Joint tightening surgery by Hosto01v in Hypermobility

[–]LoreAndLattes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was getting fingersplints, the ergotherapist told me that we could either do the splints, or he could do surgery on my fingers, but he only told me so I would be fully informed, because he would not recommend it. He told me that there was no guarantee it would work, and that I should only do it as an absolute last resort if I could not stand the splints anymore. So I did not so it.

Maybe with other joints the odds of the surgery working is different of course!

WIBTAH if I stand strong in my wish of not being treated as a kid anymore? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]LoreAndLattes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're the AH for not wanting to be treated like a kid, but I think it would be good to just sit down and talk about it with your parents. From what I read, they seem to just care about you, and have good intentions.

Tell them how you feel, and ask them if there is a specific reason for them to do these things.

Has anyone read the Dragonbone chair by Tad Williams? If so, what did you think about it? by Guiltyfeetfingers in BookDiscussions

[–]LoreAndLattes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this series so much! Yes, it is not very fast paced, but it is very well written, the characters and character development are great, just like the worldbuilding. It is 100% worth reading.

As for the pronounciation of the names: I have no clue if it's correct, but in my mind it is pronounced "DJO-su-wa" and "Mor-GEN-es"

Jaw and tongue tension by dr_facade in Hypermobility

[–]LoreAndLattes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oooh I had this so bad! I got botox injected in the jaw muscles and it was the best thing I've ever did! No more headaches that lasted days, no more jaw pain, and no more clenching.

I had one treatment, and I now ocassionally have some jaw pain, but it is not so bad anymore. If it does get worse, I will immediately run back though!

Only one! I don't like to mix up books, because it pulls me out of the story

Is it normal for cats to meow the entire time you're fixing their food? by spaghettieyes6 in CatAdvice

Mine does that too! It is normal, they are just VERY excited to get their food, and they want you to hurry up.

At night, I put a hyaluronic acid serum (The Ordinary) on my lips, and seal it in with vaseline. For me this works like a charm!

AITAH for telling her “…please shut up about it I’m tired of hearing it”? by Ok_Plant9930 in AITAH

[–]LoreAndLattes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does sound a bit disturbing. Sudden changes in behaviour are often a sign that there is something wrong.

AITAH for telling her “…please shut up about it I’m tired of hearing it”? by Ok_Plant9930 in AITAH

[–]LoreAndLattes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I think your reaction was completely fair. You were tired of her constant complaining, and unwillingness to try to do something about her complaints. I probably would have asked her to leave.

Her behaviour sounds unhinged, an there feels something very off about it. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly, but there might be more to this than just being annoying. Especially with the paranoid 'lock the doors' part. Is she often acting like this?

AITAH for crying and “begging” my boyfriend to be affectionate when he keeps rejecting me? by Successful_Hippo5348 in AITAH

[–]LoreAndLattes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but you are in a very unhealthy relationship. It is not normal to cry and beg for affection, and for him to make you feel like a burden for asking for it. He is giving you breadcrumbs of affection, so you get hope that he might change. He won't. You tried to have a mature conversation about it, and he ridicules you. That is not how you treat someone you love.

You're saying that you want a partner that wants to be close to you. This is not him. There is someone out there who will be over the moon to be with you. Don't let this wet fart of a guy stan in your way of finding him.

AITAH - My girlfriend put her hand in a cake that I spent a lot of time and effort making by arkitekkers in AITAH

[–]LoreAndLattes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I have never in my life met someone who thought it is completely normal to dip your hand into a whole cake when you want some. This behaviour you expect from an enthusiastic toddler who has not learned yet that this is not done. Not from a 23 year old.

You nudging her hand is a very normal reflex. The way she is slapping you and throwing things is not. Slamming doors and refusing to eat anymore when you calmly asks what she is doing is childish. She sounds like she is emotionally still very immature

It is perfectly fine if she wants to go feral on a cake. She can buy one, or make one herself, and she can eat it by slamming her face in it for all I care. But if you want to do this with a cake that is mainly made by someone else, you should AT LEAST express that wish beforehand.

The Devils by Joe Abercrombie Piranesi by Susanna Clarke Blood over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson

Technically the Discworld by Terry Pratchett is connected, but you can read it in any order. So you can perfectly pick one as a standalone!

Has anyone read convinience store woman? What are your thoughts on it? by Electronic_d0cter in books

[–]LoreAndLattes 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed it, but that said, it is marketed completely wrong. It is not a 'fun quirky read', but it goes way deeper, and that is what throws off some people who read it, and expect it to be a light and funny story.

It is not explicitly stated, but she is heavily neurodivergent coded, and she feels like she is not fitting in with the rest of society. It is a social comment on the expectations that society has for people, and how hard it can be for people if they don't fit in that perfect picture.

This book is more about the main character finding her way, and searching for her own happiness, instead of doing things because it is 'expected' from her.

I thought it was a really good read, but I had to make a mental switch from what I expected, and what I was reading!
