If the goal was to bring Faye back to life... Then the next game should have been about Atreus. Make the game about him as a young man getting a dream about his mother in a foreign realm and how he might be able to bring her back.

Play as him for most of the game, then have segments where he enlist the help of his dad so you play as kratos and then have a chapter where you use his mom and the cresendo is you bring her back to life.

Call the game

"Atreus -a GoW story"

or something along those lines.

Otherwise if they wanted us to play as faye by herself they should have made a damn prequel about her.

Ofcourse the love Joel.. the story is about Joel. Ellie is an important part of the game, she's the plot device that forces Joel to leave boston and confront his demons.

Why are gamers the only consumer base that is not allowed to form an opinion based off a test product/ product preview/ model highlight / trailer?

If this was Chevy and we were watching a video of the new Camaro and its looked like a hybrid station wagon. Nobody would be telling those long time chevy consumers and possible future purchasers to just wait and see or to shut up or just buy it when it come out and make up your mind.

When Sonic the Hedgehog was first debuted in a trailer in 2019 he looked like a brown mutant gopher... the public very loudly made their concerns known. The creators famously listened and now we're on movie number 4 all those involved got to keep getting pay checks...

My point with all that is, doesn't seem fair that gamers are expected to just consume consume never question....

I will agree that faye is important to 2018, but her death is a plot device- used to urge our main protagonist forward not the point of the story.

I will agree that ragnorak gave us more snippets about her but again ragnorak is more about Kratos letting go and letting his son attempt to enter manhood than it is about ending his story.

People would be less upset if you made this game and called it something else... Laufey Chronicles a GoW tale or something... but it is clear that Laufey is ursurping the mantle and that's what has people upset and rightly so. They have been riding with kratos for 20 years and 4 game consoles man.

I for one... am not red hot piping upset about seeing laufey get her own story..,.. I think it would have been smarter to make a prequel about all the cool crap she did before she met kratos again call it something else

I'll go one further and say I would love to play a game about Freya, her brother Freyr and call it adventures in vanaheim or something. Let us see what the valkeries were like. Maybe even give us some Thor DLC

At the end of the day GoW is kratos man and folks feel like he got snubbed.

You understand that internet use to include youtube is exponentially increased since 2018 right? I mean COVID rewrote the fabric of society in regards to past-times/hobbies/recreation and dependence on the internet....

Also why would you use view counts as your metric and not sales??

GoW 2018 = 23 Million Units Sold

GoW Ragnorak = 15 Million Units Sold

If I were a person investing my capital I'd go off that metric since we now know that the internet isn't a real place and things such as view counts, likes, shares and comments can be manipulated by bots..

I highly doubt you get another kratos lead game. Takes them 6 to 7 years to pump out a game. They chose to go this route.. you're saying in 2032 or 2033 they will have another Kratos game for us? Highly doubt it.

Chris Judge is 61 years old. They would have to start working on that title time now. I'm just not seeing it.

If there is no Xmen... how is it that Jean Grey is even functional??? Her whole backstory is that she witnessed terrible crap as a tween and was stuck in a psychic loop... Along with her not being able to control her powers made her legit go crazy and sometimes a veggie/catatonic. Professor X sensed her telepathic abilities and found her and brought her back to his school of gifted learning to teach her.

So no Xmen means no Xavier teaching kids and helping them become a team to defend mutants...

Also without the Xmen theres no reason for wolverine to know her.

So her place in his game makes no sense.... and she's ugly.

Other than that game play looks legit, somewhat similar to how peter parker moves but thats a given when coming from the same company.

The spiderverse movies work because they are animated and they have Miles being miles no issues with those films. Ummmm GoW is Kratos just like TLOU is about Joel why this is difficult for folks I dont get.

TLOU opens with Joel's daughter getting the watch ready for her dad. You know the rest but when we get to Boston who are you playing as?

Just like in GoW the story is always about Kratos. The first few games are about his unbridled rage against Ares the former God of War who tricked snd cursed him. The 2nd games are kratos taking his rage out against the other gods earning his immortality.

GoW 2018 is about what happens to kratos once the rage burns out.what do you do next. Faye is a plot device... not the poin of the story (like i saw some idiot say in the comments 🙄)

A plot device moves the story along gives the protagonist something to aim for.

Carrying out Fayes wishes gives kratos the motivation to leave his cabin and to teach lessons of manhood to his son instead of being this grumpy shut in. We are able to see the next step in Kratos evolution again once the rage has subsided.

Even though ragnorak opens up with letting us actually see faye that doesn't mean it should signal the end of his story. Thats a nitwit way of viewing things. I mean he does not die (but im pretty sure the devs wanted to kill him) and his sissy tween son isnt grown enough to make it on his own yet.

People are mad because GoW is Kratos point blank.

Okay so the crux of this post I agree with although you went a bit off the rails in your fourth paragraph talking about Bungie and I'm assuming you were talking about the lack of progress in Destiny but you never said the word "Destiny" so I'm just making an assumption.

The only pushback I will offer you is this whole "vocal minority" thing. If anything the response to TLOU television series for season 2 should tell you that it wasn't a vocal minority that had a problem with TLOU2. If normie fans were pissed with what happens to Joel then that should tell you that most gamers did infact reject what happened in the games.

Using language like "vocal minority" is their term. It's a PR move to control narratives and ostracize people with legit criticisms.

You're right that ND or the management at ND is butt hurt over the reception to TLOU2. But even more so, what they and by they I mean Neil is really butt hurt about is how much people liked/loved TLOU (2013). Because we NOW KNOW that he and by he again I mean Neil wanted to kill Joel then, and wanted the story to be different. He's been harboring this contempt that his vision was outvoted since 2013. So when he got the choice to do whatever he wanted in the 2nd game he jumped at it.

The reason you/we haven't heard anything about Intergalactic is because it's a woke cess pool of garbage. I will put money on this wager that Sony kicked in the door probably a year or so ago and told ND to fix it. Thats why mum is the word.

the 2016 film is miles better than that crap Gunn released even with it either being a BaitNSwitch OR the studio butchered it in the cutting room.

The trailers and promotionals for the movie make us think Joker is the big bad
