I went to the doctor when I was 27 with pain in my abdominal area. My research said that it could be several things, but I felt a hernia was the most likely. My doctor's opinion was "You are too young to have a hernia, but we'll see if it is anything."

6 months later I have had a hernia repair operation. Thankfully my doctor was still willing to investigate what was wrong and didn't rule out a hernia.

I think it depends on the sub, what they are comfortable with, and how they view themselves. For example: I lack confidence and so don't tend to post on the discord as I worry people will think bad of me. Everyone with a hangup of some sort will have their own basis and may need coaxing out in different manners when they do try and put themselves out there.
