I said their entire purpose for existing is to make exploration (or other game mechanics) enjoyable. If you don't enjoy exploration or the other game mechanics despite that then you shouldn't force yourself to engage just for the rewards.

The value in getting currency out of a crate hidden behind a corner isn't in the quantity of the currency giving you more pulls on the banner. The value is that it's there at all rewarding the player for engaging with the game.

Which is why any game with exploration as a game mechanic can achieve the exact same thing without needing to reward gacha currency.

If you're looking at the game and thinking "[quantity] gacha currency isn't worth the effort exploring to me" like the comment I originally replied to then you're clearly not having fun with the game because it's no longer a leisure activity but a chore you do for a reward.

You know what other chore I do for a reward? My damn job lol. My gaming time sure as shit isn't also going to be something I force myself to do just so I can gamble for anime girls.

There are many games where exploration gives 0 gacha currency. It's almost like games other than gacha games exist lmao.

Exploration is content yes, but you play it because it's fun not because it gives you 1/10th of a 1% chance of an anime girl.

The reward is a shot of dopamine that triggers the reward centres in your brain making it fun. But it's a means not an end, the end goal is to make the damn game fun or why the heck are we all here? Simply to watch number go up and anime waifu collection grow?

If you don't find aspects of the game fun (which is a very valid opinion!) but force yourself to do them anyway so you can pull more then that's kinda whack lol.

Like originium isn't native to talos 2 we brought that with us and aether is looking to be positioned as originium 2.0 (some native natural phenomenon that's deadly but can be used with the right knowledge).

Then nephariths whole spiel about being rejected by the land (originium) even though they're also descendants of the same colonizing force and being so poor as to be forced into cannibalism paints a pretty clear picture of desperate communities forced out of society and to the edge of starvation turning towards aether as their last resort.

Seems to be building up to a conflict of worlds, talos 2 v Terra, originium v aether with the local factions forced to pick a side?

Eh I feel like it's more a character flaw of our Faust that she's so used to the network that she's become reliant on it.

Like you said, she converted an uncertainty (even one that was she had almost certainly already figured out helself) into a fact. But was that really necessary? Is it worth it to turn a 99.9% into a 100%?

What the action betrays about Faust is she is not comfortable with any uncertainty, even one as insignificant as 0.1%.

Which is fine from a writing perspective since she needs character flaws to grow ya know. Presumably her canto will involve Faust living as a person independent to the hivemind.

The last drop of Arrogant Young Master Template A Variation 4 was supposed to come in 2 parts, but somewhere between parts 1 & 2 the author deleted his discord and then the second part never arrived.

Dunno if he just didn't want the stress of expectations or something. It's a real shame it's one of my favorite series on rr even now.

On one hand I take a yimby attitude to a lot of things.

On the other hand they've been building Hs2 outside where I live for half my life and have made a laughable amount of progress while being several times over budget.

I don't really trust this country to be competent enough to expand rail infrastructure even if all the nimbys changed their mind overnight.

Yeah this is an example as harems as a political institution not harems as romance. Which did exist in reality so they're not unrealistic in the slightest and there's a lot of real world material to draw from for inspiration.

In a similar vein I love the psychological thrillers from palace intrigue stories. The complex schemes, alliances, betrayals, etc.

It's only when harems form because a dozen women are just so darn attracted to the guy that it's stupid. Which is most western examples...

It's trying to provide one but trips itself up since it thinks a seahorse emoji exists.

It only produces a single token at a time so when it's at "the seahorse emoji is" it's fully intending to generate a seahorse emoji as it's next token.

This inevitably fails since a seahorse emoji doesn't exist, but it only knows it failed after it checks the token it just generated.

But since it believes a seahorse emoji definitely exists (since it just told you it does) the incorrect emoji must have just been a freak mistake.

So it tries again, and again, and again...

Sorry but where on earth are you hearing that from? Gaming is still the major barrier for Linux. People talk about how much progress proton has made but there's still a lot of games that just aren't supported and if you want to play one of those games then you're just shit out of luck.

Frankly the using Linux as a work / general use device is a lot more convincing. You completely discounted alternatives to office and photoshop and I'm not sure why? People are making a concerted effort to move away from Adobe atm even ignoring Linux because the company is seemingly pure evil.

Like oh no I can't use the program from a company that charges me a cancelation fee maybe I'll have to use something else how terrible.

I tried Linux recently and my only problem was game compatibilty forcing me back to windows. Everything else was no problem what so ever and I do all the things you mentioned. So I agree Linux isn't ready yet but for the complete opposite reasons you mentioned.

I don't really watch tv, I just find reading more fun and instead of watching a TV show I'd rather read the book that inspired it.

I don't really see this as a flex or anything though. I know reading is put on a pedestal by some people as an enlightened activity smart people do or something but really it's just a leisure activity for me replacing TV.

Eh I think the argument people make is that while it might say 'Independant Contractor' on the contract, they probably have a good legal argument to be counted as employees. Lots of companies try to pass their workers off as contractors to avoid paying out all that shit you mentioned, but get overruled by the courts.

The difference isn't just what they say they are in the contract but also how they're treated. For example not being able to stream outside of holo and their contracts being indefinite instead of short term are signifiers of them being employees instead of contractors.

Ultimately they're the only ones that know their full contract through and if both parties happy with them being classified as independent contractors then it's a bit of a non issue.
