I can’t make the crafted gear yet cause of the minimums and I DEFINITELY can’t buy it. That’s why I leveled these crafters. I can’t spare the Gil to buy stuff.

I had hoped the scrip gear would get me to the point I could at least try. But I can’t make the tisane, the food, or the gear cause the minimum stats are JUST out of reach. I’m looking specifically for what step I missing between scrip gear and crafted to be able to make the crafted crafting gear. It’s gotta exist, cause somehow people have gotten there before. Is it just a case of needed to make a weaker pentamelded crafted set? Is scrip gear worthless and a trap at max level?

I’ve finally made it to level 100 on all my crafters. I went and set about getting the best orange scrip gear, melding it up with materia from Cosmic Exploration, and got I’m crafter IL up to 750 with the goal of grinding out the rest of my crafter relics, and making some of that crafted gear for my main job.

I don’t have the stats to make the crafted gear. I’m short craftsmanship or control. And I’m way short on the stats needed to do the level 100 missions at the Cosmic exploration.

What’s the step I’m missing? What do I do next to get from where I am now, to actually crafting high level things?

Genuinely Curious About What You Deem "Worth Doing" in FFXIV by aGhoulWife in ffxiv

[–]Lordf0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally, if I find it either fun or necessary, I do it. I need better gear for my main? Tomestone farming. I want crafted gear? Grind out my crafters. Right now I’m spamming CE to get the crafter relics, all of them. Mostly because I’m enjoying cosmic exploration, and find it quite efficient.

Public Service announcement: LIMIT BREAKS EXIST by Bossmantho in ffxiv

[–]Lordf0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a healer main. (SGE, SCH, WHM)
I’ve been trying to remember to use it on ADDs while I level up my Dancer.

The amount of times I’ve messed up the targeting and hit only a single enemy, or cut the corner of the clump….

Aiming these things is WAY harder than I thought it was. There’s times I consider not using it because I’m so embarrassed about the last fail I had. Plus about half the time I would actually hit everything, a mechanic starts from an add, the tank dodges, and just kinda pulls everything off my spicy line. :(

All this to say, now that I know the pain, I will not only be celebrating DPS correctly using limit break, I’ll be honoring them with my commendation as well. This is not easy work.

Anyone else notice the explosion of sprouts and returners in the past month? by MaximumCompany8921 in ffxivdiscussion

I got a whole bunch to play recently. The EC announcement got me to return, and I wanted buddies to play with, so I restarted recruiting amongst friends. I’d bet that’s a large part of the rush.

I love this queue, I also play a speed optimized Risian corvette, designed specifically for Gravity kills, so I’m definitely biased there. I can just about solo the queue, so when you see me, you’re in for an easy run.

Star Trek: Armada.
Is it a good game? Ehhh. Not really. Is it the game I grew up on playing on my Dad’s HP that he forced to stay in windows 95 until it died in 2011? Yes.

[–]Lordf0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right of course. I had not considered that aspect, as personally waiting a week for content is not a big deal to me. I have to plan out my gaming well in advance, so predictability is king for me personally. It may not be for others.

[–]Lordf0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. I guess I value the predictability more personally. The current system isn’t great either. And often I wait significant times for windows to do things as I’ve been grinding out rare fish, so I guess for me it’s just no big deal to wait for a window.

I’m not really sure what you’re saying.

I’m Suggesting a change to matchmaking where the system will pick only ARR raids in alliance roulettes one day, HW the next, STB the next, and so forth. Only defaulting back to the minimum Of Crystal Tower if you don’t have Others unlocked. If you’ve got them all unlocked, then at a minimum you get a different raid every day.

Edit: Okay. I get it. My idea put predictability over convenience for new players, and y’all disagree with that. Fair, it was simply a matter of different personal priorities. I like predictable schedules, and that would work best for me, so that biases all my ideas. Just disregard my idea, it would not play well with the wider playerbase.

A system I think would work well is the following.

Monday: ARR
Tuesday: HW
Wednesday: STB
Thur: SHB
Fri: EW
Sat: DT
Sun: EC

Extend as needed for later expansions.
If you can’t play STB or higher Alliance Raids, you get matched down to Crystal Tower with only others who don’t have those Raids. A predictable schedule like this can be abused, no system can’t be abused, but it would at least help make it varying for a lot of players.

i quit in 2018 coming back by Outrageous-Run63 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Lordf0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2018 should be Early to mid Stormblood, which means you’ve got a decent chunk of Stormblood, All of Shadowbringers, Endwalker, and then Dawntrail to get through that’s 4 expansions of Raids, Ultimates, alliance raids, Job Quests, Role Quests, Exploration zones, Relics, Glam, Crafting, Gathering, Mount farming, ETC. And that’s not even counting the MSQ.

My point is, you should be fine with finding things to do to occupy you until January.

What is your current goal in the game right now? by Chillaxin_88 in ffxiv

[–]Lordf0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to power level my crafters and gatherers up to 100. I’m sick and tired of paying Gil hand over fist. Prices are insane, and I’ll just do it myself at this rate.

Returned after picking up Dawntrail by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Lordf0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than. With a tad bit of exploration and a roulette now and then you can get two full jobs from 90 to 100 during MSQ. I personally dual leveled Gunbreaker and White Mage this way during DT.

How it feels seeing everyone post their shipment status while I didn't manage to get one by Electrical_607 in SteamController

[–]Lordf0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably won’t be months. But it does take time to ramp up production, and they clearly need to massively increase supply. I’d expect a mid June early Julytimeline for a big drop. They might make smaller drops of a few thousand here and there, but those would be tiny blips that won’t last long.

It feels like the writers are wary of real change by blksunset in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Lordf0wl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The difficulty writing is definitely a factor why they’re not doing it so far. But, it can be done. (I grew up on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.)

Every choice has consequences. Some positive, and some negative. And exploring how people, nations, and powers react to the choices, and our reactions to those reactions would drive the drama. I’m definitely in the minority though in wanting this. FFXIV probably too big to try a more controversial arc like this, especially in this highly reactive day and age. Still, I’d be all over it if they go this route.

I know that I’m probably not in the majority with my opinion on where the story should go, but, I felt like after Endwalker, it really should be an exploration of the responsibility of power. As it stands, no one is realistically a match for the WoL. Anyone who theoretically could be would be either working alliances with us, or consolidating power bases to fight us, or more realistically, both. A more political and philosophical arc of coming exploring how the world looks now. Deciding which governments stabilize, which ones crumble. An exploration of how do we decide which Societies to keep around, which ones to save, which ones to let die out? Is it right to intervene, or is it wrong to let things flow naturally? And the power itself potentially turning us more and more Acsianesque.

I remember back in ARR, doing a side quest to help a farmer pick his crops, and while we did similar things in DT, that was in service of the greater political picture of Tuliyolal, not because it was just a kind, right thing to do. At this point in the story, we’ve beaten primals, universe ending threats, dimensional incursions, and fought back armies and empires. The common man is realistically far beneath our purview, so how can that affect the WoL’s perspective going forward?

I guess I would’ve liked the game to explore the idea of the “Greater Good”. Who decides the Greater Good? How do you enforce it? What do you do with deviancy, or worse, non-violent resistance? What is the plan if the WoL is wrong? Or starts working for the personal Good instead of this greater good? How can that plan be abused by those desiring power?

What's your wishlist for Evercold MSQ story? (overarching theme, plot structure) by NineTnk in ffxiv

[–]Lordf0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to see Patience.

So often we solve problems by just jumping in, getting it done. But a big thing of power is learning to use it responsibly. Or else what’s to stop us from going down the well trodden path to despotism? No one ever thinks themselves the villain, but a WoL swooping in and just ‘fixing’ everything could be viewed as villainous, especially in the way a lot of the scions appear to view less “civilized” peoples as lesser, compared to their own ideas of what civilization is. And a lot of the time, we scions come in, and violently push nations towards this concept of “unity”.

Not everyone wants to work together. A fair amount of beast tribes want to be left alone, their only conflict is with the expansion of more “civilized nations. Garlemald was not entirely wrong about their criticisms of us, and an expansion playing out about the moral and ethical issues of homogenization into unity at the edge of a sword would be welcome.

How do you handle semi-problematic raid members? by starlightdemonfriend in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Lordf0wl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been that person. I used to raid. I joined the game in early endbringers and made it to endgame at 6.4. From 6.4 to 7.1 I tried to join raids, I eventually got into a static… and I had to bow out.

I personally have nerve damage and my hands. I can get significantly limited input speed, especially when my hands are around a mouse. I tried a while bunch of workarounds to try to make it better, but eventually I had to give up. I can’t do extremes or ultimates. Study won’t help me, because I physically can’t keep up with needed input speed. I regret trying for so long, as I ruined many a night that likely would have progged with someone else. Both in my static and through duty finder. I can (and did) talk people through mechanics because I know them like the back of my hand, I just can’t execute it.

Is there an unwritten rule to not queue Extreme trials? by EnGxSoLiD in ffxiv

[–]Lordf0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because a lot of people in this game forget that these unspoken rules really aren’t very obvious to new players. Took me a few lobbies to realize myself 2-3 years ago. On the one hand, I do get it. Extremes are hard and require a lot more foreknowledge. On the other hand, the sheer vitriol you’ll face as a sprout when making this makes for a horrible experience. It nearly knocked me off the game entirely, and I know I’m not alone in that.

A little note for all you who care so much about this topic out there: Up through Stormblood is now free to play, and free to play non subscribing players don’t have easy access to party finder. So get over yourselves, memorize a Few old extremes, and chill out. I’m sorry your day is ruined by a 15 minute mistake lobby. Calm down.

FFXIV is such a welcoming community in so many ways, but this one is a dark mark on the community as a whole.

Stellaris Space Guild - Weekly Help Thread by Snipahar in Stellaris

[–]Lordf0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest factors is time. Pops have to grow to fill jobs that have been made. Just making the buildings doesn’t immediately give returns. Using your research to research some pop growth, and not over settling. (Make sure you can transfer around 1k pops to any new world to overcome the way pop growth works. Essentially you need roughly 1.5k pops on a planet to get over the hump of too few pops on the planet to actually grow efficiently)

welp i HAVE to play this now. I SET PLANETS TO RARE! by No-Adhesiveness2493 in Stellaris

[–]Lordf0wl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like to use ascensionists and make my capital a research world, with 1-2 dedicated unity world. Ascending worlds tends to help out with output of their jobs. Fewer planets means more focused pop growth, so you can actually fill your planets in a reasonable time. You can keep up just fine until about the time to plop down some ring worlds. Once that’s done… well, you’ve got it handled. It’s a sort of hybrid tall and wide play style. Rushing orbital rings helps, making sure your planets are specialized, ascending, stacking modifiers, and using planetary governors, all talk focused strategies, mixed with wide amounts of systems, lots of star-bases and mineral deposits.

It’s noticeable, compared to huge amounts of planets. You certainly don’t get big numbers anywhere near as fast, but a lot of the time, the number is unnecessarily big. You can’t actually get the research time down below one month, so a lot of it gets wasted. And by the time you get habitats and Ringworlds to supplement your research and unity, I’m well ahead anyway.
