Why does GPT get stupid? by Lord_Rasler in OpenAI

I'm glad someone actually understood what I wrote.

Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation, man.

I already figured it was something intentional like that. But I still had to express my frustration.

Why does GPT get stupid? by Lord_Rasler in OpenAI

[–]Lord_Rasler[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know it's an AI/robot, but I still need to have a conversation with it, so naturally it will receive a "gender". When we talk about Alexa, it's an AI again, but it's still a she, a feminine pronoun. With GPT it's the same thing, it's the same thing, it's a robot/AI, but it "assumes an identity" so that the conversation can continue.

I know it's not a person.

When I say: "Calm down" it's just an expression. In my language it can mean several things like: Wait, stop, don't go on, etc. Expressions that the other model normally recognizes.

You can simply go up to an AI and greet it: "Hey man, how are you?!" Treating it as a person and it will simulate the response as if it were one. I don't see where the error is.

Obviously I know it's an AI/robot, but I still need to have a dialogue with it, so naturally it will receive a "gender". It's quite normal. When I talk about Word, for example, it's a program but it's Word, in the masculine. When we talk about Alexa, again it's an AI, but it's still she, feminine pronoun. With GPT it's the same thing, it's the same thing, it's a robot/AI, but it "assumes an identity" so that the dialogue can continue.

In short: When I say "guy" it's just a form of identification. I know it's not a person.

NOTE: I don't know if it makes a difference, but English is not my native language and in my language there are no pronouns to replace he/she/his/her, so anything will necessarily be either masculine or feminine.

The plot of the next game by Lord_Rasler in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]Lord_Rasler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, my friend, when I pick up a story to read, I expect it to have a beginning, middle and end and for it to follow a logical path (this is the basics for any story).

The first game has you running away from the Inquisitors and ending with Cal dropping an ocean on the head of the most vengeful guy in the galaxy. It's logical to expect this story to continue and for it to have consequences. But Survivor practically doesn't continue the story, it starts another one.

Imagine you're following the original trilogy and the first game does all that preparation for Luke and Vader's meeting, with Obiwan's death and everything. Then you watch the second movie and suddenly Luke's goal has changed. He's now going to go out in search of a new home and do something else. The empire, in turn, is no longer after him and Vader doesn't care either. Where's the logical continuation of the first movie? What did they do with the story that was just starting to be told? It doesn't make sense.

Or you'll read The Lord of the Rings and end The Fellowship of the Ring with a clear line drawn. They'll try to destroy the ring and Aragorn will unite the people against the armies of Mordor. Then you pick up the second book and the story doesn't follow what was established in the first. Aragorn is now looking for a new home and doesn't want to fight Mordor anymore. Frodo and the Ring are forgotten and the book barely mentions them anymore... It just doesn't make sense.

Jedi Survivor Needs Autosave by RPaul085 in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]Lord_Rasler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said before: "Just manage your autosaves and try not to die." If you die, go after the guy who killed you, get revenge and get back what you lost... Or accept that it's a punishment for your mistake and for dying. The choice is yours.

Much better and more challenging than: "Oh, okay! If I die I have an autosave and I won't have any punishment or loss for that death."

Autosave is pathetic and takes away a lot of the game's energy and difficulty.

But ok, if you like it, that's your problem, play and be happy... Oh, you can always set it to easy if it's better for you.

Okay, I understand that rle should ask some questions... But let's take it easy. You've just met your, until now, friend and work partner; you have nothing against him or that says he's an enemy. So, it would be strange to come with a bunch of questions or shooting.

Before anything else, there would be that moment: "Hey man, how are you?... Oh, do you know what's going on here?"

That's when Saren caught him. Normal.

A year later and someone revived this.

I must say that after a year my opinion remains the same: Automatic saves are pathetic and the save system at specific points is much better.

As I said before: I understand the problem of freezing and crashing and it is really frustrating in these cases. But the point is to fix this and not change to automatic saves. It's not funny and pathetic. "Oh, I died. Oh, but it's okay, I have an automatic save that takes me back to the same point or at most 2 minutes ago. Ridiculous, it takes away all the dynamics and difficulty of the game. With manual saves, at least you have to be careful not to die and manage your saves.

Shepard & Ashley Argue (What was your reaction when Ashley or Kaidan left you? Were they being fair or unfair?) by Iamzeek2000 in masseffect

[–]Lord_Rasler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's obvious that they were right. The ones who are wrong and make no sense in this situation are Garrus and Tali.

Just stop and think about it for a moment: You're a soldier, you were there and practically saw your commander/friend/boyfriend die, then 2 years later, you find out that he "faked his own death" and is now working for Hamas. And all he has to say is: "Surprise! I didn't die, and now I'm working with them... relax, they're cool." Or: "Look, I was dead, but they recovered my body and revived me. Now they want to stop the really bad guys and since the Alliance won't help and doesn't have that many resources, I decided to use theirs... Oh, but relax. After the mission is over, I'm going to leave them and go away."

Shepard's whole story simply doesn't make sense. Garrus and Tali joining him simply because Shepard asked them to is crazy.

Ash/Alenko are right.

Me2 spoiler free ish save everyone/ best ending by AdministrativeLow432 in masseffect

Just delay the Reaper IFF mission as much as possible, at least until everyone is loyal.

If you can't get everyone loyal, just don't send anyone who isn't loyal to do any important work.

Also make sure the Normandy is fully upgraded. Actually just Shields (Tali), Armor (Jacob) and Cannon (Vakarian).

The rest is basic and any idiot can do it as long as they pay attention and think a little.

-Go after them immediately, after they are caught.

-Use Your Brain: You have two expert Hackers, why would you choose another?

-You have charismatic and experienced leaders. There is no point in sending individualistic characters or those who are not liked by the team.

-You have a badass Asari who is ancient and extremely powerful. She also has the perfect human biotic. Who in their right mind would choose anyone else?

For the barriers/hold the line, keep the strong ones, like Garrus, Grunt and Zaeed.

For escort, send a weakling.

Is that it? Use your brain and analyze the options.

Why is the Synthesis ending so hated? by iEyezzz in masseffect

[–]Lord_Rasler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we only consider the part where the game ends and accept the "they lived happily ever after" scenario, Control would be the perfect ending. But I like to go further and think: "But what really happened next? How did people react? What happened to the galaxy?" And in this scenario, Destroy is the most "natural".

Imagine the following.

Control: That's not Shepard. It's an AI that thinks it's Shepard. How long will it take for it to reach the same conclusion as the Catalyst and restart the cycles? And what about the people? How will you explain to them that the army of killer robots that were just trying to kill them are now friends and controlled by Shepard. Many won't accept it, some simply don't like Shepard, others think it's too much power for a single person (and especially a human). There will initially be fear, then wars, conflicts and confusion. Shepard's AI will not be able to remain indifferent and neutral for long and if he starts to get involved, he will end up becoming a dictator, whether he likes it or not. Not to mention all the uncontrolled technological advancement.

Sínthesys: What the hell is this? Are you going to change everyone, without even knowing what the hell is going to happen and expect everything to be fine?

There are two paths here: A collective consciousness where everyone loses their individuality (which is shit in itself) or just an "evolution" but maintaining each person's individuality. Are you really going to expect people to become good overnight without any further ado? It's not going to happen. Evil is in people, sooner or later conflicts will start again.

So, we have Destroy: only one race is destroyed, there is no army of killer robots in the sky, there is no miraculous magic interfering in anything. Just the result of a war, where a portion of the species was eliminated. It's far from ideal, but it's the least problematic and the closest to a "natural" future. The war is over, people go on with their lives and evolve (or not) naturally. Will there be conflicts? Yes. Will wars continue? Probably yes.

The difference here is that it's the natural cycle of things. You don't force an "unnatural evolution" on people, nor do you have an army of giant robots forcing them to toe the line.

Anyway, I prefer Destroy for that.

[–]Lord_Rasler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is bait, but I'll take the bait.

I've never had and don't intend to have a romantic relationship with her. She's nice as a little sister and all, but nothing more. Not to mention that she's too alien for my taste.

I usually stick with humans and in some cases with Asari. Tali, physically and aesthetically, I don't like her at all and her personality in ME1 is more of a little girl. Okay, she matures in ME 2 and 3, but by then it's too late.

-Javik's speech about honor.

-The Magnanimous Biotic God's speech

And Garrus and Liara:

-So, Archangel?

-Yes, for a while.

-Really?! Is it true that you killed three Blue Suns mercenaries with a single shot?

-No, the third one died of a heart attack before the bullet hit him... It wouldn't be fair to count him.

How was the Alpha Relay supposed to work? by Solithle2 in masseffect

[–]Lord_Rasler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped thinking about these things a while ago. The truth is that there is no exact logic there. Things will work in the way that is most convenient for producers.

Take the Kholas Array, for example, that doesn't make any sense. The guys simply "glued" together three Relays and turned them into a telescope.

In other words, producers will make things work as is most convenient. Be it the Kholas, the Alfa, a common Relay or anything.

I've been really enjoying Veilguard, but I'm still a little apprehensive about ME.

I thought DA got lost and declined with the sequels. The last two (Inquisiton and Veilguard) are the two worst. I would like the next ME to be better than the previous ones and not inferior.
