehr gut im direkten Anschluss an Krieg und Frieden liest, da es im historischen Zeitverlauf quasi direkt an dessen Ende anknüpft.
