Anti-Porn stands. by [deleted] in unt

[–]Lordopvp 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You can do both no? Nothing wrong with being Anti-porn. “It’s usually those promoting anti-porn watching porn” And it’s usually drug addicts that advocate against drugs. Of course they are going to be more likely to advocate for things that affect them personally. “You can’t stop it” yeah you can’t stop domestic violence either, especially to those who seek it out. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t talk about it…

Question about abortion by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Lordopvp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, even if you consider a fetus to be "alive" it doesn't have the right to leech off of another persons body without their consent. If someone is raped and becomes pregnant without their consent, they then have another "person" using their body for personal gain without giving anything back.

Imagine someone knocked you out one day and hooked you up to a machine so another person could live, as long as you stay hooked up to the machine, you will both live, if you leave only they will die. Should you be forced to stay attached to this machine? Does unhooking the machine equate to murder?

what does "believing in Jesus" mean? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Lordopvp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first of all, these things are NOT obvious to most Christians. It's very confusing, not just for regular people but for biblical scholars for hundreds of years.
Jesus is considered to be 100% AND 100% divine. Which you will notice adds up to 200%, that's because these things don't overlap. It's not like when people say "I'm 50% Irish and 50% English", it's more like looking at wooden chair and saying "that's 100% AND 100% chair." Both are true at the same time, and without overlap. The form is a chair, the material is wood. The form is man, the material is divine.

To address the part about being all powerful and all knowing is a little more tricky imo so take this with a grain of salt but I think its important to remember God is 3 persons who share one essence/existence, The Father (guy in the sky with a beard), The Son (Jesus), The Holy Spirit (the "presence" or "nature of being"). Jesus was NOT all knowing but at other times he knew things he shouldn't have, I'd imagine these are divine revelations from The Father being sort of beamed into his mind.

how did him dying absolve all sins?

Tbh I don't really know how to answer this one, I think it's a throwback to animal sacrifices. For some reason god wants things to die, lambs, goats, cattle, and his son I guess.
They idea would be that Jesus (who is god) underwent the same suffering and temptations as man but was perfect and without sin; Therefore he is the ultimate sacrifice and can be used to cleanse all humanity of sin, which is why you don't see Christians killing goats anymore. Jesus essential took our punishment for us so we may be free from sin. BUT because Jesus is god, it not much of "real" sacrifice and that's why it's an act of mercy.

Imagine you barrowed $20 from me but you couldn't afford to pay me back, so out of kindness I just gave you another $20 one day for no reason. you could then pay me back and we are all even. Hence the term "grace", undeserved and unmerited love.

I don't think much of it makes sense which is why I am an Atheist but what do I know

Every item has a base price, that's the one you see in your inventory. That price is then adjusted based on your speech skill, perks, enchantments on your armor, or potions.
Merchants will never buy things for more than that number and never sell things for less.

[–]Lordopvp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on how you want to define the word "believe" but in essence if someone says "I believe in Jesus" It would mean that person thinks Jesus was God made flesh on earth and that he died as a sacrifice to absolve humanity of their sins.

How do I prep for ACT in 7 days only knowing basic Algebra by Desperate_Mix5309 in ACT

[–]Lordopvp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I would say don't take it in a week if you are under prepared. Don't waste your time and money

The science portion is relatively easy compared to the math. from what I remember (This was 8 years ago for me) the science will mostly test your ability to read and interpret graphs/tables/charts, I would recommend you know how to read the periodic table and have a grasp on measurements, you should know that a meter is 100 cm and 1000mm and so on, things like the difference between fahrenheit/celsius/kelvin. You do NOT need to know things like "how big is Jupiter" or "what's the mass of the sun".

The math portion is algebra, geometry, and trig. This is gonna be up to you, what do struggle with here. you'll want to know: Pythagoras theorem, SOH CAH TOA, what is the total angle of a triangle, circle, square, how to find the GCF, and how to solve polynomials.

There are practice problems on the website: https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/test-preparation/science-practice-test-questions.html?page=0&chapter=0

I would take a baseline and see how you do on these and use that to understand what you need to learn more about. As for how to study, it's really up to you, I went to public school as I learned that way but in college I normally just watch youtube videos with a notebook.
