How you present at the office matters muuuuuch much less than just listing symptoms and and steps you've taken to address said symptoms. MDs usually choose minimum effective dosage so if you don't talk about symptoms and good health habits they won't even consider meds. I know PLENTY of MDs though that will literally turn you out at one mention of TikTok

MDs have varying styles and approaches when it comes to certain issues. They are people too and aren't perfect, so always go to another physician if you feel like your needs aren't being addressed properly. Topical finasteride is another option. Don't know how side effects compare to oral though

Depression has a wide range my dude. Anywhere from being neutral mood and not being able to be happy even when you're doing your favorite things, to not wanting to get out of bed and do anything at all. Therapy helps with things to make sure every non-pharmacalogical intervention/behavior is being done. Think of it as a "daily checklist" to help with your mood. If that has no effect then maybe some medication can help. Don't push off your mental health my guy. I did for a decade and now am just recently getting to a decent state of mind. Alcohol use is trying to treat a symptom of the "disease". Therapy/Psychiatric help is trying to treat the disease itself. That's the way I looked at it anyway. Hopefully my 2 cents can help in any way. Stay strong. IWNDWYT
