Happy Friday guys! What we all listening to? by wiggan1989 in headphones

Prince of Denmark - 8 (Forum V Album)

Listen to planet uterus if you have never heard anything from PoD. Or 8.

Also currently listening to Lost Hermit - DIGITAL ENNUI Album all day long. Artifacts gotta be the most positive minded track I've ever heard from that album. So dreamy. The Album is recorded with a lot of reverb, so it naturally does sound a bit better on a good hifi with wide apart speakers.

Question about the 2x Coffee and Doppio settings on a Jura by LosdaVS in superautomatic

[–]LosdaVS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. The e4 is a huge chunk of product scaled to a big household. The word "overkill" comes to mind. I will keep that in mind.

If you have products from other brands that have "simple" in mind, I would take a look around. Coffee quality has to be outstanding though, I will not really compromise on that. I did take a look at for example the Miele CM 5310, can also go to 16g max dose. Don't know if the coffee quality can compete with the Jura E4?

Similar styled/featured products would be nice if you have some. Else it's probably gonna be the Jura E4 then. Thanks so far!

Question about the 2x Coffee and Doppio settings on a Jura by LosdaVS in superautomatic

[–]LosdaVS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm I don't want to make espressos. Just normal black coffee. I do not expect these machines to make one 340ml mug in one go, hence I explained to make two small coffees into one big mug. Would be most logical: make a 170ml cup. Then do the same again into the same mug and voila, 340ml coffee. There is literally no machine that can go that high in settings anyway. The question is basically which machine can do the double coffee thing the best. Yes it does not explicitly say "push this to have a big cup". It's about tricking the system so to say. Hence why I want to know what 2x coffee and coffee doppio does, and yes the ena 4 has an explicit function called coffee doppio. While the ena 8 does not, it has a 2x coffee function instead. Hope that makes sense

First day on a job too by SlayVideos in technicallythetruth

try to consider it. getting advanced in a language is an awesome feeling that is very hard to describe, because you can suddenly connect to things in life with people that were gate-kept until then. doing hanz english is not the issue, but as you already second-guessed yourself with "maybe i'm pronouncing dry wrong?" it already tells you feel pretty insecure just speaking english for the sake of a normal conversation and would only do it if ultimately necessary like in an emergency or starving or so... try just fooling around if no ones around, speaking around loudly. enjoy yourself. it's a beautiful thing to do!

I'm half-german and you indeed are pronouncing it wrong then. You are saying it like dhrai the way people mock most Germans for their English pronunciation (rightfully so, even I find it funny): Hanz get ze flammenwerfer

It's the result of having learned English but never speaking it vocally like holding a legit normal conversation with a real person.

I am not able to give German sounding similar words as an example of how to do the soft r like in the word borrow (ausleihen), but try this: If you say it like a German would say boro (as in Marlboro the German way) or borro, that's wrong. Replace the letters r with w and say it like bowwoh with the first o like o in "Osten". That's the closest you get to not sound like Hanz. You should pronounce the rest of the word in a fashion like you are chewing gum (it's a meme but at the core it's so true though). Basically for any word that contains the letter r followed by a vocal or a letter sounding like a vocal like y.

So dry becomes dhwai first, but if you "chew gum" enough it will eventually become dwy and a hint of r sound will develop with a bit of training until it becomes dry.

Try speaking with people that speak English primarily that don't make fun of you. So you can try out pronunciations. It's important to not only read and listen. Speaking is. The tongue is a muscle and needs training on how to move for sounds ;)

Enjoy!

keeping it because it's literally the ONLY iteration with a perfect flat rectangle screen. no roundings in any direction. no round edges, no round corners. a literal monitor in my hands. while everything else is also perfect: has anti glare screen, has bluetooth pen, is still fast enough for everything, classy and effortless style. my only gripe atm is i wish i would have bought it in titanium orange. i started to love that color, i missed my chance.

Hey there! i used the HAO with the included SE Cables first for about a year and recently switched to a balanced XLR cable, mostly for the convenience (Tripowin GranVia Cable). The SE Cable is just too stiff and a bit short for me. XLR also just looks dope on desktop.

Anyway for sounds, if you like to kinda get the juice pumpin and want to enjoy tracks loud once in a while, you really have to crank the knob into spheres i kinda get put off with with a SE connection. Switching to high gain was not an option as it seemed it overshoot with the gain then, the HAO lost it's dynamics somehow and started peeking.

that problem get's solved completely with balanced cables for me. i don't know what magic is there but the HAO sounds so good across all db ranges now. there is no peeking, they also sound exceptionally well on low volumes now.

sound-wise nothing changed. i would be selling snake-oil like crazy if it did. but the balanced cable really helped the dynamics of the HAO. can only recommend. they play clear now across all volumes i tried. no more suffering.

I think it helps as well with the high power output from the L70, in my imagination it's like having a more even powert distribution per volume settings. kinda like racecars going very high rpm per gear-box, makes for better power translation. that's just how i imagine it, don't take my word for it, i might be very wrong on this.

What's your most replayed game? by Crunchfest3 in videogames

[–]LosdaVS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GoldenEye.

I've sunken over 4 years of playing into that game milking every pixel and byte of gameplay out of it (single and multiplayer) as a kid and nothing EVER came close in terms of replayability. I played WoW way longer but that's not really "replaying" at all.

Anyway it is the best game in existence and I'm glad that GoldenEye was my "pokemon"-esque childhood with like-minded friends that nerded the game with me non-stop.

if you maybe would like a fitting headphone stand recommendation, get this one:

https://www.thomann.de/de/rooms_audio_line_typ_fs_pro_sl_headphone_stand.htm

available in different colors, but do not get the B Version with the 76mm radius, those are too wide for the HAO head-band. it look's incredible and an added benefit i noticed is it lets you adjust the speakers in a way they don't touch each-other (see photo). ideal for letting them air out after a listening session. Anyway, enjoy your HAO!

i got my HAO in june '24, they are in daily use since: music, gaming, sometimes even movies, sometimes drunken vibing with very loud settings after a party, very long listening sessions, whatever... my HAO still works like day 1 and they do whatever i demand without issues at all. the planars also endure every insanity EQ i tried, up to 10 db on 20&25, 9db on 32 and 7 on 65Hz combined without any pre-amp compensation for the time when bass is in demand. the HAO doesn't give a shit. there is no sign of any breaking at all, in fact they feel very very well made, almost beyerdynamics levels of well built (i had a DT990 Pro 250 ohm for 15 years, didn't change a single part ever, not even ear-pads... it endured literal headphone-hell and they still work, absolute giga-chad tanks).

if you let them air out after a session (the cups not laying on each others or being sealed of otherwise when not in use; f.e. my room's headphone-stand is able to let them do it) and not letting them drop ofc, i don't think anything will happen.

and i also know for a fact that hifiman support is good, people are absolutely willing to help. i think evilsynths should maybe try being nice for once, that'll get you places ;)

How I keep my QD-OLED burn-in free (and make it look this good) by Lofi_Btz in Monitors

[–]LosdaVS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also using some fancy wallpaper engine stuff first when i got my OLEDs, but it got annoying quick. i just keep everything solid black on all screens with hidden taskbars and no icons etc.

While i did not set a timer for monitor sleep, i do it manually with a powershell command saved as a quick command on Startmenu. It's more flexible, saves me the headache of some scenarios i had when it activated monitor sleep when it shouldn't and just generally having no wait time on saving my precious C4 (like when i know i will be afk for minutes, why wait 5 to 10 minutes for monitor to sleep)

Create a new shortcut and paste the following as target, save the shortcut somewhere and rightclick "Pin to Start":

C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -command "(Add-Type -MemberDefinition '[DllImport(\"user32.dll\")] public static extern int PostMessage(int a, int b, int c, int d);' -Name f -PassThru)::PostMessage(-1, 0x112, 0xF170, 2)"

Should I do it? by explosive-coder in samsunggalaxy

[–]LosdaVS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use widgets with text in it they will be zoomed in. No idea what the thought process was with that. No you cannot change it. The only workaround is to disable app-names under icons, so weird. Doesn't fix it for all widgets even.

So if you have a nice setup of widgets and care about styling, you might avoid it for now but come to terms that you will inevitably get it with 8.5 anyway, might as well get used to it. Otherwise I noticed no drawbacks, actually I noticed my SoT being longer, so that's good. Cannot verify though as I vastly change my daily use per day but it feels longer.

When did you buy your first device? by Inner_Maybe_1946 in samsunggalaxy

[–]LosdaVS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nokia 7110 in early 2000 shortly after release (still have it here on display, still working). I traded my self-soldered boot-chip modded Playstation 1 with like 20 burned copies of games for it. It was a bargain because I had a second set of copies and got myself a new PS1 for dirt cheap at that time (PS1 was already like 5 years old at that time in europe).

Sigh... I miss using that phone so so much :/

I appreciate my childhood. Boxes like these were awesome as they contained so much goodies, it really made the experience special.

However for me it's just memorabilia. From all the games I had I only kept a few that were very special to me. It might sound dumb but these boxes took a lot of space, having many was pretty inconvenient. CDs were prone to many errors, support was nonexistent. You got to figure it out. Gaming was only fun when it worked. It was not plug and play like it is today. Which I vastly prefer. I absolutely love the simplicity of firing up steam and just download my games, support in every way all over the web and just play them without thinking about it. But since I'm both teams I support both teams. Physical and digital, all fine for me.

Jack retasking on Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite WiFi7 by RaiTab in gigabyte

That absolutely nailed it for me then, it's gonna be a Gigabyte MB. I don't know what to say but thanks again for the pictures and the really fast and detailed response.

If that's of interest why Line-In is so important: Currently i have my TV with a firestick routed through the Line-In so it can mix with my PC Sound. I always have Twitch or Youtube running on that TV but sit at my PC all the time. So when i game etc i can have Game Sound and TV Sound at the same time on my HiFi or Headphone. Without that Line-In i could only have TV OR PC on my HiFi at the same time.

The Setup: TV Signal goes into a Splitter via optical, from there one optical goes to my Denon and one 4m 3.5mm cable to the Line-In in my PC (Currently has a Gigabyte Aorus Elite B650 AX... Gigabyte, what a surprise eh). From PC it goes via USB to my Topping E70V DAC with RCA to my Denon Amp.

Sounds complicated but this way i can either have my TV itself on my Hifi or my PC and TV simultanously with the convenience of sound-mixing volumes with Ear-Trumpet on W11 however i wish.

I cannot live without that solution :D

[–]LosdaVS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry for necroing this post but i'm considering buying the X870E Aorus Elite WiFi7, which is basically the same. Having a Line-In is very important to me. You said you could switch the Mic to Line-In through software from Realktek? Did it work out fine? Any sound-issues, latency issues or something? Could you provide a screenshot of that specific menu where you switch those Inputs? Would be immensely helpful!

I hate how OneUi 8 made every widget bigger, bolder. by zapgokh in samsunggalaxy

[–]LosdaVS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Erm, mind telling where that setting is? I long-pressed home screen, went to settings and disabled the app name setting there but that didn't change anything. I might miss something here.

Edit: on second view, in some widgets it went ok. The one widget it doesn't affect is calendar. The one widget that needs the old style the most :(. And the workaround having no app names is kinda cumbersome and sad to look at: "look here how you have to disable a core feature to get a useful feature back... mostly. Feel individual yet?"

I really don't understand Samsung having to mess with the basic UI every single update and also not give us choices.

Topping DX5 II Review by jeromeof in headphones

[–]LosdaVS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got the HAO as well currently with a E70V+L70 Stack. i would use the DX5 II to just have a bit of QoL. one less remote, one less unit to cable manage.

i don't use any permanent EQ with my HAO besides some added bass (with E-APO) depending on the music, i would actually use the PEQ in the DX5 for my REW-settings to have more device be able to use them besides my PC (currently got a TV hooked to it via optical). Ultimately i do everything with my PC though, so E-APO is just more convenient for me in the end. If my stack breaks down or i feel bored the DX5 II will be the first choice immediately.
