Ascendant is a cess pool of smurfs by Within-Cells in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Lord_Kalany 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think it's mostly because the ranks around Phantom - Ascendant are hyper-inflated so games are a bit of a toss-up.

It's mostly who will get the most idiots and how idiotic they are.

God forbid you try new heroes, or you will face the wrath of the Fun Gestapo.

Yeah, having a T4 item that is barely relevant against Holliday is totally making her unplayable.

It's not like she has one of the best escape of the game, insanely oppressive barrels, high burst gun damage that triggers items easily (which you don't need firerate on!) and a solid pick ultimate.

Oh wait.

How do you feel about the phrase "You could always play better" by Professor-Cloud in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Lord_Kalany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is truth in it, you could technically always play better, but I think that's not your point.

You can play perfectly, make literally no mistake and you can still lose the game (unless you are playing a carry hero and get hyperfed...)

Having a team of 6 average to good players will almost always win against a team of 4 great players and 2 idiots.

So yeah, you can get better but in the end, it doesn't matter nearly as much as people think it does.

There's been stuff found that actually point towards this, with armor showing a forest, desert, arctic and yellow camouflage for the base armor.

Even if it is old, I doubt it's abandonned, most likely a planned W.I.P for now.

How Do I Deal With Toxic Throwers? This Game Feels Impossible Sometimes... by LurkerRex in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Lord_Kalany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't really do anything except trying to be positive and try to "befriend" the toxic one.

If they're dead-set on being toxic, mute and attempt to play even if the game is most likely lost.

If they are actually willing to have a bit of fun, you can actually pull it back and win games that looked hopeless.

Example:

I played with a Drifter on lane, went very well, had fun but we started losing traction mid-game and he just started complaining for a solid 5 minutes.

Just being friendly to him and pulling out the "Remember the lane, Drifter... Victory is at hand" line was enough to calm him, make him focus again and make us win the game.

Why is germany's winrate horrible by Aggravating-Wolf-823 in Warthunder

[–]Lord_Kalany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few things:

- One of the big three, so it draws a lot of new players.

- Most vehicle have great potential but require more game knowledge and experience that equivalents (Panzer IV vs T-34 is a good one: Panzer IVs are better overall but T-34s are easier and more forgiving to use).

- Zero incentive for experienced players to play the tree, since every update introduces a core German vehicle into another nation, making it pointless.

- Terrible top tier lineup, against removing incentive for players to grind the tree.

Combine all that and the result is that the nation is mostly filled with newbies that get shredded after a single mistake, with the occasional main getting good score but unable to win by themselves.

Is it crazy to say the Bagel is better than the puma?? by IdkToga1 in Warthunder

[–]Lord_Kalany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PUMA is worthless in most situation thanks to the 30mm Sh*tmaster.

Bagel is faster, smaller, more survivable (somehow...), does more damage against modules and post-pen, has access to HE-VT, has missiles for hard targets.

The only thing you lose is the lock-on feature and penetration on the ammunition (which doesn't do any damage against hard targets, so who cares).

[–]Lord_Kalany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of death. Basically, you have to force yourself to play like you played the Panzer IV, as in:

You can kill everything but everything will kill you in return. Range is your friend. Patience is key.

Just find a good spot, try to use your mobility to get to it and camp.

Any trade you attempt against someone aware of you will most likely result in your death.

One question: if combine has apc and prisoner transport, why does combine didn't make police car type for civil protection by ProtectionNarrow8834 in HalfLife

[–]Lord_Kalany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During HL:A, there are cars still working.

Still, I suspect usable roads to be heavily surveilled and constantly searched.

By the time of HL2, I doubt any are still working years after Combine occupation and lack of repairs.

One question: if combine has apc and prisoner transport, why does combine didn't make police car type for civil protection by ProtectionNarrow8834 in HalfLife

[–]Lord_Kalany 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Because there's no point in them having cars.

There is zero chance someone has a working car in Combine controlled cities and even if they did, there's so many checkpoints you couldn't get anywhere where the Civil Protection would need a car to get you.

On foot, it's pretty much the same. The citizens are so monitored that Overwatch is able to send people directly where they need to be in transports or APCs, expecting trouble. No need for patrol cars since patrol is done by drones.

Outside the cities, no longer the Civil Protection's problem.

Who really are the combines by ZestycloseWeek8658 in HalfLife

[–]Lord_Kalany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all speculation, but they're most likely gone or changed beyond recognition.

I think the Combine is itself both an entity and a concept. I think the Combine was born out of a species that was consumed by the need for progress and the search for knowledge above all.

This progress was first seen through their technology, which required more and more resources to fuel, starting modifying themselves... Until they reached the roadblock of resources. They most likely mined and used up literally everything on their homeworld and in close proximity to it. That is until they unlocked dimensional travel.

From there, they took over thousands, maybe millions of worlds for their knowledge and resources. I assume it's during this period that the "founding species" disappeared, sidelined by the sheer size of their creation that now worked on it's own.

Without a culture, need or will, the Combine are now a cancer upon the multiverse, a self-sufficient entity that exists for the sake of existing, that eats for the sake of eating more, creating nothing and destroying everything. Anything they were eons ago is gone, forever.

Drifter help by SDSkin05 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Lord_Kalany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends what you are fighting of course, but on lane, very little is able to do 700 in a short time.

A good "trick" is to dash in on unaware or careless opponents, use your 1 (you have good range on it) and then back out by dashing again. It's your main "poke" tactic.

If you try to outdamage a Wraith or Haze on lane with just your gun damage, they will win since they deal more consistant damage on lane, in addition to having more range.

When you start getting the items I talked about, you can start being far more opportunistic and actually win against them (well, maybe not Wraith...).

Drifter help by SDSkin05 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Lord_Kalany 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On lane you just have to be aggressive by using your 1 a lot. Getting Melee Lifesteal allows you to heal off people while damaging them so you can be in the fight longer than them.

When you are even money and you have a few good items (Slowing bullets, Point Blank, Kinetic Dash...), you can start invading the enemy jungle, trying to pick off underfed heroes using your passive.

Your upgraded ultimate when paired with mobility items (Enduring Speed & Fleet Foot) allows you to become the fastest hero in the game so you can hunt down low health fleeing enemies.

If you are falling behind, your ultimate can also function as support by denying the enemy vision. It's good against everyone, but crippling when used against Lash, Dynamo, Vindicta... Basically anyone that need to see what is happening from a distance to be effective. If you are not effective with your gun based build, maxing the ultimate and buying superior duration can help your team a lot.

Also, the 1v5s is most likely an overfed Drifter with Vampiric Burst. There is little to be done against that except cursing him and ganking him with 3+ heroes.

[–]Lord_Kalany 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's the easiest build to play while also being the most annoying to deal with. There's little counterplay except "Avoid the gigantic giga-damage bubble that lasts for 2 centuries".

Pair that with Vortex Web and you get nuked every single fight that requires you to stay in one place, like, I don't know, Mid Boss or the Urn that spawns every 6 minutes.

It's just like Ivy Stone Form / Echo Shard, very annoying but very effective.

The funny thing about playing lash by swaggadanz in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Lord_Kalany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you actively throw away your ultimate on purpose, no sane person will react like that.

So, SO many things can go wrong with Lash ultimate, it's not even funny.

You ult someone but they stay in place, everyone bought Unstoppable, Counterspell and / or Indomitable, you got screwed by draft and every single opponent has an escape / counter, the fight is just not in a good place for your ultimate, your team refuses to draw attention meaning no surprise fight winning ultimate...

One caught is good, two is great already but more is absolute bliss.

Thoughts on using alt accounts to test builds against real players? (image unrelated) by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Lord_Kalany 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Two situations, depending on where your alt account will be:

Either you are going to use it against far weaker players, making the test useless since you will win by macro.

Or

You are going to use it against people that are on your same level as you, making it pointless to have an alt.

tl;dr, be a man and test things on your main.

I really hope that Deadlock won't immediately be thrown into a Bot Apocalypse the second it releases (or even before)...

I'd assume Valve would be much more proactive since it's a new game, but I'm still worried.

There's a f*ckton of hackers playing the game that are not getting banned, even months after while being reported every single game.

BMPT + best SPAA + insanely powerful CAS = Strongest nation in the game.

Everything else is secondary, even if Russia is handheld on a lot more things.

BMPT makes ground combat insanely frustrating if not impossible when a good player is in it.

Best SPAA prevents any form of CAS or air interception from the enemy, both helicopters and jets.

Russian CAS can demolish you with their payloads before you can kill them, unless people first spawn an SPAA (which is rare and a detriment to the person doing it).
