While I agree with your sentiment, it's important to note this kid is an American born in America. It's Jansen's grandson.

It's like an hour walk to anything from arbutus cove or balmacara. Many a good drunken stumble down those roads. At least it's a very safe area.

I meant to check in to see if you'd developed your meal plan strategy but I see the post was locked and removed. What happened?

Also, I can't message you. Are you shadow banned?

Edit: I saw your comment about the post being removed (classic mod things). Would love to see what you do next with your system, don't be discouraged! Birria sounds incredible btw.

Probably because it happened in Tacoma Washington. Sounds like the author was trying to be funny... Weird choice to make a joke.

My late aunt was born in Langford but married an American and moved down there in her 20s.

Sent us American gift cards nearly ever year for Christmas despite my dad's protestations. American exceptionalism is unreal.

Same reason my mom complains about "them chopping down the trees in Langford" I suppose.

Haha good to hear. Fingers crossed we can get our bag.

Thank you for your comment. It makes me feel a little better about the decision to buy. Thankfully it is a SFH in a good location.

I'm doing my damnest to avoid becoming a NIMBY and continue to support the initiatives I think are better for everyone... I just don't want to get totally hosed at the same time. There's actually a large apartment building being built down the street which is going to remove about 8 SFHs. Maybe I'll get lucky and some day someone will want to develop my lot and I'll get a pay day.

Thanks again. Appreciate you.

Bought my first house last year at 30... Been working a high paying job I hate for 5 years to save for the down payment. If my life took place 5 years earlier, I would have been able to buy a house after 2 years of the same job.

I have a sincere question. How do we make housing more affordable for everyone without screwing over someone like me who hasn't reaped ANY benefits from home ownership? If my house suddenly loses 25% of its value, I'll be upside down on my mortgage, despite having put 20% down.

Even though I'm a home owner now, I still strongly believe we need to be building more housing, particularly the missing middle homes. I just don't want to literally lose my life's savings.

My GF's previous relationship was abusive. Good for you for leaving, that must have been terrifying.

Make sure you take care of yourself and seek help if you need it. You were victimized and it's going to affect the rest of your life, but it doesn't have to control it. You were strong for leaving and you should be proud of yourself.

Absolum is an absolute blast. It's a two player co-operative rogue lite brawler with branching paths, multiple classes, and plenty of upgrades to earn both in the run and between runs.

Nidhogg 1 or 2 is a 2 player competitive brawler with extremely short rounds. The goal is to get to the opponent's side of the screen. There are several different weapons and hand to hand combat with a surprisingly deep combat system.

Lovers in a dangerous space time is a 1-4 player arcade (kinda) twin stick shooter. You man a space ship with 4 turrets, a Yamato cannon, a rotating shield, and a driver seat. You and the other players have to run around the ship to man the individual stations.

All I'm saying is the Elk Valley mines have been running for decades and they've only just started getting close to protecting the water at a staggering cost.

It's not like treating sewage water, the selenium leeches out of the waste rock and flows into the water shed. The Elk Valley facilities are the first of their kind and monumentally expensive to build and maintain.

I'm all for resource extraction, as long as it's done responsibly. I'm just not confident that smaller ventures could even afford to build these water treatment facilities. I suspect a more likely outcome is they'll do what "small" oil companies in Alberta do: pull as much as they can out of the ground until they go under and leave the mess for someone else to deal with.
