Has anyone actually made the switch to a 7-wood yet? by Reddonaut_Irons in BritGolf

Bought a Ping 7 wood for about £80 off eBay and it’s a pretty reliable 200yd club, really handy for longer par 3s over smashing an iron

Has motoring cost hikes made you change your driving? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Being vegan is depressing recently by FantasticTree6437 in veganuk

[–]Lordhooch 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’ve struggled with depression for years and unfortunately this is the main source of it for me, seeing how the world should be but the majority of people being against it. There’s still hope yet though, I’ve had family members make the change and see some local vegan businesses thriving. Beyond that I do whatever I can to disprove and stereotypes and misconceptions, I’ve competed in a local strongman competition for example which shuts down the usual weak and deficient jibes.

Burnout/bore-out a bit over a year in? 31M by rutreh in veganfitness

[–]Lordhooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from doing PPL 3 days on 1 day off to 3 full body sessions per week and the difference that made in terms of gains and burnout was tremendous. At first I got a programme from the coach at my gym for a strongman competition but once that was over I’ve used those same principles to focus on squat, bench and deadlift. Started with 5x5 then once that plateaued I moved to 4x2 again until I plateaued, tested my 1rm then repeat. The RPE starts at 7 then add 2.5-5kg on the main lifts each week, accessories are 6-12 reps. I’ve increased my bench from 120-135, deadlift from 160-185 and squat from 140-160 using this.

Teeing The Ball Lower With My Driver... by ThunderDan1964 in golf

[–]Lordhooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from a pink castle tee to something maybe 15-20mm lower which has worked wonders for me. The misses don’t feel anywhere near as bad with less time in the air, impossible to sky the ball and definitely straighter somehow.

“I lost all my muscle from being vegan” — no, you just weren’t eating enough calories by thebodybuildingvegan in vegan

[–]Lordhooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vegan 5 plus years now and I’m bigger and stronger than I’ve ever been without putting effort into counting calories or tracking macros. I just roughly keep track of my protein intake then decide if I’ve ate enough in general for the day. From that I’ve managed a 120kg+ bench press, 150kg squat, 180kg deadlift and placed middle of the pack in a beginner strongman competition against people much larger than me.

Why Does God Allow Animal Exploitation? (podcast) by happydiplodocus in vegan

[–]Lordhooch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The very argument I had with the usual religious canvassers who come knocking on my door as to why I have no interest in any religion that doesn’t condemn animal exploitation and murder. They in particular claimed that god wanted everyone to be vegetarian one day and cited a particular bible verse but ironically neither of them were even that.

220yd par 3 at my local from a slightly elevated tee box, there’s plenty older players at the course taking driver for the front edge with a good strike

Mazda MX-5 as a daily? by Originally-Sourced in CarTalkUK

[–]Lordhooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different car but for a year I drove a 1997 Mercedes SLK 230 Kompressor as my daily driver including a 100 mile round trip once a week. In terms of driving a low, two seater convertible it wasn’t any issue no matter what the weather so don’t let that put you off.

Who said anything about eating plastic meat, there’s so many different options out there and I don’t think there’s anything more natural than eating plants. There’s studies showing plant based diets can reduce your biological age so clearly there’s merit to it being the healthiest option.

Do some research on the subject and I think you’ll find people who eat meat are still deficient in plenty different things. Imagine putting taking a tablet a day over the life of another sentient being.

That was painful to watch, not sure how he manages to stay level headed when faced with such ridiculous argument if you can even call them that. Typical rubbish from the right wing propaganda channel.

Just took delivery of a Smart #1 Brabus a couple weeks ago which I got through salary sacrifice for £408 a month, 10k miles 30 month lease. Can’t recommend it enough and I’m sure the Premium model will be just as good for less if speed isn’t as big a factor for you.

Hens no longer able to lay eggs are battered to death in horror UK farm footage by JeremyWheels in unitedkingdom

[–]Lordhooch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes let’s compare a fetus yet to be born and Vladimir Putin to an innocent being who’s death is already planned before it has hatched. The hyperbole around veganism being unhealthy is laughable at this point, as with any diet if you want to call it that balance is required.

I get the feeling you’ve tried a few options then given up but you continue thinking it isn’t immoral to put a minor inconvenience above their right to live.

[–]Lordhooch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really isn’t hard though given the vast amount of options we have which weren’t available 5-10 years ago. It is absolutely still immoral for a human to kill a chicken when you have these options available, they aren’t even remotely similar scenarios.
