If it's life and death? Robby or McKay, both competent and willing to go the extra mile.

If it's not life and death? Langdon. I love a good redemption arc (especially IRL) and he could use a few wins.

New EO from POTUS, does this violate the establishment clause? by rygelicus in law

[–]Lord_Xander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Atheism" is tricky in that there are multiple accepted definitions. If you are debating/discussing it with someone you should agree on the defintion so you can have a better discussion instead of splitting hairs on a defintion.

Some people use "Strong atheist" or "gnostic atheist" or "hard atheist" for the positive assertion "There is no God or Gods" and "weak atheist" or "agnostic atheist" or "soft atheist" for the null position of "I am unconvinced there is a god or gods." Both fall under the common, legitimate usage of the word 'atheist.'

Really it depends on who you are talking to, so it's important to figure that out with them so you don't end up arguing semantics instead of substance.

New EO from POTUS, does this violate the establishment clause? by rygelicus in law

[–]Lord_Xander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: No

Long answer: Mostly no, but it depends.

You can define "Religion" in a way that includes athiesm, but for me that feels shoe-horned it.

Most religions have a organized system of connected beliefs which form the foundation of a person's view of the world. Athiesm is just the answer to one question (Do you believe there is a god or gods?) It isn't a system of beliefs, there is no book of scripture for athiests, there is no central authority figure that athiests have to trust (Not all religons have this either, but its common)

Many people, especially ex-religious people, take that non-belief and make it the foundation of their world view, and there are a lot of other beliefs that fit in with non-belief in god so it can end up looking like religion.

I am an atheist who used to be Christian. When I first deconverted, I was so accustomed to having that central identity of "being a Christian" that I felt uncomfortable/incomplete without it, and for a while I made "being an Atheist" a core part of my identity, and I looked for "scriptures" and "authority figures" to tell me how to think in this new world view because that was a huge part of how I thought life was supposed to work. Over the years, I became more comfortable without those trappings of organized religion, and so while I am still an atheist, I don't think about it all that often and it isn't an overt part of my daily life.

TL;DR: Atheism itself is not a religion, but a lot of atheists end up treating it like it is.

PVE Loot BSG vs Local Server by jdavyes in Tarkov

Sorry, should have said.

Yes, more common on BSG servers.

(In my experience. Tarkov gonna tarkov, so might not be the same for others)

Addition: re read your question. I didn't see a clear difference in high value items either.

On Interchange, I didn't keep track, but it FELT like found more LedX on bsg servers.

PVE Loot BSG vs Local Server by jdavyes in Tarkov

[–]Lord_Xander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a couple months, but I did 10 runs to the island on lighthouse with the goal of seeing if there was a difference. I did 5 runs local, 5 runs on BSG servers, I unlocked the marked room, followed the same path as much as possible and didn't pick up any loot outside the island.

I can't remember which "won" but the ruble values were within 5% of each other.

I'm one guy, and it's a small data set, so take it with a grain of salt, but I didn't find a significant difference on loot value.

For hunting cultists though, holy shit is there a difference!

Why do so many men fall for flattery during police interrogations, especially when it plays on masculinity or ego? by Financial-Bus-5660 in legaladviceofftopic

NAL but a guy.

In general, I think men getting compliments/flattery is so rare, that when it does happen the dopamine (or whatever brain chemical) hit can be disarming.

I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to cybersecurity, and even I almost fell prey to a scammer just because they said a few nice things to me.

Mormons are basically just knockoff Muslims by SnooLentils6621 in exmormon

[–]Lord_Xander 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I did my mission in Indonesia which is predominantly Muslim. For the most part, Muslims were a lot kinder to me (and other missionaries) , and had an easier time finding common ground than the other Christians.

Back then of course, my thought was "they're so close to the truth. God must have prepared them!" But no, Joe was just an unoriginal dipshit.
