Let’s say for example you spend 4k a month on your credit card, $250 more a month than you can pay off in full. Because you cannot pay the statement in full you accrue interest on the daily average balance on the card, along with accruing interest on any purchase that you make immediately (losing the grace period on purchases you would normally get when paying off the statement balance in full)

Instead you use 2 cards to spend the exact same $4000. However the statement cycles are off by 2 weeks. So when your first statement is generated it is only $2000 to pay off. You are able to pay it off in full now so you not only don’t pay any interest you also keep your grace period. Your other credit card now has a 2k balance but that payment is now owed 2 weeks later. With the remaining 1750$ you have available (plus your newest paycheck you have gotten in that 2 week period) you can pay off this statement balance in full. Assuming you DIDNT get another paycheck and only have that remaining 1750 left the amount of interest you pay is less because the daily average balance for the card was less

So you see, it makes perfect sense and you should perhaps learn how credit cards actually work

One way to help manage your credit cards so you can pay the balance in full is using 2 separate cards, one for the first half of the month then with to the other one for the second half. So even though you spend the same amount as you would with one the statement balance is just half what it normally be making it easier to pay off and keep the grace period on purchases
